This is a review of the main Par 72 South Course.
Unfortunately the day we played the greens had been cored and sanded, which did not make for a fantastic putting experience. Im sure on a normal day the greens would have been better than average.
Plenty of bunkers, nice fairways and the odd water hazard. The course was fairly understanding towards the social golfer.
A relaxed golf club, fairly easy to fit in a quick game.

This is a review of the Executive 60 (North Course) only.
The par for the course is 60, showing that the course is dominated by Par 3’s with a few par 4’s thrown in, most of which are quite short and reachable anyway. I have always found the course to be in good condition, and while not quite as good as the South course, certainly good enough. It is essentially a test of one’s short game, but with the bonus of no (or not many) really short par 3’s, and a chance to use the driver if you wish.
The first hole seems simple enough being one of those short par 4’s, however the creek running down the right hand side of the hole is ready to catch any balls headed in that direction. This is the theme for the course, with many of the short par 4’s, and some of the par 3’s for that matter, having a nasty hazard of some form.
This is an excellent chance to improve your short and mid iron game, on a course that is generally in great condition and doesn’t see the traffic of some other metro courses.

Playing the South Course now for about 2 years is very challenging. This course located near Adeliade Airport ,Glenelg and Westbeach Caravan Park offers a great location to access one of Adelaides Public courses which is not overly busy during the week.
On the weekends, public and school holidays I would recommed booking as it can become quite busy.
The fairways are fairly good ,some have gur and areas bare of grass but overall pretty good.
The green keepers are always out here looking after the course which is great compaired to some of the other public courses I have played at.
The greens get cored regularly and are usually fast and testing.
Bunkers are raked and sandy ,they will invite your ball in .
The astmosphere is friendly and the barman is always availble for a chat, food at the cafe is tasty and the proshop staff are helpful with a fairly good range of items for sale The club is a social place with a good atmosphere .
Joining fees are very reasonable and major renovations are on the horizon offering this club to be one of Adeliades most sort after courses.Forget paying rediculous membership fees at other clubs and come down and see the facilities on offer.
You can even drop off the kids at Glenelg and come for a game then pick them up after.
Buggies are availble for hire but you really wont need one.
Some of the holes are par 5 which will try you out and the par 3s are testing too.
The course is monitored by the proshop for slow players which is a great idea for those who are in a hurry.
Watch out for the water hazards aroundthe place.

Learing to play golf I practicesd weekly on the North course (Executive par 60) .This course is in really good condition with the greens in immaculate condition.
The greens are not as large as the par 72 South course located adjacent.
The south course is tight and fairly tricky but a graet course to learn on or have a quick round with some friends.
The attitude around the club and the course is friendly with a good bar, cafe and pro shop all are easily accesible.
The cost of a round is quite reasonable and would I recommend this club to anyone intereseted in joining.
The membership is on the rise and at more than reasonable prices.

The Adelaide Shores Patawalonga course at the Westward Ho Golf Club measures 5924m Par 72 with four par 3s ranging from 124-167m, ten par 4s ranging from 294-406m and four par 5s ranging from 471-485m.
Course has wide kikuyu fairways with patches of couch with even some rye grass/kikuyu in the rough. The 13th hole along the public driving range has a fully couch grass fairway. The medium sized bent grass greens are smooth with good speed. The teebeds are couch with the 16th having kikuyu grass. There are 42 bunkers on the course with every hole bunkered.
Highlights include: the 401m Par 4 straight 8th (index 2) with a bunker middle splitting the fairway about 100m out from the 30m long front-sloping green with bunker short right; the 361m slight bend right 11th (index 3) with 2 fairway bunkers left off the tee to a green with 2 shortside bunkers; the 167m 12th (index 9) has a huge green with 2 rightside bunkers; the 475m slight dogleg right 13th (index 11) with fairway bunker left off the tee and another bunker 100m short of the green on the right at the dogleg corner to a green with 2 bunkers; and the 406m slight dogleg left 14th (index 1) with 2 fairway bunkers along the leftside to a green with a bunker short left.
Shame holes 14 & 15 are affected by Tapleys Hills Road traffic noise as they are quite good holes. The 9th and 18th are short weak par 4 finishing holes and the par 5s are a reasonable length but not varied enough.
Played here 26/09/2011 with $24.50 green fees or $18 twilight after 3pm. Course access is from Military Road in the beachside suburb of West Beach.
