There are 9 red-to-brown dirt sand greens with no grass on the fairways. The fairways are red dirt just like the Wilcannia-Menindee Road leading into Menindee!
There is also some concrete tee mound areas with a thin black rubber mat to tee off on otherwise there is just a dirt mound to tee off on. There is an option to take a sythetic grass mat to hit off the ’fairways’ only.
All holes are straight like the 372m 1st/10th. No bunkers just basic golf here.
Despite the sign post board saying there are 980 people, some locals say that figure is inflated, Menindee is a small town of around 650 people (2006 ABS Census) at approximately 70m above sea level on the northern side of the Darling River.
The course can be accessed 7km east of the town centre on the southern side of the Darling River and about 2km past the S-bend curve over the railway line crossing on the Wilcannia-Menindee Road.
Menindee is 110km (or about 1 hour) south-east of Broken Hill along the fully sealed Menindee Road. Also to note, unlike Broken Hill which is on Adelaide Central Time, Menindee is on Sydney Eastern Standard Time.
All other roads leading into Menindee are dirt/gravel roads. Nice friendly town on the border of the Kinchega National Park but the course is no drawcard.
