We played the new course, it has only been open for a couple of months, but has good grass greens and fairways. It is still very immature, but an interesting layout. Will probably rate much higher once the course matures and becomes more playable. We walked it and it is a long walk. It is a kilometre from the 9th green to the 10th tee. The greens were slow and furry, perhaps again a sign of the newness of the course. One pitfall is that on a couple of holes there are hidden hazards on the fairway, one in particular is the 6th where your second shot disappears into an unsighted hazard when you expect it to reappear near the green. There are 3 sets of tees for Men, I played it from the middle set (blue markers) and it was over 6400 metres from them. If you feel you can handle lots of length try the tiger tees (black markers) where it is nearly 6800 metres long. Green Fees of $55 are a bit high, but if you are in the goldfields it is your only real option to play on grass greens. I would like to come back in a couple of years to see how it has matured.
