Penguin Golf Club,
Played at Penguin while on a recent visit to Tasmania.
This course is an absolute credit to a band of veteran golfers who maintain the course (there is no full time greenkeeper)The members were also amongst the friendliest I have come accross in my travels.
Any one who gets a chace to play there will have an enjoyable round .
I certainly did.

this is an excellent course to play all year round. A short nine hole course which is excellent value for money. The course is maintained to a high standard all year around except it can get a bit wet in the winter time and also can dry out a little towards the end of summer as the water source starts run low as the only water supply is the dam located in the centre of the course. Also does not have any bunkers for the wayward hitters.

Measures 2842m Par 36 with 5 Par 4s ranging from 320-385m, 2 Par 3s ranging from 125-140m and two (weakish) Par 5s ranging from 400-435m. Once again there are 18 tees and 9 greens. Quite a surprise to find a challenging 9-holer in good condition in the NW Tas, but do yourself a favour and have a hit here.

There is a little of everything here, doglegs, bunkers, water hazards, elevated tees, elevated greens, OOB and sloping fairways. Best hole is probably the 125m 7th with an island green surrounded by water. I quite liked it, as it broke up the boredom of hitting tee to green with no real thought needed.

Played here 21/7/06 and paid $10 green fees in the honesty box and had a carefree round with no-one else on the course at the time. A little strange for the first-timer as after hugely swinging dogleg right 1st hole you have to pass homes and cross a road (about a 200m walk) to get to the other 7 holes of the course. One of the better 9-holers in NW TAS.
