Welcome to Nambucca Heads and Australia’s most uniquely scenic 18 hole golf course. We’re located on the NSW “Holiday Coast” half way between Sydney and Brisbane.

Given our spectacular sub tropical and marine environment it’s no wonder that visiting golfers find a round or two on our course so exhilarating.

The Nambucca Heads Island Golf Club is surrounded by water on every side. Passing Dolphins, Pelicans and Cormorants are commonplace. Sea Eagles, Osprey and Brahminy Kites regularly soar overhead. Frankly, you’re bound to enjoy your round of golf no matter how you’re actually playing on the day.

A short but tight coarse with plenty of water holes to catch you out if you are wayward. Greens are sensational, best i’ve played on.
It may be short but the coarse is tight and challenging par 69, mainly due to space on the island. Lots of dog leg holes and the scenery is fantastic, if your playing poorly just look at the suroundings and you’ll feel much better.
It’s my home coarse.
Every hole can play differently each time you play depending on the wind.

was down nambucca way had to play the course as i had heard a fair bit about it, all good. , geez was i in for a tough time
water on every hole, the 1st par4, what a hole to start off on, water all down the left….greens in great nick, very tight course, would’nt want to play it if you’ve picked up a fade or slice in your game.
played in the comp, the members i played with were great, very friendly, enjoyed having a few beers with them afterwards in the club house with great views, right on the river.
must mention the pro steve barnes, was helpful in every way, very welcoming, seemed to be liked by everyone, especially the juniors which is always a good sign for a golf club and it’s longevity
nambucca caters for all golfers and was truly a great day out, will be back

Played 27/04/10.
Had heard this was a nice little course….it is! Plenty of trouble for the wayward….water everywhere. Fairways were fantastic.
Greens recovering from coring, but no doubt will be great soon.

Home course so I am probably a little biased. However this course is a favourite of mine for sure. The greens are the best of their kind in the area and the fairways are improving every year.

Relatively short yet very recovering with a water hazard somewhere on every single hole!!

PROS

  • Fun and challenging

Cons

  • Some fairways dodgy

A tasty little course which can bite you severely on the bum. With water in play on EVERY hole, you cannot afford to be inaccurate, however the shortness of the course (due to the limited size of the island) does ease the pain a little. Cold beer, great water views and good food make the end of the day as good as the start. Great for experienced and beginners.

Note: I played this course in February 2003, just as the drought was breaking. I will not refer to the condition of the course in this review.

One of the golf magazines rated this course as one of the top 100 country golf courses not long ago. They left out some better courses than this one.

It's a fairly typical country golf course, shortish, small greens for the most part, not many bunkers. However, there are lots of small and large water hazards to gobble the wayward shot, so the accurate player will go well.

On the other hand, the course really is an island in the estuary of the Nambucca River as the name suggests, so the scenery and bird life is quite spectacular.

A pretty good view out of the clubhouse windows, too.
