Played here on the Saturday. Was touch and go with all the rain but we held our nerve and glad we did. Course was a little wet in parts but greens all in good shape. A few bunkers out of play but I kind of like it when that happens. This is quite a good grade 2 suburban course. Long enough to hit driver on the par 4s and 5s with a couple of quite short par 3s to keep it interesting. Not all that much trouble here, a couple of water hazards but that is about it. My group all played pretty much to our handicaps on our first visit so would expect some low scores if you had some local knowledge.

All in all a very basic suburban course, they have squeezed 18 holes into the area available and on the bright side there is some fun to be had on their mostly short par 3s. Here the par 4s are the let down, narrow tree lined fairways, mostly just driver and wedge to 8 iron. Any course that puts a tree on a fairway is poking fun at itself in my opinion, so don’t take this course too seriously. It is a fair challenge for the beginners and quite reasonable value too for their fees.

North Ryde GC is a very decent course and is well worth a visit.
The green fees are reasonable and I’ve never had a problem getting on.
Must say I enjoy the front nine more than the back so if you’re looking for a quick nine i recommend asking for the front half.

North Ryde is very tight course thats worth a visit, but really isnt my favourite course. Its very tight, well treed with big greens, and kikiyu fairways. Its pretty short, but is so tight its best to leave the driver in the bag, a lesson i learnt the hard way. if your in the rough its hard to get a even lie, and the fairways are riddled with sand repairs. the greens are good, the bunkers ok and tees okl. Their lots of man made lakes which your forced to hit over, and every hole is pretty similar paticually the par 3’s. Still, you get some views sydney and the course is a challenge to knows who like to smack it round. at north ryde you need to think your way around. overall 5.5/10

I played here last weekend, although the weather wasnt great it was a good round of golf. The fairways and greens were in great condition. I didnt find any bad spots on the fairways. All holes had something different even though it may seem they run up and down. I must admit that the day was better with my performance on the back 9, may have been different if I finished off badly.

PROS

  • Great greens and fairways
  • Good length

Played here recently for the first time and was left a little disappointed as I had expected much more. I found the holes just went up and back , up and back then up and back again. Fairways were a little worn though the greens were in good condition. I did enjoy a few holes but overall I kept having a sense of deja vu as almost every hole reminded me of the last one I had just played.

the best course ever, greens in top condition, and fairways even better

I have played this course a few times now and really enjoy playing it. It is not a long course by any means. A couple of the par 3’s are no more than a PWedge for a long hitter. You could easily use an iron from the tee and still have a mid iron into most greens.

The course is tight and accuracy off the tee is a must to scoring well around this course. The greens and fairways are well maintained. The danger with the greens is that some of them are different speeds depending on the direction of the wind. I four putted a green in their open championships after putting off the green whilst putting down wind. It was so slick down wind and then so slow back into the wind.

Apart from this it is an excellent course with a great social side to the club. They give you $100 bar tab with your membership. It has a fantastic catering facility that is often used by the local businesses at lunch times.

I've played this course several times over the last few months as it's near work and ideal for an 0630 tee off before work to get the day started.

The course is short, too short for me in places as I find it hard to hit a good shot when it's under 95m downhill. The front 9 plays about 500m longer than the back which is considerable seeing as the whole course is under 5000m. The back 9 offers several scoring opportunities and is good fun with plenty of variation of hole layout.

At between $22 for 9h off-peak and $40 for 18h at peak times it's a good value course. Maybe it's because I mainly play this course between 0600 and 0800 but it's impressive to see how much care and attention the greenkeeping staff take. While there are quite a few bare patches on the fairway but the greens, bunkers and treelines are always in great condition.

The highlight from me on this course was getting my first ever eagle on the par 5 13th, a 30cm tap-in at that :)

One annoying factor at North Ryde is that some of the members, especially the older gentlemen, can be quite rude. A few times I've been accused of not carrying a sand bucket while it's been clipped to my bag, and once I was challenged as to whether I intended to pay for my round or not!

Booking a tee time at the weekend is usally difficult before 1400 or so but after that it's usually OK.

The clubhouse is fairly modern but the food is nothing special, pretty sloppy chinese fare. Beer is cold and available.

Happy golfing!

North Ryde Golf Club is a nice, tight course, with plenty of trees and some water. It rewards golfers who plot their way around the course, rather than people who spray it around the place.

Although relatively short, it does present a challange, with good use of bunkers and the fairways are undulating, rather than flat, so many shots are above or below the feet.

The 5 par 3's are all challanging, ranging from 95 yards to 150 yards, with 3 of them being down hill tee shots. The two par 5's are long and challanging, with both requiring accurate tee shots to open up the greens.

Speaking of which, the greens are in good condition all year around, are quite fast and with nice variations around the pin positions.

The last hole is a great birdie opportunity (par 3), typically either an 8 or 9 iron depending on position.

Staff are friendly and welcoming, and the club runs a large number of comps for members.

Would recommend to anybody who likes to think their way around the course, rather than just blast it.

I have played his course numerous times and enjoy the course. Not overly long but can test the weekend golfer. My playing partner sunk a hole in one on the par 3 the other day. Good little course and well worth the fairly cheap green fees.

Measures 5323 Par 69 from the back plates with 6 Par 3s ranging from 130-185m, 9 Par 4s ranging from 280-415m and three Par 5s ranging from 460-505m. Greens are quite good (and sizable here) mostly tiered but quick and true speed. The teebeds were nice and falt, with good grass cover and were the fairways, but some were thinly covered in places.

The course has change immensely from what I remember, and for the better. It feels like a miniature golf club, with some holes needing a wedge to get there. Like on most good courses the par 4s tell a lot about the course character. Here the par 4s were fairly easy, with some barely 250m, but has more emphasis on the club selection. The par 3s are very simple, with many bailout options off the tee. The par 5s are short, but have strategically placed trees in some areas to make you hit a target on the fairway, instead of just the boring tee to green play.

The course is short, but challenging. Water hazards are on 3 holes, with 2 in regulation play. The best holes are the 370m Par 4 4th with a water hazard 220m from the tee to a double-tiered and heavily bunkered green. The 415m Par 4 7th has Lane Cove Road on the left and water hazard 75m from the green. The 460m Par 5 13th has many bends in the fairway, and is the best challenge on the back nine.

Played here on 7/7/06 with visitor green fees $32, which is not too bad for value, but for challenge, you can do better. Can be busy 7 days a week, as it is popular for all golfers.

Played here once and it was all good. Fairways are very tight, you can use your driver if you are 80-100% sure that it will drop on the fairway.

Course lenght is fair. Greens is very very fast. Bunkers are well taken care of.

Weekend play cost you $37 for 18 holes which is not bad.

Will play again here for sure.

North Ryde isn't a long course but with it's tight fairways and undulating greens it is a demanding course. The fairways are immaculate all year round and the greens are magnificent. It would be one of the best public courses in the North.A must to play.

This is by no means a very long course but most holes have tight fairways and slight doglegs, so you really have to be accurate. Excellent course that is a decent challenge for the average golfer. 7th hole long par 4 accross the dam is the standout.

This would have to be one of the best courses in north/western Sydney. It is always well maintained and offers a good variety of, mainly, challenging golf holes.

The pro shop and clubhouse staff are friendly and obliging, and the bistro is excellent.

Certainly worth a visit.

With a well undulated and well maintained setting the course is a solid 18 holer. There are a lot of different tricks and turns that can catch your experience, the course is not exactly suited for a beginner. With a good pro shop and respectable clubhouse, the course is one I will play again.

North Ryde is a pretty course that is well maintained. The coure is of a average length. It is heavily covered in treeline fairways thay will cause a problem. Some of the par 4s a on the short side but on the back 9 there is some long holes to compete with.

The greenfeas were $40 for a sunday afternoon. A bit much I thought as you coud pay less for better courses.

The fairways are kept in very good condtions throughout the year. The greens tended to be on the slow side.

North Ryde is a nice layout that was a plesure playing.

Not the most spectacular course you will ever play but very enjoyable and the trees make it quite a challenge.

Fairways are narrow so you need a straight drive off the tee box. Not a lot of water to worry about.

The par 3's are a bit on the short side however, you do not want to over pitch them as you will find yourself in all sorts of trouble with a couple of them.

The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpfull. Still one of my favourite courses.

A pleasant, kykuyu based golf course, that is tight off the tee. The land has a valley running through the middle of the course & most of the hole hit from an elevated tee, down into the valley, then up to the green on the other side. This tends to make the course a little boring.

The 11th, 12th & 15th are short par 4's that are best played with an iron off the tee. The toughest hole is the 7th playing as a 416m par 4 with a very tight fairway.
