Played here on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised at the lack of crowds – the tee-times seem to be well spaced out.

Helpful pro-shop staff, didn’t notice the dress-code being as strictly applied as the below reviews, but no point in taking chances.

Well-priced for a full length course in good condition also.

The sound of jet engines at the airport is fairly constant but not really off-putting.

Good course, tough par 3’s. One of the better publicy accessible courses.

Solid course, good value and not ridiculously busy on a weekend. Genuine hazards require decent course management. On occasion you can get away with a wayward shot, on others it will be eaten by the water. Very enjoyable day. As mentioned, the renovations presently being undertaken are being managed rather well.

The greens are pretty consistent and the fairways are nice and spongey. Will return again for sure.

PROS

  • Condition of course
  • Traffic
  • Good challenge without being overly punitive
  • Value

I played Kogarah GC last week. They are undergoing quite a bit of upheaval due to the desalination pipeline however appear to be coping very well. Staff were excellent and friendly, course was fine. Good value round.

PROS

  • Staff and greens

Cons

  • current work taking place for desalination pipeline
  • international airport noise

Played here on a Friday around midday. The course had a fair bit of traffic on it, although didn’t really get held up that much.

Narrow course in parts but provided good challenge overall and makes you pay attention to accuracy. Plenty of changing scenery including bunkers, open water, mangroves, lakes and canals etc. Plenty of local wildife also.

The fairways were in good nick and the greens were well kept. The tee areas were flat and not too beaten up.

The people on the course were friendly as was the pro-shop guy. Joined up with a fellow and played as a two-some. A couple of members joined us for the odd hole, but that was fine and they were friendly.

I’d come back for sure. 18 holes took 4 hours

i recently played this course and i found it to be in reasonable condition. The fairways were nice and lush the bunkers were well maintained but the greens in my opinion let the course down. Yes the greens are very slick but in my opinion didn’t read true. The course is nice and flat making it an easy walk with not much stress on the body from walking hills and could play fairly easy on a good day. The only thing that can stop you from having a good round is missing fairways off the tee with scattered water and bunkers with tree lined fairways. This course is also not known for quick play. If you are looking for a quick round don’t play here as it gets fairly congested. The course is also a little over priced for the quality.

I have played this course at every oppertunity for several years and i no way is that depressing! I personally quite enjoy this course, what can i say i like how it is put together the mix of par 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s is great. I would return any time and encourage anyone who has not palyed to book a game. You stay classy Kogarah GC

Played there last weekend.

One of only a few courses I've seen which doesnt display proper distance markers. I mean how hard is it to put in a couple of red and yellow stakes??

Generally requires a better upkeep of fairways and teas.

Love the sight of big 747's taking off from nearby Sydney Airport.

Some exciting holes and lots of bunkers to contend with.

Nice old clubhouse shows its age and character.

Overall an above average Sunday stroll.

Played there recently and found the course in very poor codtion for an " A " rated golf course.

It is a good test of golf with some interesting holes, but because of the drought the fairways are in terrible condition.

Why the committee do not use preferred lies was beyond me and my playing partners. Hitting a drive 250 mteres down the middle you might expect to play of grass, but no... most of the grass is gone and sand is all you will find.

Also the greens were infected with a "dollar coin disease" which made them very bumpy and unpredictable.

My suggestion... dont go there until the drought is over or they have reconstructed the course as they plan to do.

Played here for the 2nd time in the weds open comp and had another great day.

No matter what the score this place is always a testing but fun day.

The Open Day is one of the most professionally run in sydney and always has a massive field with players from many different clubs.

Cost is $32.00 and that includes $8.00 in vouchers you can use for food or at the bar.

The couse itself has had plenty of rain over the last couple of weeks and is currently looking very green.

Today I was most impressed with was the friendlyness of pro shop staff and club members.

The Members were great for a laugh and a beer afterwards and Hosts in clubhouse gladly offered to help us enter our cards into an unfamiliar system as soon as we came in.

The pro-shop staff were just as friendly while running the usuall tight ship with a large field to get through. As I was leaving I even saw them helping out a few blokes who had been locked out of thier car.

Thank you again for a great day, your all a credit to your club..

Kogarah GC is a private course that allows social golfers a hit (advance bookings only). The course was in great condition when I played this week. Greens were firm, but not too quick. Fairways were good, not great, a few lighter patches than normal.

Par 72 and a conventional mix of 6 par 3's , 4's and 5's. It allows the big bitters room to stretch, but must be accurate as a few holes are tight. The 8th hole along the Cooks River can get noisy when aircrafts are testing their engines, and is very challenging when the wind blows. Some holes test your ego with a few lay-ups, that are necessary to take to score low. Hazards include water (1st, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 11th, 16th, 17th) and plenty of bunkers. Sand in bunkers is quite fine.

An excellent course but green fees are a little high $30 for a weekday and $40 on w'ends. The clubhouse is quite excellent and prices for beers quite standard. Proshop can be a little testy, but alright. A good course overall with many challenges for all levels of golfers. 3.5 Stars.

Despite our buggy stopping and starting throughout the round and their being very slow play ahead, I enjoyed this course. A really nice par three from an elevated tee hitting toward the river.

It was a beautiful sun set that day too. A shame I shot more than I would have liked. I think it's a course you could really carve up - some of those par 5's are gettable in two no worries.

The course was well maintained with some interesting dog leg holes - one doouble dog leg too.

I'd play here again but won't be rushing back.

Only a year into my game this is a good challenge and can be rewarding for those of us who don't necessarily hit the right fairway each time!

The fact that it is quite forgiving means that you should carry a crash helmet - balls are falling everywhere but that kinda gives the course a relaxed feel as long as you don't take this game too seriously...

Have played it now 4 or 5 times - the course is in fairly good nick for the price you pay (but nothing spectacular) but if you play it on a windy day get used to seeing the rough, especially on the front 9.

Not quite sure if they've relaxed the rules from some of the previous member's comments, but I've always seen plenty of players totally out of "official" dress code and single players just rocking up at the end of the day to get on, staff seem pretty relaxed themselves. Worth the 30 mins drive from the city just to get your confidence up for the game. Only my view of course.

Over rated golf course, staff extremely strict with dress code, many social players end up being turned away for not having pure white socks. With that approach you would expect bit more class out of the course itself, in fact it is very poor for a private course. You get a feeling it caters only to members.

I have played kogarah a few times and found it to be a good test of golf on each occasion, you need to be pretty straight or you will find yourself in trouble, it has some good short holes which make you think on the tee rather than just stepping up and belting driver, give it a try.

Flat, but often windy. Well bunkered, small greens can make approach shots interesting. Very short for it's par. A couple of the par 5's should made into long par 4's.

Very tight, so make sure you understand the meaning of 'FORE'.

The 18 hole course at Kogarah is a tight, tree lined parkland course with well bunkered greens. Uniquely, the course features six par fours, six par fives and you've guessed it, six par threes.

The 18th hole in particular is a test for any golfer, a long dogleg par four to an elevated green perched atop a hill in front of the clubhouse.

Situated a stone's throw from Sydney International Airport, Kogarah is welcoming to visitors and a true test of golf.
