Measures 6120m Par 72 with four par 3s ranging from 131-193m, ten par 4s ranging from 322-404m and four par 5s ranging from 473-512m.

Course has winter rye grass fairways with patches of couch/kikuyu grass. The medium-sized bent grass greens are still slow and tree-lined layout has kikuyu grass in the rough under the tree-line. With a total of 48 bunkers on the course there are only 2 unbunkered holes on the course (8th and 17th). There are no water hazards but holes 13-18 are a delight.

Highlights include: the 389m slight dogleg left 8th (index 2) with saltbush rough far right to a 20m long bunkerless green; the 193m slightly downhill 11th (index 6) with 1 bunker leftside guarding the small green; the short-but-most-bunkered-hole-on-the-course 322m 13th (index 15) which doglegs 45 degrees left from 150m off the tee with saltbush rough straight through the dogleg with 3 fairways bunkers middle and right edge off the tee to a green with 3 bunkers; the 155m 15th (index 11) with 2 greenside bunkers and another bunker 40m short left; the 349m slight dogleg right 16th (index 9) with thick saltbush and trees on the left to a green guarded by 3 bunkers; the 404m Par 4 17th (index 1) which doglegs 45 degrees left from 240m off the tee to a bunkerless green; and the 492m slight dogleg right 18th (index 14) with 2 fairway bunkers 50m short left and 80m short right of the green which is guarded by another 3 bunkers.

The front nine is quite uninspiring, flat with a boring up-and-back layout. Despite this, I strongly advise to keep playing on as the back nine is much more challenging with more bunkering, saltbush and trees, doglegs and options off the tee. Apart from the front nine, this layout is probably the most challenging, and, by far the most bunkered in the Riverland.

Played here 1st October 2011 with $30 green fees. Course access is 7km west of the town centre near the airport on the way to Berri.

Renmark is the largest town in the Riverland with 10000 people. Like Berri there is a proshop here at Renmark which can be reached on (08) 8595 1514

This is a difficult course to rate as it is quite a nice layout, with lots of interesting holes, but the condition of the course left a lot to be desired. The fairways had plenty of grass, but appeared to have not been cut for a while, so were thick and very uneven in coverage and there was very little run. The greens were very patchy, bumpy and slow. We played on a Sunday morning at 9am and for the front nine the greens were still quite damp as well as long, this made them even slower. We had the course top ourselves, so it is easy to get on most days. The bunkers were in good condition and the bunker placement was good for the design. All bunkers have a solid face and flat, sandy bottom, so your ball will roll into the sand for a decent lie. Green fees of $30 are a bit steep for the course in its current state. It would be nice to play it when it was in good condition to see if it would rate higher. It is an easy course to walk, with no hills and only a few slight rises.

I’m told that at the moment Renmark is playing in as good condition as any of the Riverland courses. The fairways are said to be lush and healthy, and the greens in as good a nick as always.
The course is quite simple in terms of design with the holes being generally quite straight, but the fairways quite narrow. Unlike some of the other courses in the region, the penalty for missing the fairway can be more lenient.
Holes of note include the Par 3 11th which is a long, and sometimes tricky par 3. The 13th, from the other side of the resort, is a nice driving hole which will test those who naturally fade or slice the ball.
Credit goes to one of us at Renmark, for being the only place where I’ve seen a kangaroo be hit with a golf ball. There certainly is a bit of pressure on you when you need to hit the ball cleanly to lift it over the native animals positioned between you and the green, and if you happen to blade your shot a bit…
