Located just a few blocks from Manly’s famous beaches, Manly Golf Club is one of Australia’s oldest golf clubs, celebrating its Centenary in 2003.

The Club has a formidable golfing and social history and, over the years, we have played host to many championship and corporate events.

Our function rooms cater for groups both large and small and our Executive Chef and his team are renowned for innovation and flexibility, offering everything from appetising finger food to gourmet three-course meals, complemented by a comprehensive wine selection.

The course is challenging, but not tortuous, with multiple tees giving golfers of all standards the ability to enjoy their game with an appropriate level of challenge.

The course is currently open as a 9 hole course. Still as flat as many of the other reviewers have commented (it is a flood plain) but is now completely rebuilt and is no longer boring. Some good short par 4’s offer risk/reward off the tee. The par 3, 4th hole is a true test of golf. A much more open environment then the previous course it gives the impression of a links golf course and can be very difficult when windy. I would recommend waiting till all 18 is available as the course can be extremely busy with people going round twice.

PROS

  • Good strategic golf course, couch fairways and pure bent greens

Cons

  • Still being grown in so turf condition can be ordinary in areas
  • Two back to back par 5's which involve laying up off the tee, depending on wind and tee position

Well maintained course, but very flat and very boring. Also the staff that work there are not the most friendly people.

How this course attracts golfers is beyond me – flat and boring, not a hole that you could remember as one with any character – weak 3’s and a few very ordinary par 4’s at the clubhouse end of the course. The outstanding feature is definitely the clubhouse, which is superb, but it outranks the layout by a street.

I played here a few weeks ago and found it to be pretty boring , a lot of straight holes that did nothing to excite or make you think wow what a hole , the course was in great condition considering the lack of water sydney has had although the greens were slowish considering the captain had told us they had been cut and rolled ,would hate to play them if they hadn't been cut and rolled ,all in all if you get offered a FREE game there it is worth the game but i would be loathe to ever have to pay to play there

Manly has some really good holes. The par 4 first is a good start and the stretch 5 through 9, across the road, is also good. Yet a couple of holes near the clubhouse lack character, almost like the designer ran out of room and just filled in the land to complete eighteen holes.

Nonetheless the couple of times I've played the course it has been in good condition, and there's something attractive about a par 3 finish, especially when you're playing a tight match.

I've left the course thinking it is almost in the top rank, but as it is design that holds it back it may have to live with that tag.
