Since the partial upgrade to this course, there have been many changes and improvements, and I’m pretty impressed with the result.

The quality of the greens have quite definitely improved on most holes (the green on 1st is incredibly soft, with a really muddy GUR area right in front of it), with the 6th/15th and the 8th/17th seeing huge improvements.

Difficulty level has increased slightly (I think) with the upgraded greens and added bunkers, and has made playing a round at Regency all the more enjoyable. It’s currently at 68 ACR, so advanced players will find this place a toddle.

Standing on the 6th/15th green, you also get a pretty impressive view of the Superway that is under construction not 100m away. To protect passing traffic from the course, the fence has also been upgraded to a massive black net that is about 7 or 8 metres high, and stretches the length of one whole side of the course. It’s a huge improvement over the last fenceline, which was tired and shoddy.

The staff at the course are great, and the prices are very reasonable. To pay $10 in the afternoon (after 3pm I think) for 9 holes is a bargain. The atmosphere is always convivial, and except for one incident where some random local bastard took a crap in the 8th hole, there aren’t too many twats.

If you haven’t checked out this course since the upgrade, I strongly recommend you book in a round before the Superway is completed. I suspect it will be pretty noisy after that (Dec 2013).

PROS

  • Friendly staff
  • Bargain
  • Recent Upgrades
  • Regency Tavern located immediately behind pro shop, has bottle shop, bar etc
  • Metro location

Cons

  • Local feral humans occasionally defecate in the 8th hole.

A well established golf course and soon to be even better with a few holes revamped thanks to the south rd upgrade. Will still be par 35 for 9 holes but the new holes consisting of a new par 5, par 4 and par 3 will be quite challenging. I expect that when the course re-opens for all holes in approx early oct 2011, many will be inclined to check it out. From what I have seen I don’t think that anyone will be dissapointed in the re-design with stratigically placed fairway bunkers and greenside bunkers to mezmirising greens. A credit to all involved.

Fun easy course with wide open fairways, large greens and overall very well maintained.

$12 a round is great and the friendly staff and easy going golfers make an enjoyable round of golf.

Previous reviewers are pretty spot on regarding this course. An enjoyable, well maintained 9 hole design. Compared to a track like Marion GC this place is GREAT. Cost is about $12,greens and fwy’s in good condition.

I agree with the previous review, it’s a very simple course, and nothing to be blown away by, but it is fun, simple, and harder to lose balls on than a lot of Adelaide courses. The quality of the fairways and greens is acceptable, and certainly better than the two Adelaide Council courses. The other big plus for beginners and those practising a lot is that it offers $50/month memberships that allow you to play as much as you want. It’s a fantastic deal.

PROS

  • Neat greens and fairways, nothing very difficult at all.
  • Hard to lose golf balls.
  • Cheap
  • Monthly Membership

Cons

  • Only 9 greens, with 18 tees.

A golf course in the middle of an industrial estate? I though it would suck, but I was surprised to find that it’s quite nice. There isn’t any mind blowingly great holes or views, hell even the greans arn’t brilliant, but it is a full size nine hole, with seperate tees for the front and back nine. Kept pretty green all year round and relatively cheap too. Good golf players won’t find much challenge here, but most players,(myself included,) will still enjoy the course as it is quite accessable for us lesser like to make some birdies too.
