Played Leura last week while the girls did the shops in leura. The course was lush and well presented. You can really open your shoulders on the par fours, twice on the long par fives, but you need to be able to hit the ball straight. Surprising views on the back nine which we had to ourselves. Nearly played to handicap. Had a great burger in the clubhouse. Hope to be back soon.

I hadn’t played Leura for many years and was a bit reluctant to play due to the bad reports I had heard. There have been problems with the Fairmont Resort next to the course going into receivership and the club having to borrow money off members to stay afloat. The club has also recently put land up for sale to try and assist the financially struggling club. As a result of financial problems I have heard there are only limited course staff and it shows.
Anything off the fairway is met with very deep grass and in sections the course is extremely boggy and needs work on drainage. The bunkers are compacted and weeds and grass are encroaching and most of the paths between holes are as rough as. The gardens around the course are non-existent and it doesn’t seem that any work has gone into beautifying the course.
Holes 1 to 10 are very boring but 12 through to 18 get much better and take advantage of great views over the Jamison Valley. The back half is the hilly side of the course which will test your stamina. There are a few water hazards on this side of the course and the view from the 14th green is spectacular.
Leura is the most expensive of the four upper mountains clubs and used to be rated as the best. I have seen better maintained council courses and sadly as far as I am concerned it would now rate fourth. I base this on living in the upper mountains and having played all the Upper Mountain Courses over the last couple of months.
Wentworth Falls is the longest course and whilst Katoomba is the shortest I consider this the most challenging. I am not a member of any club at the moment, so am not biased towards any clubs in particular. My suggestion is stay clear of Leura and give Katoomba, Wentworth Falls or Blackheath a try.

I have played Leura on several ocassions while on holiday in the Blue Mountains. On balance I find it disappointing. There are a number of good holes in the main paddock but the holes in the second paddock (2 to 9) are mostly disapointing and could be found on many better council courses. The other MAJOR problem is the number of non-golfers who decide to have their once in 10 year hit as they are staying in the major resort that is right on the edge of the golf course. In fact a hooked tee shot on the first hole has a reasonable chance of bouncing off the resort building and coming back into play. You’ll play a better golf course if you drive 10 minutes back towards Sydney. I’d rate it a 2 as a course but only 1 given the number of non-golfers and delay that you are likely to encounter.

Found the golf course to be in very good condition given the drought conditions. Greens were very fast and challenging. Staff at the course were very friendly. By far the best course I’ve played at in the area.

I enjoyed my game at Leura, I found the course challenging as a fairly average golfer. The views are amazing form the back of the course. Greens where really challenging. Was in better condition than other courses in the area. I dont think you would be dissapointed with this course. When in the Blue Mountains I would recommend this course. I hope to play this course again.

Course is in really good condition, greens are excellent and really quick and fairways are in really good condition.

Great people and great views. A really nice course.

Played there on Wednesday in the open comp, walk up start. $15. Front nine is relatively flat with some good mix of hole length. Back Nine starts the descent down the side of the mountain and then climbs back to the club. Greens even though they small they are nice complexes with most having 2 or 3 tiers that the pin can be placed upon making holes different every time you play there.

On the hole a nice little course that undoubtedly you would play better the more you play there, local knowledge is a definite advantage.

played leura today and although enjoyable was was pulling my hair out with the greens.

for the first 6 holes they were very bumpy due to the frost but when they thawed out were extremly fast and very hard to read ,the front 9 is fairly straight forward and requires little thought however the back 9 attracts your attention with plenty of course management needed i thought holes 12, 13, 14, 16 were unfair as a well hit drive was almost impossible to keep on the fairway due to the contours of the course however these were probably the strongest holes,at $25 on a sunday it is a bargain oh and by the way take a camera with you as the veiws are superb

Leura GC is a par-70 layout in the Blue Mountains with a lot of hilly fairways and hazards to be wary of. A lot of the fairway/rough shots are not straightforward level shots that most golfers are used to which presents an interesting challenge in club selection and set-up. The greens can be slow due to the early morning dew but within a round become fast. The views of the Jamieson valley are spectacular on some of the back nine holes and certainly help golfers in the midst of a bad round forget their woes.

Leura is more challenging than Blackheath and many balls can be lost due to thick bushland and strategically placed water hazards, particularly the dam in front of the tee on the par-5 that requires a 120m carry. This is a golf course that has few 'easy' holes and the visiting golfer would do well to play to their handicap here. Good fun with yawning valley views to ponder.

Leura is a good Golf course and probably one of the better ones in the Blue Mountains. Like most courses in NSW it has been affected by the drought but it has held up well compared to many others. The greens at Leura are excellent and will test even the best putters. The course while not very long can still challenge all levels of Golfer and there are a number of holes that will reward the player willing to take a risk. The view from the 14th green is amazing and on a fine day can make a player forget even the worst round. Definately worth a visit.

Leura is a very pleasent course to play for all types of golfers. The better players still can find themselves in trouble if playing to long on a majority of holes. At present the course is starting to resemble it's former self, after the drought they suffered in that region. The fairway water system just installed will prevent any futher damage being done in the near future. The greens were cored early March, and at present they are in beautiful condition, playing very true. With the course set amongst the magnificant Blue Mountains you will find yourself breathless, especially once on the 14th green.

Enjoy.
