nice parkland style course, fairways in good nick, greens quick and true, tees a little dry loved the presentation chequered fairways always looks great. really pleasent round, play here after royal and barnbougle then shoot down to North west Bay. Not the worst course in hobart by a long way, not sure what some of these other people are on about.

great course, challenging pin placements, and generally well looked after course (except for the bunkers, need to rake them with passion to make it light/fluffy sand). a few holes that required hitting off elevated tees, which i always find fun. The wind down the back of the course can really pick up as well which makes for interesting play. pro shop staff were more than heapful even lending me some pants as no jean shorts are allowed. recommended if you want to fork out 50 bucks for a round

played this course 3 weeks ago and it was great, not sure about some of the other comments either about the worst in hobart. Greens were quick and true, fairways were cut short and in good condition, ball sat up beautifully, pins were cut tight though, maybe they had a comp or something on that weekend so that was tough. I had a chat to a member of the club and he told me the club had lost all the greens a year ago, but all seems good now, he also said the course struggled in summer(maybe that was the issue for some of the other reviews). all in all not as good as Royal however it is more interesting in terms of character, much better than Claremont and North West Bay, Tasmania was dry and patchy when I played, (water issues i was told) so it was hard to judge.Play Royal first no doubt, but to me Kingston played better than the other 3.

A well established club on the southern outskirts of Hobart, with a bit of a posh feel. The course is very well kept, but has a generic suburban feel with standard tree lined fairways that run fairly close to one another. Without the discount offered by the Golf Course Guide this course would be well overpriced.

Played this course in April 07 and found it to be very pleasant and a reasonable challenge too. Not too difficult, as my very wayward drives were sometimes better off than the moderately bad drives! But some very good holes in the 18 too. Fairways were perfect and greens were quick and true. Par 3 – 16th, about 150m, was a great looking hole and a real challenge too with the wind blowing. Will enjoy a return visit in the future. Also not sure about the comment from other users about worst major course in Hobart. Royal and Tasmania are definitely better courses but the others are not as good as Kingston Beach.

Of the five – 18 hole courses in Hobart this is the most disappointing.

An average golf course in average condition.

The only highlight of the day was the trip up the travellator, now that was fun.

Best play somewhere else…

We were charged $50 each to play, plus $25 each for hire clubs, no cost for pull cart , midweek on a slow day in February 2006.

Pretty expensive for a course like that. The pro never enquired if we were members of another club, which we are, of the two most prestigious on the Gold Coast.

No info was given on the blank cards about toilet facilities on the course, a problem for my wife.

When we returned at 3pm hoping for some refreshments, after a pretty hot round, the bar and cafe was closed, the woman in the office was in a foul mood because someone had left a seat up in the ladies (!) and we just got out of there, probably never returning.

Even a birdie on the last hole for my wife and a net 72 did not make up for the unfriendliness. It was he only time in Tasmania we found the locals so grumpy.

Situated at the base of Mt Wellington with good views of the surrounds.

A challenging but not difficult course to play. No 1 is elavated 162m Par 3 with sharp drop away of the fairway. It is walkable with some undulation and several tees elevated.Hire a Cart if you want to save your legs. Nice wide fairways and water comes into play on several holes. The rough is kind providing you don't go too far offline.
