This course, situated near the Murrumbidgee River, with amazing vistas of the Brindabella Range, is a challenging test of length and skills. With the odd breeze not uncommon, a fantastic round of golf awaits all levels of golfers.

Large water carries, and rolling hills, make this a true test of golf on a championship layout.

Not the worst course by any stretch, but condition varies wildly.

Good and interesting layout, and would have been an enjoyable round if the greens weren’t made of marble granite!!!!!!
Don’t know bout anyone else, but I donlt get much pleasure from hitting nine iron into the green and watching bounce 8 feet in the air and over the back.
The hardness and speed of these greens was ridiculous!!!
Even worse, I arrive at the 6th hole, and the green was soaking wet!
Seriously could have been a great value and enjoyable round of golf, but the greens care appears sloppy and without care or plan

Played 3 courses in Canberra over the holidays – being from the north side of Canberra when living there, i hadn’t made the journey down to Murrumbidgee before. What a mistake that was. This is a very good course, and has been kept in very good condition despite the lack of rain/water over recent years. By far the best value golf course in Canberra too – in better condition than most, and still cheaper than most too!!

Championship layout. Almost every hole is isolated from other holes; has that out and back in feel about it.

How this course can have a rating as high as Royal Canberra is a mystery. A good course at best, although it is rarely in good condition.

Great course, although suffering a bit from drought but is wide and open with few trees tightening the fairways, suites all levels, although is very long,

18 holes at Murrumbidgee Country Club presents a golfer with many challenges, regardless of ability.

The outward nine heads down towards the Murrumbidgee river and is thus quite hilly in spots. The holes are well shaped, and fairways undulate around trees and an original landscape that has been retained as an integral part of the overall design. Quite a few outward holes can be unforgiving off the tee; and hitting an approach long and off the back of the large and generally decent greens can be a round-breaker. These greens are to be respected, with careful consideration needed for the more exposed holes. Take care on the par-3 9th; a significant water carry into a consistent breeze.

The inward nine presents much like a links, fairly flat with swales and small bumps combining with a stringy rough that can make a seemingly good drive turn bad, and in turn test your short game. Long par 5's and one particular tricky off-the-tee target make accuracy a must, although the Par-4 16th is very tempting! The round is capped off with a suitably picturesque 18th left dogleg, with water in play for the foolhardy and wayward, to a lovely green guarded by "one-shot" traps.

The views are magnificent, the staff are friendly and professional, and membership here was an easy choice for me. Having played most of the local courses I saw Murrumbidgee as the only choice to tackle all facets of my game.
