Time for an unbiased review from interstate and a non-member…measures 2863m Par 37 with two par 3s ranging from 118-119m, four par 4s ranging from 296-372m and three short par 5s ranging from 421-445m.

There are alternate tee mounds within 50m of either the front or back nines which change the par of only the 1st / 10th hole. All other tee mounds are close to each other without a change in the hole’s par or angle to the green. To play 18 holes the course still measures 5707m Par 73.

Course has fairly lush rye/kikuyu grass fairways with slow and small bent grass greens. The opening 3 holes has medium-sized pine tree-lined fairways, then you play the rest of the course with more sparser tree-lined wider fairways with a few gentle hills to climb. There are only 5 bunkers on the course.

1st-445m Par 5 / 10th-390m Par 4 slightly downhill gentle dogleg left to a bunkerless green
2nd-372m / 11th-362m slightly uphill with a teeshot over a crest to a bunkerless green
3rd-421m Par 5 / 12th-443m Par 5 with a blind teeshot over a crest which bends to the left and is downhill from the crest to the green guarded by a bunker left and OOB homes on the far left.
4th-119m / 13th-140m uphill to a small green guarded by a bunker short right
5th-348m / 14th-332m which doglegs 90 degrees to the left from 200m off the tee with an OOB fence on the left to a bunkerless green
6th-118m / 15th-131m uphill to a small front-sloping green guarded by 2 bunkers short
7th-422m Par 5 / 16th-440m Par 5 dogleg left with the OOB cemetery fence on the left to a green with a bunker 30m short right
8th-322m / 17th-330m uphill dogleg left with short trees on the dogleg corner to a bunkerless green
9th-296m / 18th-276m which doglegs 90 degrees to the left from 200m off the tee to a bunkerless green.

Some good holes with the par 3s short, uphill but bunkered. The par 5s are quite short and generally unchallenging for the better golfers.

Mannum’s 9-holer is most definitely better than the black soil scrapes at Cambrai which is 20 minutes north of Mannum and also better than Swan Reach and Tailem Bend.

Mannum is self-titled as the ‘birthplace of the River Murray Paddle Steamers’ and is a nice pretty small town of around 2000 people about 1 hour east of Adelaide on the western side of the Murray River.

Played here 3rd October 2011 with $15 green fees. Course access is from Douglas Street on the southern edge of the town. I recommend a round here and at Murray Bridge which is 20 minutes south. There is no proshop here.

Despite being probably the most challenging and best conditioned 9-holer in the area do not expect a 5-star course conditioning here as it is maintained by its members and volunteers.

“as a member of the golf club, the course at the moment is in good condition. Our course fees are good as well it’s $15 all day until 4pm then the fee changes to $11 after 4 pm for a round of 18”.

the course plays to it s par, the longest is the 1st at 445 metres and the shortest is the 6th at 118 metres. The 6th for the men has two bunkers in front of the green but there is plenty of room to land the ball if short. the other is the 1st a long dogleg left par 5 with no bunkers and the only enemy on this hole is the trees.

the last review i’ll add, is that the trees here on this course make you play your shots and place them as well, these are the holes to watch out for 2,3,5,7 and 8 other than that its a great course to play on.

if i had rate out of ten it would have to be 8.5 out of ten
