Eastern is a great test of your short game. Overall a beautiful course – one of the hilliest in Victoria but an abundance of native birdlife in the middle of the suburbs. Fairways are fair, but lots of trees punish errant drives. Fast and sloping greens mean three putts are a real risk – the locals always aim to hit below the pin. Guests are welcome most days for reasonable green fees.. overall a real pleasure to play and a challenge to all but the straighest hitter – make par here and you can kill most other courses.

If you want a real challenge, play Eastern Golf Club in Doncaster Rd, Doncaster. This is one course where local knowledge counts. The fairway width is realistic, bunkering fair but the greens will test you. The speed and break on these greens make this course extremelly difficult for scoring. The course is always in fantastic condition, with an abundance of water available. Not overly long by todays standards with a good mix of testing par 4's to easier par 4's reachable for most. The course is quite hilly where the only flat lie available is on the tee. Many qualifying events palyed here with not many tearing it apart despite it's lack of length.
Overall a great test of golf, bring your short game with you.

The major disaster! If you want a challenging game of golf come to the eastern golf club. The only problem is the fairways and the lies in which you get anywhere on the course. It is really struggling with the drought and if you come to have a game here you will know what i am talking about. You never get a good lie when you are the fairways, that’s if you stay on the fairways because when you hit a drive the ball just keeps on rolling into the rough and on some holes in the trees. An example would be the 18th. What a disaster eastern is in
