Kapunda golf course is a relatively long 9 hole course at 6056m. It is situated just outside the historic mining town of Kapunda and consists of lovely ong fairways and well cut greens. The course is well designed and consists of a good variety of holes that keep you thinking. You are often required to lay up due to the deep rocky creek that runs through 3 or 4 holes. The par 3 5th requires a challenging 3 or 4 iron over a large lake onto a small green, not a good hole to top your iron.
The fairways were in excellent condition and reward is given to those golfers who can hit straight with much of the rough filled with large overhanging trees requiring much skill to evade.
Although the course is quite long, there are opporutinites for birdies for those golfers with the accuracy to hit the greens.

Measures 3042m Par 36 with two par 3s ranging from 143-172m, five par 4s ranging from 328-381m and two par 5s ranging from 444-491m.
Course has a short-to-medium sized pine tree-lined layout with mostly couch/kikuyu grass fairways and teebeds and medium-sized bent grass greens.
There are 5 bunkers on the 9-hole course. There are a few alternate back nine tee mounds which change the par of the hole.
1st-387m Par 4/ 10th-427m Par 5 – slight dogleg right with a fairway bunker right at the dogleg corner to a green with a leftside bunker.
2nd-332m / 11th-377m – straight and slightly uphill with a pond short right of the bunkerless green.
3rd-355m / 12th-336m – straight hole and slightly downhill with a yellow-staked gully across the fairway about 120m out from the green with a bunker left.
4th-381m / 13th-337m – slight dogleg left and gently uphill to a bunkerless green.
5th-143m / 14th-173m – with a teeshot over a small pond to a bunkerless green.
6th-451m Par 5/ 15th-391m Par 4 – slight dogleg left with OOB Kidman Road on the right to a bunkerless green.
7th-491m / 16th-442m – straight hole and slightly uphill with the storage pond on the right with a new bunker short right of the green.
8th-330m / 17th-310m – straight hole with an elevated teebed next to the storage pond to a bunkerless green.
9th-172m uphill Par 3 / 18th-240m Par 4 – slight dogleg right to a green with a bunker short right.
Interesting layout with the 6th green coming back to the clubhouse where you play holes 7-9 to the storage pond then back to the clubhouse. The pond to the right of the 2nd and 7th greens uses its reclaimed water to water the course.
Played here on 30/09/2011 through the frequent moderate showers and gusty southerly winds. Green fees $12 for 9 holes or $20 for all day.
Course is approximately 250m above sea level and the town has around 2500 people.
Kapunda has a good variety of holes and is as equally as challenging as the 3 other grass green courses north to Port Augusta – being Balaklava, Burra and Clare. Close to the Barossa Valley for other full-length grass green options.
