Golfers and those just out for a walk enjoy the abundant flora and fauna, including kangaroos, geese, rabbits and many varieties of birds. Apart from planted species there are also magnificent examples of local trees including karri, jarrah, marri and peppermints. The course winds it way up the slopes of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste ridge with the last five holes in particular affording spectacular views of the rolling countryside and vineyards.

Clubs, buggies and carts are available for hire at the on-course golf shop that also stocks balls, tees and a small range of equipment. The course is always presented in excellent condition, much to the credit of local members who established the course largely through their own volunteer efforts.

Although not heavily bunkered the course features numerous water hazards. The back nine in particular requires careful shot consideration owing to the undulating fairways and large trees. Over the past decade the course has risen in standing and is now one of Western Australia’s most highly regarded country courses.

Reasonable course, we played it about 2 1/2 weeks after the greens were cored and they were slow but in fairly good condition. The fairways were in good condition. The front nine is the better of the two nines as the last six holes on the back nine have quite severe slope from one side or the other, so difficult stances for shots and the ball falls away off the fairway. We walked the course and it was a reasonable walk. Green fees of $30 for 18 holes are good value. We played on a Sunday morning and got around in just over 3 hours, so not too busy either. They have a big comp on Thursday, but don’t appear to have any on the weekend

The golf course at margeret river is a very pleasant course. The course is fairly up and down, with great greens and fairly good fairways. The course needs a few more challenges and water. Overall though, a really nice course and a peaceful and enjoyable days golf.
