Typical country style course with 2 sets of tees on the 9 hole course. Honesty box in place $13 for 18 holes.
Greens very rough more like cricket pitches and very short holes. Trees on some holes tend to be in ridiculous place.
Easy to find coming up the Pacific Highway heading north from Newcastle take the exit into Karuah and the course is on the right after 1-2kms before you get into town.
Not the greatest course is the world but worth a game for a different experience.

Played Karuah Sunday 19th June 2011, the course was a little wet under foot but they had had a fair amount of rain, take the rain away and it would be ok. It’s a 9 hole course at 2611 mtrs with 2 x par 5’s, 5 x par 4’s and 2 x par 3’s, the course has a few additional tees which allows for a round of 18. On the second nine a shorter tee box turns the par 4 6th into a par 3 which gives a par 71 for 18 holes.
The course runs north to south hence 7 of the 9 fairways are parallel to each other which makes it a bit up and down.
The greens are fairly well covered although a few were rough, generally they are pretty small and given there is elevation on most of them it’s difficult to hold them if you are any distance from the hole. A couple of bunkers on the course but like the greens these were small. Fairways were well covered but of course given the bush surrounds you will find bare patches off them.
Overall it’s an easy walk and it beats work, only took 3 clubs, rescue, 7 iron and putter and that got me around ok. Shortest hole Par 3 4th 117mtrs, longest par 5 1st at 445 mtrs
I thought $14 for 9 holes (even on Sunday) was a bit high considering the quality of the course, I didn’t see anyone else on the course during my round. An honesty box operates when the club is closed.
Beware the crows!
