Not a bad course for the money. A little inconsistent in places but for $35 you can’t go wrong!

Measures 5815m Par 72 with 5 Par 3s ranging from 105-160m, 8 Par 4s ranging from 305-410m and five Par 5s ranging from 440-475m. Course has well maintained, but slow greens flat teebeds with grass cover and lush fairways. Most holes are flat and straight with few bunkers.
Highlights include the 355m Par 4 14th with OOB on the right with creek along the left with leftside green bunker. The shortest Par 4 on the course 305m 16th is also the trickiest in approach to the teired green with lake short right and bunker between green an lake on the right.
Played here 26/7/06 and paid $30 green fees on this flat tree-lined course layout. Nice change from the Port Douglas courses in the area, but you must play here first to appreciate the resort style courses more.

An amazing number of locals from Port Douglas are members/regulars at Mossman. Now I know why.
Though the standard is one step below the big resort courses it is interesting, demanding and fun.
Fairways are tight with lots and lots of trees(this is the tropical north after all) yet not scary. Met a lot of golfers using each others fairways, a very social course indeed.
This 20odd handicapper struggled but managed to smile most of the way around. Will definitely return to have another go, especially with the more than competitive costs (half the price, twice the value)
No particular hole to point out, just a good combiation all round. Even the journey here adds to the attraction. Walk or cart, your choice but I reckon the humidity would be sapping mid summer.
The Relic.

We hired a car and made the trip from Cairns to MGC to find a locals club that was super friendly and a course of contrasts. Starts off as an open course with medium to large trees where you can spray it without too much punishment to holes where fairways are lined with forest that are so thick only golf balls can penetrate. Play with your head on these holes and you will be rewarded, try and muscle your way through and this sleepy track will bite.
There are also more large trees in the fairways at MGC than I've seen in total from all other courses!
Some of the pathways between holes should be taken slowly to enjoy the forest and wildlife. Greens were being top dressed when we were playing, managed to play half the course on the unsanded and they were fine. Although the staff told me in another 5 weeks they will be perfect.
A tip; if you are from down south take a cart as it can get hot and humid very quickly.

While I lived in Port Doulas for 18 months or so I had the absolute pleasure of being a member at this beautifull course the best kepted secret of the far north, I only hope that after people read this they venture to as the members know the course Royal Mossman, you will experience something quite unique and special, one moment your in the rainforest hitting golf balls the next your seeing coloured butterflys flying everywhere, onto the golf very testing golf course alot of trees little water, small but very good greens, wide fairways on most holes but beware of the 7th hole very tight teeshot, think wise not with your ego and you will have the time of your life.
Pro-shop greg, Pete, Don and Mathew will look after you what ever day of the week it is.

Played this course during the week and it is a gem, be sure to play if in the Cairns area. The fairways are short but in great nick and the greens were hard and fast. Not a great challenge but a good enjoyable round at a great price.
