what a great course! it is not overly long but the course isn’t wide. which provides enough of a challenge for a player of my ability. the elevated quick greens showed how important chipping is here to get a good score.
the scenery is really spectacular with the mountain never far away from site. there was a storm went through on about the 13th hole in my round and i caught up with a local, who was none too happy to play the rest of the round. all the locals were very friendly. i will definitely return here any day.

The Course played really well, we haven’t had rain for some time but the course had very soft greens and fairways, fast greens and great layout
I will be back

Played here a couple of weeks ago. The course was in fantastic condition (apart from the new 17th fairway) and the greens were like lightening. I’ve played most of the resort courses up on the Sunny Coast (plus most member’s type courses) – the former Hyatt Regency, Twin Waters, Peregian Springs, Pelican Waters, Pacific Harbour – and the conditioning of Mt Coolum is very similar in most aspects to these. The greens were certainly as fast, if not faster than the aforementioned courses.

The par 5 17th hole – one of my former favourites from years ago – has undergone a facelift and now has three largish fairway bunkers on the lefthand side making the drive just that more difficult if you’re a shorter hitter. Longer hitters should be able to carry the new bunkers with a good strike, from most teeing positions. The new 17th fairway was still looking a little rough around the edges and they were playing the tee-up rule if you’re on the fairway. Other than that, the course was in superb condition.

I personally can’t wait for the new works on the 17th to settle in. This will make a great course even better.

This is still arguably my favourite member’s style course…and no, I’m not a member here, despite wishing to be!!

Played Mt Coolum recently after alot of heavy rain. The course still presented brilliantly. Such a challenging layout. Pro shop staff were very friendly. Would definetly return.

Played this course a few times now and it always impresses. I was pleasantly surprised when we played after some heavy rain at how well the course handled the water. Obviously it was wet but the greens drained very quickly and the fairways though heavy were still playable. The course is picure perfect and very challenging. Lots of water and dense tree areas. The 17th hole is still under work and that is the only downside of the course though one I am happy to overlook. I rate it the best course on this end of the Coast for the money. If you book on Iseek you get $5 off the normal fee.

PROS

  • Beautiful course, very challenging especially for a hacker like me.

Cons

  • 17th under construction but nearly there.

Good course. Best holes are 4,5,6 and 13,14,15. Greens are very fast and well kept. Only issue for me is that there were too many short par 3’s on the back nine. Overall a nice experience

Thoroughly enjoyed the course, despite the golf. Target greens, many of them elevated, test your approach shots. They played havoc withnour GIR stats!
Good course for walking, friendly locals. 2 of us got around in 3.5 hours on a Friday afternoon.
Will definitely return

We play mount coolum about 4 times a mnth using the iseek booking system absoloutly love the course lots of challenges to face always in good knick.. The management of tee times needs to be looked at as they have a knack off over booking as we experienced yesterday when it took us 3 hrs to play 9 holes fair as to say we didn’t hang around 2 play the 2nd 9

With all the rain that they had the course was still in good condition. The par 5s with tight fairways and water in play make it a real challenge. Its relatively flat so there is no problem walking the course. Greens were in great condition and fairways were great to hit off. The scenic views of Mt Coolum as a backdrop on certain holes is a real feature and its great value considering its $39 green fees. Will definitely play it again next time I’m up that way.

With an even amount of par 3s, 4s and 5s, Mt Coolum gives a good opportunity to score well on the shorter holes. However some 500m+ par 5s with tight fairways and water in play make a real challenge. The layout is generally pretty flat so there is no problem walking the 5765m course. Greens are in great condition and fairways are like carpet and a pleasure to hit off.. Water hazards are cleverly placed around most holes and can even punish a straight tee shot on hole 4. The scenery in and around the course is a real feature and the overall presentation is well worth the $39 green fee.

A truely beautiful course with Mt Coolum serving as a backdrop over the greens for a number of holes. Found the course to be pretty tight, but probably not as difficult as first anticipated.
Loved the front 9 for layout, condition and scenery; but the back nine was ruined for me by the extensive course renovations/repairs, particularly the 17th which everyone commented is the most beautiful hole – but ruined with soil mounds taking up a significant portion of the faiway (also narrowing the fairway on an already tight hole). I would play this course again – but only when the renovations and repairs are completed!

Not the way golf is meant to be played. Tiny tiny greens that are hard as a rock. The average members age is 70+ so you in for a slow round if you play in the comp. You will be slugged a big whack in green fees $44 to walk. No par 4s from the 10th hole untill the 18th. They need to remove most of the greens and replace them with genuine targets and stop relying on the hyatt for coolums reputation.

GREAT COURSE, CHEAPER THAN UP THE ROAD – HYATT, STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL, THE 17TH DRIVE & CUT THE CORNER ON FOR 2 ON A PAR 5 WITH MT.COOLUM AS THE BACKDROP, DOES IT GET ANY BETTA……

A great day was had on this course, (the worst day playing golf is still better that the best day at work) which sums up how I played.
It was strange when we turned up, the pro didn’t seem to know about the Iseek way of doing things. We got our card and teed off straight away.
The course is in great condition and what about the views? I think the oldied are out in the morning having a great time and they are very friendly.
Big thumbs up!

It is a truly a gem of a course.Quite a tricky course and if your not on your game can be very unforgiving.Money for valueis good considering the layout and the panoramic views of the glorious Mt. Coolum. Most fairways are quite narrow, greens are quite quick, many many trees about(even in the middle of the fairway on one hole)and a few water hazards make it for a very challenging course.Par 5 17th is probably the most difficult hole with the water and the bunkers ut the view to the cliff face of Mt. Coolum is truly amazing.A must play course to the serious golfer.

PROS

  • Challenging,Great Views and Maintenance of course

Cons

  • Not for the social hacker

Played 26/10/09

Really tight track, some great holes, some hohum. Mt Coolum as the backdrop on a few holes is spectacular. As someone pointed out, the back nine is alternate Par 3’s and 5’s until the last which is a Par 4, kinda odd.

Smallish greens which were difficult to hold, course was very dry and a lot of work being done.

At $44 didn’t consider it great value particularly as we were not told that they were sanding the greens that day. Why do courses deliberately not tell punters. We would have still played but perhaps a $5 reduction on fees or a free beer in the clubhouse would have been the go. We were going to have a few beers and lunch in the clubhouse but decided to go elsewhere cause they obviously didn’t give a crap about us.

Doesn’t look much from the road and clubhouse (quite cramped and small greens) but it spreads out after a few holes and it is not easy by any means. It is very easy to get out of position through poor approach shots and leave yourself with no shot. Unusually there are an equal number of Par 3, 4, and 5’s. Interesting short Par 5 17th with the option to go over the water with your 2nd, a real risk-reward hole. Lovely views of Mt Coolum but watch out for the insects if playing near dusk, there is a lot of water on the last 6 holes.

This is a great course to play which is soooo much cheaper than many other options. Sure, it is not quite manicured to the standards of the resort courses, but there are a number of holes that could easily be in any of the big courses 18 and not be out of place.
The greens are all pretty small, which is fairly uncommon these days. Most are slightly elevated, so precision shots are pretty well rewarded.
There are a few moments where some information on distances to hazards would not go astray, but all in all this course is great. Make sure you take the aerogard though as you may have an arm taken off by some of the mozzies down the back of the course!
The new holes are superb, the old holes are pretty good but a bit short. I didn’t know what to expect when I went and got a great suprise – I would rate it above Headland and Horton Park for value golfing on the Coast

Played here yesterday. Only played front nine which I found to be very tight and some interesting holes. im not a long hitter by any imagination but found that I could have good opportunities to birdie the Par 5’s. Great little course. Great staff in pro shop and enjoyed the day.

Played at Mt Coolum on 28th September 2008. Have played there many times and always find it a challenging course. The fairways are generally in good condition (although a bit dry on this occasion). Playing times are well spaced and rarely if ever have to wait for the players ahead of you, whether walking or in a cart. Overall, can recommend Mt Coolum for all levels of player.

Played on the weekend and the course was very wet and soggy in areas, albeit, we have had next to no rain for a week so drainage is obviously an issue. The greens were average. On a positive note; the course was very challenging, tempted you to go long when it wasnt the safest option. And to have Mt Coolum towering over the fairways make for quite the surreal view. Great value. Worth playing if you want to be tested.

Played this course during the Australian PGA. Club pro was kind enough to let my partner & I tee-off just before a large group of punters with no idea! A pretty good track. A decent challenge. Scenic with plenty of hazard. Not in the same class as neighbouring courses but save yourself a small fortune in green fees & golf balls.

I have reciprical rights with this course and played in a Saturday comp with a friend of mine. It so happened we were paired with Stephen Bowditch's dad who is a member. He is great value for a laugh but always a great golfer.

This is one tough course when the wind gets up which seems to be all the time.

The course is divided into two half, the old and the new. The new holes are fantastic but extremely difficult and require low stragectory shots to keep out of the wind. The main battle on these holes is the wind always seems to be across you and so you have to aim your shot out over the bush to land it in the middle of the fairway. I'm not a big fan of doing this as sometimes the wind doesn't blow when you need it to and you hit it straight in the bush.

This is a real thinking course and despite the crappy score I enjoyed the day.

I can't remember the hole number because we played the course back to front but there is this one par five played away from Mt Coolum and it bends to the left around trees and a pond up to a bunkerless green the view back down this hole from the green toward Mt Coolum is magic. The word PURE comes to mind

It truly is. Again this Kiwi couldn't handle the shift from NZ winter to Queensland greens. Truly value for money. A challenge, don't take it lightly. Some holes will challenge each and evry one of you - no matter your handicap. The course is very popular, but with a little planning you'll get a game. As a single they paired me up with all sorts and it was fun.

I want to go back

I have just returned from a lovely holiday in Qld. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Coolum, our package did not include golf so we enquired about playing and were told that it would be $154.00 per player including a shared cart! That was going to cost us $616 for the 4 of us to play one round of golf. We look around the corner and found Mt. Coolum, and what a pleasant surprise. This course must be the best kept secret in Qld. Magnificent views, beautifully maintained course, greens were great, an incredibly challenging course without being intimidating, there is water on 12 holes but the water is used to enhance the game not totally dominate it in the way that most Qld. Courses do. With green fees of $30 club hire from $15 a friendly club that welcomes visitors. The course is an easy walk but carts are available should you need one.

This is a truly unique golf course. A challenging front nine makes way for a back nine that runs as follows: Par 3,5,3,5,3,5,3,5,4.

There is some great risk/reward holes on this track that make every tee shot a test of your nerve. The short 17th gives you a real opportunity to add an eagle to your scorecard whilst still keeping a snowman (8) as an option.

This is also a great course to take visitors to QLD for a hit. Kangaroos and other wildlife frequent this course whilst the Mt Coolum backdrop makes for some stunning scenery. Additionally the green fees are excellent for this region compared to the "rock star" neighbouring courses.

Off the course the locals are friendly and the clubhouse has a superb deck to enjoy a quiet beer on.

My one criticism of this course is it's greens which seem to be permanently under maintenance. I'm sure that when they get these up to scratch this track will be one of the best kept secret slices of golfing paradise.

This is a very beautiful and picturesque course nestled at the foot of Mt Coolum. It's in a golfer's dream location, right beside Hyatt Regency Coolum G.C. and with Twin Waters only 5 min away. This golf course holds it's own however against it's two more well known cousins, due firstly to it's green fee (around $30), and secondly it's a great test on all golf games. The fairways(very tight on certain holes) and greens are a joy to play on. There are a lot of beautiful holes on this course, but none more so than the par 5 17th, with Mt Coolum as the backdrop and a lake guarding the green front and right. I highly recommend you play this course. You won't be disappointed!
