Nice to play. I especially enjoined the kangaroos on the course. Greenfee is quite moderate.

This a fairly short, but reasonable country course. The Par is 72 for both Men and Women, however the course ratings are 70 for Men and 69 for Women.

The fairways are watered and so are in good condition. The greens are quite small but very firm and fast. Most greens are raised and a little saucer-like in shape so it is easy to have a good approach roll off the green sideways and leave you an almost impossible chip. To be fair we played on a Friday and they were rolling the greens that morning, so they were as quick and firm as they could be.

The green fees are normally $29 for 18 holes, but on Mondays and Fridays you can play for $10. It is quite flat and so an easy walk.

Not much in the way of bunkering and a couple of water hazards, but nothing to scare you. It is good value for money, especially on Mondays and Fridays and is well worth a game if you are in the area.

It certainly is much greener and flatter than Atherton, nearby.

At 5977m, Mareeba’s par 72 course is your typical flat, country style layout. Most fairways are fairly open, however there are many dogleg holes and a few where an accurate drive is a must. There is water in play on the 3rd, 4th and 15th and bunkers are pretty scarce. Infact, all of the two bunkers at Mareeba are confided to the 18th green! This elevated green looks very daunting from the clubhouse, but the rest are all fairly straight forward. The greens were consistent but very hard so the chip and run option might suit best. Irrigation helps keep the fairways green during the dry season but is more pleasing in appearance in and after the wet. Overall the course was good value but just lacked that extra attention to detail you might find 20 minutes down the road…

When i played this course it was in perfect condition beautiful green fairways and greens were true if you could read them. i am a 24 handicap player and played to it although i had a bad game. There were a couple of par 4’s that i reached in 1 but i am an ordinary putter so i still only got 4 on these holes. This course can be easy if u hit long and straight if you cant the trees can be unforgiving. The kangaroos make the day even more enjoyable.

The only thing i think this course needs is more sand bunkers along the fairways and around the greens

I have played many courses in Queensland including Royal Pines,Robina Woods,Palm Meadows on the gold coast and The Willows in Townsville as well as several country courses and i rate Mareeba as one of the best country courses. I will definately play this course again on my next visit

I played this course last summer and it was a typical fine, hot day on the Tablelands. The course was getting pretty dry being near the end of summer, but the occasional storms mean there is still greenery about and the overall conditioning was fine.

The course is a par 72 (36 36) layout with ACR 70. It’s an open country parkland style course with mainly a line or two of eucalypts bordering each fairway so not much difficulty. Only a few hazards dotted about the 18 holes, so a fairly easy scoring course. No real standout holes.

$25 green fees seem a little steep for a country course but given the attention to course conditioning, not unreasonable. Also, given the proximity to Cairns where everything is inflated due to the tourist market (especially the green fees) it’s fine.

If I’m staying in or passing through Mareeba again I’d happily play here again.

i played this course a couple of times on a recent holiday to mareeba to see my brother. with the unsociable hours i play(love me 5am tee offs!) i went solo and would have loved someone to rave about it to. my 2 year old son is always up then so ill take him next time! beautifully green, simple layout, for someone like me who hovers around the 100-mark it was a treat. i hit an 86 on the second day! there are tons of kangaroos but they tend to congregate so only in the way on one or two holes. the key is to bring your straight game with you. you'll get the course to yourself if you go early, just remember the honesty box to pay green fees! only hazard here is the pre-programming of the watering of greens, you'll be lining up a putt and all of a sudden youll get a cannon of water squirt at you! i look forward to me next trip up north! Measures 5977m Par 72 with 4 Par 3s ranging from 140-175m, 10 Par 4s ranging from 280-390m and four Par 5s ranging from 470-515m. Course lacks thought in planning and options off the tee. Some holes are short and most greens are bunkerless.

Highlights include 355m Par 4 3rd with dogleg left with lake on the dogleg turn catching any short cutters mishits and OOB on the right.

Played here 26/7/06 and paid $25 green fees on this flat and slightly boring layout. Probably more the social and beginners.

Considering the annual rainfall on the tablelands, the locals must be wondering where the next decent fall is. Unfortunately the fairways were nearly as dry as home in the Central Highlands.

Combined with a flat, back and forth layout, and no hidden perils, the dry meant plenty of run and only lots of gum trees and kangaroos to negotiate.

This 20odd handicapper had a shocker but still managed a halfway respectable score. Having fairways to either side of most holes encouraged getting out the big fella and having a lash.

No holes stick in the memory however the sound of golf ball on tree lingers.

Being the only eighteen hole course on the Atherton Tableland makes this course a must on any tableland visit.

The course is open and relatively flat but a challenge to all players. The greenstaff here do a fantastic job and the clubhouse has full facilities.

There are wild kangaroos on the course and prolific wildlife.

An enjoyable course in a cool tropical climate within an hour of Cairns International Airport.

ENJOY..
