Is this really Adelaide’s best kept golfing secret? Cheap golf and so close to the CBD. The friendly members and staff make everyone welcome. There is no difficulty for Green fee paying visitors to get tee times most days.

Matt and Tony (http://golfingsa.webs.com) describe the 1st hole as "possibly the best first hole we have played" and who could argue with that. In July 2010 Golf Australia Magazine gave the course an honourable mention in an article about golf courses in and around Adelaide.

There are many challenging holes, but isn’t that what golf is all about? When the course is set in such beautiful surroundings only a few short ks from Stirling and Aldgate, a round here leaves you with a feeling that whatever your score, you have had a lovely stroll through a beautiful part of the Adelaide Hills.

The location of the course in the Adelaide Hills gives it a quiet ambiance that few courses can match. It is a short challenging layout that tests your accuracy off the tee and course management skills. The fourth hole alone is worth the visit to play Mount Lofty, it requires a well positioned tee shot from an elevated tee and then a heart stopping iron shot to the green across the creek that runs through the course. There are some great par threes that make the course very enjoyable to play. Some very slick greens tests your putting as well. The course can get wet in winter but is well worth the visit in the Spring, Summmer, and especially in the Autumn months.

If there is one thing this course does, it's punish anything not hit on the short green stuff. Bring plenty of balls. I played this course as part of obtaining my handicap, and it has inflated my final figure abit. Extremely hilly course, and a cart is a must here. The greens and fairways were in nice condition, not many bunkers come into play, some water and nasty rough. All in all, a nice course considering the land it sits on.

Mount Lofty is a great little course - it is very short with only one par 5 and some of the par 4 are little more than 200-300 metres. However, due to the sloping fairways on the majority of the holes and some very tricky narrow fairways (with mean rough!) it is a very testing course. You can take a driver from most tees, but beware, often a fairway wood or iron is more advisable. The course is set in the stunning Adelaide Hills and when it's stinking hot down on the plains, there is nothing better than having a plesent evening stroll around this lovely course after work to cool down. The course plays it's best in the warmer months, as during the winter the fairways become very soft and the course plays far harder - you won't get any roll! Lovely greens and fairways - very pretty.
