Reference alcohol consumption on course.

The club is required to comply with the Liquor Licence conditions as per its permit which restricts consumption of alcohol to the restaurant and patio area.

Failure to comply with the conditions of the permit can result in suspension or cancellation of the club’s licence, disqualification of the licensee from holding a licence for up to 5 years and the licensee being fined up to $10,000.

Golfers are welcome to have a beer on the patio before and after their game. However, for those who cannot manage 9 holes without a beer or two, they obviously should play somewhere else.

Smoking IS permitted on the course but not in the restaurant or pro shop surrounds. It is always a good idea to read the notice board.

I have been visiting the Noosa Valley Golf Course for over 10 years and it just keeps getting better. The wood carvings in the trees, the orchids, the azaelas and the lotus flowers in the lakes…It is simply beautiful! The course is always maintained in excellent condition and its a credit to everyone concerned.

I played here yesterday & really liked it. Beautifully kept course. Fairways & greens are in excellent condition, there’s nice gardens around the course as well, makes you feel like you’re playing in a very large backyard.
I expected it to be a short course since it’s 9 holes but there’s only 2 par 3’s on the course.
Only saw 2 other groups for the day (it was a Monday).
I’d make the trip from Bris to play here again.

Unfortunately, this review by the "Manager" shows that my review hit very close to the bone. The course review section is not the medium for berating other posters, but course reviewing. This criticism of me should have been logged in the Forums section. I will not be upset by your raving comments. I KNOW my review was accurate.

As stated in my review and forum entry(under GOLF TALK/ "what do you think?"), it is a real pity about the attitude of the Manager, BUT the course is magnificant. Play it and you will enjoy.

Anyone who has worked in the tourism industry will unfortunately experience from time to time people that are known in the trade as uglies. The review below by Kaostvdir is a classic example.

The individual claims to know the etiquette of golf but becomes abusive and foul mouthed when told his group cannot play in a 5. Likewise when told motorcarts were unavailable, the course had been closed due to heavy rain the previous day, our hero decides he knows the course conditions (his first visit) better than the Manager of 22 years. He has observed that there are cart paths along every hole. Amazing, because there are NO cart paths but why tell the truth it would spoil his spiteful, fantasy rant.

He won’t grace the course again, absolutely delighted to read that!

Not worth it , too expensive for an ordinary 9 holes. Also have to agree with Kaostvdir that the bloke in the pro shop is very rude and arrogant. Also why no smoking on the course and not allowed to take a 6 pack of light beer between 3 players, crazy.

Breath taking this course, 9 holes but there a great set of 9, glad to see some real golfers appreciating it, and not listening to the hacker at the top.

Arrived at 930 am Sept10 for a 10am round booked 6 weeks previously.
We were the only people there…1st there on a Saturday morning at 10 am..something wrong?
Manager said we were not booked in. I said I had even rang the day after the booking was made to confirm and the lady I spoke to confirmed the booking. He then said “She’s been doing it 20 years..she doesn’t make mistakes”. Funny how I emailed the booking details to my group and described the course on the 1.5 hour journey to it.
He went on..”you must have booked at Noosa Springs”. I asked if he had the phone number for Noosa Springs…Answer “No”. Ok, I found the number and they were booked out, so I was not mistaken.
After asking if we could play there he said yes, but there were 2 other groups of 4 booked on the course for the day..(alarm bells ringing..no one tee’d off before 10am). We had booked carts, but were not allowed to have them as it had rained 2 days previously…His words..”Not my fault it rained mate”. As it turned out there was a couple of small puddles on the course but there was a concrete path along every hole…couldn’t have said keep your carts on the path.Decided we would walk 9 instead of driving 18. It was not cheap..$30 to walk 9 or $50 to walk 18. Remember it is a 9 hole course.
Paid up and hired pull buggies then asked “since there was no-one on the course, could we possibly play a group of 5”?
Then he loudly and belligerently berated us, saying “don’t you know the bloody rules of golf and kept ranting about it.
I said “We just wanted a social round and if any other groups approached we would spilt into a 3 and 2.” I am a member of a Brisbane course as were 2 of the other players and understand the rules of golf, but since the course was empty, we didn’t think this would be a problem and that our courses allowed this occasionally when the course was vacant….what does it hurt?
He started yelling at us, to get down the 1st and play in a 3 and a 2.
No problems, we walked down and prepared to hit off.
He then drove down in a motorized buggy and yelled to hurry up and Fu#$in& hit off. Needless to say we were at tad miffed at his attitude.
A lady in our group asked what his problem was and he said he was going to make sure we did’nt play a group of 5 and he was going to follow us the entire round to make sure. Mind you he had locked the pro shop to do this and was the only member of staff there.
I said, we were not playing a 5, but a 3 and 2 and were going to swap the groups after 4 holes to a different 3 and 2 as to be social.
His response was that if we did that, he would have Security escort us from the course. What Security?
He then again yelled at us to Fuc%in% tee off.
I had enough of his attitude, then fired up and called him an intransient prick.
We teed off, played a 3 and 2 and had a great 9 holes.
Whilst we were on the 7th, the next group were teeing off the 1st.
The course itself is possibly the prettiest, best course I have played in 40 years, but with staff like Basil Fawlty, I can understand why they have no-one there on a Saturday.
As stated 3 of the group (over 50 year olds) are members of other courses and respect golf in all it’s forms, but surely a bit of latitude can be taken on an empty course.

Would there have been a problem playing a 5 on an empty course or would the Golf Gods have struck us down or should courses welcome visitors and appreciate the money they receive? Has anyone else struck this type of situation? Should I ring the owners? Beware Noosa Valley golf nazi.

My Wife and I played this course several times during our stay in the area. We realy enjoyed the game and the setting. Midweek there is no congestion and can recommend to all. Food was very good also.

This is not a five-star course but pleasant enough.

Played this course yet again with some New Zealand friends, who raved the whole way round. I must admit I had to agree with them.

Course was presented superbly, greens are fantastic – small, quick and true. It seems this course has coped very well with recent heavy rains or maybe it is a reflection of how course is maintained?

Not only is the course always a joy to play, but one can’t help but also marvel at the beautiful gardens around the course. Had a drink afterwards sitting outside over-looking the 18th.

Magic views. A lovely day.

"A Golfing Gem" a "simply beautiful golf course" that’s the verdict of Australian Golf Digest Magazine.

I would have to disagree with OZBUILDS comment regarding this course, l have played this course on a couple of occassions and l find it very well presented and the greens are championship quality. The surrounds of the course are a amazing view and the wildlife adds to the appeal of the whole experience. From what l have been told they are in the process of adding the back nine to the course and when completed, it will be among the best courses on the coast.

PROS

  • Well maintained greens and fairways and the holes are a challenge.

Too expensive $40 for a round of 18 on a 9 hole course. Quality of course much lower compared to other courses in the area. Easy to get tee times though. No signage on the course when played in Aug 05 and no maps showing where holes are. Very confusing. There is a map on the 5th but a bit late by then
