I have been playing at Keilor every Sunday for the past 5 weeks and have had no real issue’s until today. As per usual made a booking early in the week for 2 players and a motorised cart to tee off just before midday, and for the first time in 5 weeks I was late to the tee off by 7 minutes.
The So Called Manager on duty ( Brett ) advised that we missed our tee time and to line up behind the groups on the first tee, fair enough I thought as i was late for the tee off. After paying for 2 X 18 holes and a cart we headed to the first tee only to be confronted by 3 groups of 4 and 2 groups of 2 all waiting to tee of first, so that at least half an hour before we would even get to tee off, only to wait 5 – 7 minutes between every shot and another 20 minutes each hole ( Fun Fun Fun).
Thinking that this kind of golf may possible drive me crazy I ran inside to the manager on duty ( Brett ) if there was a possibility to tee off on the 10th Tee when there was a reasonable gap for us to jump in, seeing that we both have a half decent handicap and a cart we would not be holding up the group that was coming off the 9th seeing the the guys on the 10th were at the green already.
Before I could even finish my question I was rudely cut off by Brett ( the Course Manager ) in a sarcastic tone without even looking at the 9th and 10th holes, he bellowed “Nah mate… no chance, do you think we are here to cater golf just for you” and laughed.
I requested a refund, which he wouldn’t do so we had to settle for a credit note for a future game, and after the way we were spoken to they can shove that sideways. Just seen on the website a special offer to play 3 rounds and get the 4th Free, would have been nice to been advised of this a few weeks ago Brett, Great customer service and customer focus I bet too.
I did let Brett ( the Course Manager ) know how rude and ridiculous he was behaving only to be told once again ” that he was not her to cater to us and if you want a decent round of golf become a member somewhere”, really Brett? really? lololol…
Let me just compare you to other golf club I have played at this year Brett and see. At Werribee Park Golf Club we booked for just before Midday and their members day had run over a hour or so, so instead of being rude or sending us home the Manager on duty sent out one of his boys in a cart and 5 minutes later we where being escorted to the 16th tee to tee of and fit in a round of golf. Amazing customer service guys amazing. At Sunshine golf course we are normally advised to tee off on the 10th Tee as it will get us around a lot quicker seeing it’s only the 2 of us and a cart. Smart thinking guys, thanks. At Keilor I get Lip service lolol..
So Brett ( the Course Manager ) is not there for your average weekend golfer and couldn’t give a toss about the conditions or the round of golf that you are going to play and may actually give you lip if you suggest an alternative to the over crowded style he likes to enforce. Its not always about the cash cow Brett.
After collecting my Credit Note and driving out of the car park and to another golf course we seen the 2nd hole par 3 had a 2 group wait with a group waiting on the 3rd tee for a group of 6 player in front of them. That’s a joke Brett, an absolute joke mate, just like you mate, your a joke.
Drove 5 minutes up the road to Melbourne Airport Golf Club and had a tee off time 5 minute later. No lip service, No smartarse management styles, just plain good ol customer service and friendly staff, what a nice change that was. I hadn’t played up at the Airport since it was called Tullamarine Country Club and was blown away the fantastic condition of the course. it was green and lush, unlike Keilor which is yellow and brown at the best of times. The bunkers were well placed and the greens where just immaculate. I couldn’t believe I had been wasting my money playing on hard cracked up, burnt yellow grassed fairways and un maintained greens for the past few weeks when this little gem had been here all along. For my money and recommendations I choose Melbourne Airport Golf Club or Sunshine Golf Club for my local game of weekend golf.
PROS
- Straight clean course with heaps of potential
Cons
- Overcrowded
- Dry Burnt Fairways
- Unmaintained and run down
- Rude and Arrogant Course Manager ( Brett )
- Top Dollar for a 2nd rate course

Had to go and play this course for myself after all the bad reviews. Can’t see what you blokes where on about. The course was great. Big flat greens, great tees and the fairways weren’t that bad cos it is Winter nad they have warm season grasses in them, after all this rain they will come up a treat in Summer.
Have to agree it’s a bit expensive for what you get though.
Overall we had a great day and really enjoyed the course. The garden beds where good, especially the cactus garden down the back which was amazing. Will definitely be back!

If you are considering playing this course my advice to you would be to take up another sport. It would be much more enjoyable.
The back 9 have improved, ehich puts them just above crap. Whilst the front 9 still disappoint.
The price is way to expensive for the crap the place dishes up.

Play here near enough every weekend as it is close to home. the course is an easy flat layout with new sand traps being added into the course layout and the tenth has been turned into a par 5 now which makes the 10th harder to play as you need a 180 meter drive to get to the fairway. I personally think that the course can get better with rain, and since july this year weekend by weekend the fairways have been improving to now a green fairway which is good to play off. the greens are superb for the water restrictions but the only way this course can improve is if they core the fairways and fertilize them ready for next winter so that the rain can help them get back to a good condition. The price is a hefty whack to the pocket as you pay 24.50 until 4 o’clock in the arvo. this course is not worth that amount of money i think and i wuld rather play another course nearby.

Keilor Public Golf Course… not much can be said about this course other than to say if you want to go to the worst golf course in Victoria this is it.
Seriously, if you played your first game of golf here you’d never play again. I’ve rated this course 1 star but thats not honest, if I could put -3 STARS I would.
You don’t have to think on this course. They haven’t got enough hazards and the ones they do have arn’t really located in difficult positions.
The condition of the fairways is appauling, I know we haven’t had a lot of rain but seriously if this is the best you can do maybe you shouldn’t be running a golf course… and evidently its now under ne management. I won’t be back for about 12 months because thats the minimum time it will take to get this course in even mildly good condition, which is a shame because its 5 minutes from my house.
I’ve only ever played on 1 course that was worse and that was in a 3rd world country, at least Keilor has proper greens and not just really short grass…

Played here many times as it is convenient. Since it stopped raining in Melbourne this course has gone from bad to worse. I guess they do what they can with the water they have and the greens are in good condition but the fairways are depressing and the rough is boney dry dirt.
PROS
- Greens
Cons
- Everything else

KEILOR would be a good course to play on if they dropped the price $23 to play a course with only 1 not bad fairway which is the par 5 on the back 9. The only reason people play it is because it’s convenient. If they spent more money on course management instead of putting in gardens and stuff like that the green and fairways maybe in better nick. Drop down the price to $15 or $18 because I believe that’s a reasonable price to play this course.

I played Keilor for the first time last weekend and I was extremely disappointed. The fairways were reasonable, but not great, but I've never had to worry about which way the ball bounced when PUTTING! Uneven greens covered in sand. They must have done some work recently and the course hasn't settled, because if this is a true reflection of the course it is the worst I've ever played.
To myself and my partners disgust, we got to the 4th tee and had 2 groups ahead of us waiting for the tee, who in turn had a group half way down the fairway, a group on the green and a group on the 5th tee all being held up by a group of 5!
No doubt I have had a rough day and this could not possibly be an accurate view of this course. But if it is then I would be recommended people stay right away.

This course is ok to play on, especially since there ain't many courses in the western suburbs and the fees are low. It looks like it could do with a bit of water, as it looks dry. People don't usually repair divits or greens, which really sucks. And yes, you get the odd ball flying in your direction. I'd give it 3 out of 5, but only coz its so cheap during the week.

I played this course 2 times and I found it is a really good course for beginner to start and learn. I usually play on weekday because of low green fee and less people, but there is a lot of people that still donâÄôt understand the golf course rules that play over there. There is one time we were putting on the green, my friend was ready to putt and a golf ball just landed 2 meters behind him. That is really scaryâĦ. The second time, when we were waiting for the green to clear, a ball just landed between 2 of my friendâĦ. That is SO NEAR!!!! I think the pro shop should do something about thisâĦ. Explain rules to golferâĦ GOOD LUCK GUYSâĦ

I have played this a few times, and each one different. Very flat course with the odd little creek or bush getting in the way. A lot of lay up shots as greens are like rock if no rain. I was off 33 and went around just parring or bogeying every hole until I reached the 18th. Said to my marker that I would be a chance to break under par. He laughed as I sunk a putt that gave me a net 55. Won two beer and a 5 shot slash. Did once see a punch up when 2 dills ignored all etiquette and drove their carts in front of tees and greens without looking and the cart got hit by a tee shot travelling straight at the pin. They left after they were kicked off by the course marshall and were flattened by a couple of very angry blokes who were playing for $10.00 a hole.

I played this course four to five years ago and the fairways were absolutely brilliant to play on, some say the best for a public course in Victoria. Sadly with the water restrictions in place, they have turned bad, so bad that you might lose a ball in the cracks.
Having said that, there has been rain lately and they have improved slighty. The greens here are a real treat, flat, well sized, a lot better than they were years ago, a putters dream.
Its a fairly flat course, not too hard to play on, only problem is if you hook or slice you're likely to be playing your next shot off the other fairways (in other words, holes are close together).

Went and played here again last week. What a surprise! The fairways where superb. The greens where great as well. All round a really good course, has improved a lot.
Still a bit expensive for what you get, although, it is in better condition than a lot of other courses I have played lately.
There is a lot of works going on on the Calder highway and I asked what was happening and was told they will have their own entrance way soon.
The driving range is being updated also. Looks good. New chipping green and bunker.Very green area.
Over all had a great day.Could not fault the course at all. (Well, bit of long rough here and there, but what bcourse hasn’t these days).
