Played there over Easter weekend.

Overly sloped fairways – you can crack a straight shot off the tee and have the ball roll onto an adjoining fairway on almost every Par 4 / Par 5.

Nice looking course, particularly given the location and the fact that there is little rain there at the moment.

Some of the fairways were very dry, however the greens were in good condition.

Good course for a relaxing game – but not much of a challenge.

played mt martha public course for the first time on aust day 2010.. i found it a fantastic course in great nick considering te lack of rain fall in december and january small bunkers that line the fair ways around the landing zone make it important to stay on track
the ruff was typical gum tree lined ruff of sticks and dirt.
the fairways were nice and green and the rolling layout made your lie interesting if if you hit up the middle
good variation in hole lengths made club selection interesting

all and all i would gladly play there over and over…and priced well for a round..it was quiet for a public holiday which was nice too
greens were dewy and slow in the early ’am’ but dried and quickend up buy late ’am’ early ’pm’

i totally agree with SOAR09, has to be the most improved course on the mornington peninsula in the past year. used to be an absolute dustbowl.still very cheap aswel- i think around 20$ for 18 holes what a bargain. certainly worth a go if your sort on time too as its a very short course.

As a Mornington Peninsula Golfer i would rate Mt Martha the most improved Course in the District.
The switch to Conquest ( couch) on the fairways has dramatically bettered the Course for Summer time Golf.Abundant grey water has Mt Martha G.C in an enviable position for course conditioning.
Course rewards some sensible Tee shots where driver is not always the answer. Greens howver remain my bugbear . They don’t warrant a great deal of discussion. They are smallish, slow and generally spongey .An overhaul would be lovely – but unlikely for too many reasons.
That said, older impressions of Mt Martha are due for an update. Commendations to the Curator for making small but valuable redesigns to an early seventies GC.

a good course, probably described as your neutral public course. fair condition all round and quite challenging. Worth playing while on the Mornington Peninsula.

Have lived in Mount Martha for 23 years and have the pleasure of watching this course go from a dust bowl to one of the better public golf courses on the peninsula. The course has well over 40 bunkers now, fully irrigated (all year round with recycled water), Santa Ana couch fairways and some new tees as i saw last time i played. I would advise people to ignore earlier comments that were made from a few years ago as i can vouch the course has changed considerably since then. Also as far as i am aware it is the most affordable course on the peninsula!!!

Played here on 19th Jan for the first time after moving to mornington a week ago. Cracking little course. Last time I go to a driving range this is just perfect for the price 20 bucks for 18 holes. Perfect greens, even better than Southern which I played the day before.
Not long as it has been said, but you can really sharpen up your iron play.
Loved it, for a public course.

I play here a couple of times a month because its on the way home and good to hone the skills given I have been away from the game for the past 8 years or so. Its a nice little course and rarely busy. One of the few public courses you can get onto easily on a Sunday and dont have groups pushing you along all round. The course is currently in great condition.

Played this course after some years away. The improvments are fantastic. Pure couch fways, very good putting surfaces, lots of new bunkers and heaps of water keeping it green over the summer months. Do yourself a favor and book a round, you will be impressed.

Not too bad on run off after some rain but I do not mind the little course and you are right, the greens are hard to stop on and hard to read.

Whenever I'm not hitting the ball too well, I go back to Mt Martha and look good!

Not a long course. From the elevated first tee you can almost drive the green. (Look out for the strategically placed small bunkers.)

With the new irrigation, the ball doesn't run as far as it used to, but look at the topography and it will tell you what you need to do. Watch out for the 5th and 10th! If you land the ball down the slope it will keep going; but then you knew that, didn't you?

A great little course, and improving all the time.

Ridiculously sloped course. Smack the ball in the middle of the fairway and watch it roll 2 fairways away. We thought the first time was an aberration but the second time confirmed it. Gentle chips on to greens would keep running, find a slope and roll 80 metres away into tee tree etc. We were not impressed and neither was the visiting pennant team who reported them to the VGU.

Played the course on the weekend - not too busy and reasonably priced. Was able to play 18 holes in a tick under 3 1/2 hours (group of 2) on a Saturday afternoon at a public course! The front nine has the Santa Anna couch fairways which needed some care, very patchy in a couple of spots. The back nine is just getting the irrigation system installed so should be better next season. The course can be a confidence builder some, not too long and it's difficult to get into too much trouble with wayward drives. The greens were very challenging - running hard with slopes but quite slow uphill. If you're after a casual round, it's definitely worth a try.
