Khancoban is a good little 9-holer, with well maintained grass greens in a beautiful pictureque setting. A standout in the area as all other courses within 100km are scrapes. Worth going out of your way for a leisurely hit, also one of Australias great drives from Khancoban thru to Thredbo.

Picture perfect setting, on the edge of the national park. Well maintained nine holer, small bent grass greens and quite soft and slow. forgiving fairways and two great little par 3’s. It’s an good coures in a relaxing location.

Khancoban is a nine hole, full length course with two par 3's, two 5's and five 4's set in the woodlands above Khancoban village. With well-maintained fairways and good quality greens it is a joy to play. There are no bunkers, but there is enough water to make players stay straight and true. The Country Club is staffed by friendly locals and out-of-towners are made very welcome. As at December 2006, $15 green fees were for all-day play, with a roll-up start and an honour system for paying greenfees using their supplied envelopes and a slot in the wall.
Overall a fun afternoon course, for both low handicappers, and high handicappers like me.

Measures 2905m Par 36 with two par 3s ranging from 162-170m, five par 4s ranging from 307-349m and two par 5s ranging from 447-462m. Corryong, Thredbo and Jindabyne are other grass green options in the area, but Khancoban has well-maintained greens. Teebeds were fairly flat and with good grass cover, fairways were quite lush given the water available to the town. The greens were slow and currently there are two temporary greens cut from the fairway (3rd and 9th).
There are no bunkers on the course. Highlights include 170m 4th with a slightly uphill teeshot over a dam. Very picturesque walk from the 3rd to the 4th tee. The 462m 5th is probably the signature hole. An elevated tee to a a sweeping dogleg right with a gully and natural creek which narrows the fairway to about 25m wide from 220m off the tee. Also of note is the 349m 6th which slightly doglegs right from 200m off the tee with the fairway gently sloping from right to left. Shame there are no bunkers to make a few holes more challenging.
Negotiate the transmission lines that cross the fairways of the 7th and 8th and you are nearly home. There are a few hills but the course is mostly on gently sloping land.
For a town of around 300 people, like others, I recommend this course if travelling through the area. Played here 8/11/2010 and green fees all day are now $20. Much better than Jindabyne. Friendly grounds staff with a honesty box still in place.
