Played Kilmore today and certainly wasn’t disappointed. The course is slightly undulating with the front 9 while being more straight up and down having most of the greens elevated so correct club selection for your approaches is important as you don’t get flat run onto the greens, it also has some very long par 4’s. The back 9 while shorter is a real test as there are some tricky doglegs and elevated par 3’s and course management really comes into play. Very enjoyable and certainly the type of course where you’d benefit from local knowledge. Locals a very friendly lot as well. I’ll be back.

The course was in good condition, with Pennent being played here in the afternoon all the tee’s were set well back, and the pins were in some tough positions. The course makes good use of the relatively hilly terrain, requiring thought with where one will aim the ball.

The fairways were all green and nicely grassed, but miss them and quite often you are hitting off dirt. THe greens also had a few patches which had been burnt off in the past.

All in all the course is well worth the trip.

Played Kilmore for the first time on Sunday. I liked this course. Most holes are attractively undulating without being tiresomely hilly, and there are plenty of doglegs and uphill or downhill drives and approaches. It’s good to see a short course not falling for being strangled by trees. There is the occasional non-descript flat hole, like the par-3 7th, but most are pleasant and interesting. The long 3rd and 4th are a test of any golfer’s length, and the Index 1 hole (16th, 368m) requires a good, accurate uphill drive and a long accurate approach.

The fairways are excellent where they have been converted to couch (some areas are in the process of being converted). Many country golf courses would love to have lies like I experienced, especially in March. Outside the couched fairways is hungry country with a lot of barren ground and dusty pathways. Keep it on the short stuff and you’ll really enjoy your round

The greens are OK, but there a few too many bare patches in places, especially around the edges. They seemed soft and slow to me, and a lot of putts don’t roll completely truely and are affected by bumps and depressions, maybe footprints around the hole.

The small pro shop has helpful staff, but only has a small range of equipment. It’s strange having the clubhouse on the other side of the reasonably busy road to the course itself.

i have only played this course once but i thought it was a very nice little country course. It has a great variety of par 4s. the course has some hilly parts to it but overall it is a good course.

A fantastic inland course, Kilmore is on undulating land in the town itself but it is still a quiet location. The course is always well presented from the tee to the hole. The strength of the course lies in the great variety of the holes over the approximately 5700m layout. There is the long par 4 3rd that is uphill and requires two long shots to reach the putting surface. The par 4 9th bends to the right up a steep hill and plays as a long par 4. The 11th plays as a dog leg left and plays long into a northely breeze. With an easterly behind you many players can reach the par 4 8th which has a big tricky green. The final 3 holes are excellent. The best hole on the course is the par 4 16th. You hit to a crest, but must shape the ball to the left to avoid the out of bounds on the right.

The approach to the green is between to huge gum trees. If you go left you go down a deep gully. The 17th is a downhill par3 of medium length where the club used can range from a 9 to a 4 iron. The last hole is a short 254m par 4, but there is out of bounds on the right and a severe slope to the left. The driver is a risky shot, but with a westerley can be reached.

A great course which is always interesting to play.

Kilmore is a pleasant 18 hole golf course with tree lined fairways. Accuracy rather than length is required for a good round here. The course is undulating and generally presented in good condition all year round and at under $20 for 18 holes is quite good value for money golf. The toughest hole comes early on at the 400m par 4 3rd hole. The tee shot is played from an elvated tee to a fairway sloping down to the left and also uphill. A good tee shot finding the fairway will still leave a 150m to 200m uphill second to the green perched at the top of the hill. A 4 here is always a good score.
