No I didn’t injoy playing at riverlakes not only was the course too over booked but because I booked with iseek we had to wait for buggies. Not happy at all. Shaun..

Course was in decent condition, pro shop was alright and their carts were very good.

There are some challenging holes on this course, Speed of play was average, we were stuck behind a few groups and finished in 4 hours. Was very surprised to see a group of 6 playing one hole as well. Some good par 3s and par 4s.

Course needs a little more work, signs would assist with direction from hole to hole and some better cart roads will be easier instead of needing a 4 wheel drive in some areas.

Was told to drive further away from the greens by an assumed marshall who opened his trap as he was driving away.

Overall, If the pricing was that good including carts, I’d go down there every week.

This is second time for me and my sons . We thought that the course was much improved from our first visit. The experience was spoilt a little by the behavior of a couple of groups, one hitting up on us on two occassions before we cleared a Par 3. another just disrespectful of course etiqite. The use of a Course Marshall wouldnt go astray.

Played Riverlake today. Shot 100. Course was in great condition. Fairways and greens perfectly manicure. Played off the blue markers – made it a lot more challenging. Definitely going back to conquer the 10th hole. The water/ lake is very intimidating on this hole.

Fantastic value for money. Staff in shop were friendly.

The course is just over priced. It should be less than 20 considering its quality and very poor condition. Not worth your money.
The worst proshop in Aus. We had very bad experience. they can’t see things practically logically in adults way but they just get emotional and insult customers. The written apology from them made us give up but we were about to file a suit to a court for what they did to us.

This course is in top condition at the moment, fairways are good and the greens are quick. it was good to play a short/med couse and i did not have to knock the skin off the ball for my 1st and second strokes.
our group had a really enjoyable day.

Enjoyed the course—interesting layout. Greens were very good but more signage is needed from green to the next tee. Pro-shop staff need a bit of PR training and need to sort out the hassle of players starting on #10 and cutting in front of those coming off #9. Your signage states each player must have a set of clubs—you need to enforce it as one set between two beginners really slows down the round.

Still one of my favourite public courses to play. Pretty challenging expecially with the setup of some of the greens, plenty of water to hit into also! Thoroughly enjoyed my game as usual and for $12 on mondays thank you very much!

Very nice and challenging course. Both greens and fairways were in very good condition. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only down side was the direction signs that needs improvment especially for holes No. 6 and No.9, almost went down the wrong fairway. Will be back again…

The course is in good shape, the greens are quite slow. We started at 9:45 andIt was pretty slow play in the front nine. It opened up in the back. We played the front in 2:45 and the back in 1:40.
The carpet in front of the main entrance to the club house is a disgrace.

Greens where ok , I could tell they had just been sanded not long ago, over all I enjoyed it ,and it was a really good price on iseek , I will be back

Good lay out. Water adds a great challenge. The greens were good and sure. I found most of the holes well set out and needed some thought, rather than just blindly grabbing the driver and let her rip. The bunkers were not good, advice, just stay out if them.

For $12.00 it’s a bargain for an early morning round on a Monday. Course was in pretty good condition, most fairways are very good. The greens are ok, but not as good as Carbrook down the road. All in all a good walk ruined by some bad golf, but at this price I will be back again.

We have played there now twice in the last 3 weeks & have enjoyed it on each occasion although on the last visit it was a bit sloppy due to recent rain.I’ts a little course that suits our style of play, not very glamorous but very affordable so what more could you expect. We certainly hope to return on a regular basis.

Played yesterday for the first time. Very pleasant round. Course in good condition ans good lay out. Don’t get to play as often as I like but handled this course well. Very friendly staff and Chris the Pro seems would be a good coach. I will return and have lessons.

PROS

  • Good layout and requires thought to shoot good score

Cons

  • Very slow on Friday. Some slow groups refuse to let you hit through.

Very good value course at $25 with cart. Generally very good condition although it is starting to notice the lack of rain and is getting very dry on the fairways.
Play suffered by not having a course marshall or even being organised at the tee off. Got caught behind a very slow group resulting in a 4 and three quarter hour round despite everyone using carts.

My first time at Riverlakes, great little course with many challenging holes surrounded by water. Several holes tempt the players to take a risk for big rewards.Course is well looked after and price with a cart for at $25 each is well worth it. The greens were in great condition it evident they have be working hard over the last couple of years to get it back up to scratch given the comments of previous years.

Yes, I enjoyed the golf at Riverlakes yesterday. The layout is good with many places for trouble shots- so you need to play and place your shots sensibly. I played well to my handicap of 17. The condition of the course was reasonable and at this time Brisbane and SE needs some rain.
The greens can be fast downhill, but try and place shots for uphill putts.
The two par 5’s- each 535m are long and can be challenging.
Like to come again sometime.

Riverlakes can potentialy be a great course BUT.. after taking almost 41/2 hours to complete due to very slow play and no course marshall. The course is very tired and the lack of maintenance upkeep lets it down. Okay socially for $25 dollars but will not be rushing back…

Cons

  • Marked distances are incorect

Booked to play there on labor day (02/05/11) through iseekgolf. Was a great deal $25 per person with cart. Got there that morning and was told that no carts were allowed on the course as it was too wet. Couldn’t even hire any pull buggey, the best they could offer us was to buy a new pull buggey from them!! Very disappointing!!! Staff weren’t very helpul at all.

Very enjoyable course layout with plenty of water to negotiate. The course is attractive and intereting to play. Fairways and greens are in very good condition. Currently it is quite wet underfoot in many places due to continued wet weather. The bunkers were also very wet and need some more sand. Great value and I’ll be back for more.

Fantastic for the price! ($25 with a cart) Not exceptionally long, but tight fairways and loads of water make for tricky tee shots. Water carries to several greens are very impressive. Overall a great course.

Enjoyed the course as per usual apart from the greens this time. They had been lightly sanded and were as long as any green i can ever remember playing on in my life. When the greens are that condition you should be getting an even bigger discount than $32 with a cart. But i will be back when i know the greens are back to their best.

Things didn’t get off to a good start with some confusion over the payment of carts on the day, the course was wanting to charge us $10 more than what was indicated on the iseek booking. However they finally relented and told us that they’d give us a discount as the greens from 1-9 were being sanded. The course was in remarkably good condition given the amount of rain that was around. As always a challenging course, made even more so by the sporadic heavy showers that we had to contend with.

At $25 each including cart, it was good value. Staff were friendly, which was a change from what it was the last time I was here. course was in good condition considering the recent flooding and rains around the area. bunkers were out of play but so is every course at present around brisbane. some tight fairways and deceptive uphill, downhill shots make for some thought before blasting down the fairway..
excellent value.

only downside was staff in the pro shop were very clueless, perhaps very new or filling in for the boss is all i can think of!

Dissatisfied with staff – it was heavy rain, impossible to play golf in this weather. The one of staff said "we can not give arrenge other date to play because of owner won’t give us permission to close the course" "you are also booking therw a very cheap deal from iseek.com, we only get 10 dollors for this booking, not much profit we made so can’t do much about to help you" I will not recommend anyone to play this course. I don’t know about course conditions Maybe a nice, but unhelpful staff. Wasting money and time.

55. tatsuro | Rated | 22 Dec 2010 | Add A Review

They do not close the course even if the fairway becomes like river, bunkers like pond, greens impossible to roll your ball. Just because they do not want to refund. The course is ok but I am not at all happy with their principle towards money. Not flexible either.

Course is in good condition now, grass on the fairways is as good as a resort course and most greens are in great shape. It’s a very challenging with alot of water. Course is suitable for learners as it’s not too long, but they need to be able to hit over water off the tee.

Accuracy is the key to this 18 hole challenge! Plenty of H2O with narrow fairways. The 1st and 10th are mostly water so don’t get too ambtious cause it will hurt the score card. At the 15th put the driver away due to tightness of the course around the houses or you will be having morning tea with a few of the locals, who may not be all that understanding of your hook as your playing partner is. Enjoyed so worth giving it a go too.

Very affordable course. Green in great condition and plenty of water to make for a very challenging round. Play from the back markers if you can, otherwise it’s too short.

Big tip: study the course map on the back of the scorecard – there’s many hidden lakes and rivers behind rises and undulations!

PROS

  • Challenging
  • cost

Cons

  • Out of bounds markers near houses
78. gar64132 | Rated | 02 Jul 2010 | Add A Review

Riverlakes is a very interesting course with a good variety of challenging holes. The fairways are quite wide, and as a result the abundance of water should not cause too many problems. However, the water is there on almost every hole and that can definitely intimidate the first-time visitor – me, for example. The pro-shop staff are friendly and well-organised and the on-site tavern is great for refreshments after the game. Thanks for the super deal – I’ll definitely play Riverlakes again.

PROS

  • The fairways, greens and bunkers are in excellent condition and they will usually reward good golf.

Cons

  • It is difficult to fault this course, particularly at the Wednesday rate of $20 for 18 holes with cart included.

I have played their three times now and have decided it is my favourite course. Tonnes of water, bunkers, greenside bumps, and challenges. There are some decent lengthed holes that require mid to long irons in and the greens are soft enough to stop the ball within a couple of meters, and you have to land the greens because you won’t roll on [unless you have a low draw] The greens are rediculously true, it is the centre of the hole or nothing.
This course has everything.
I’m playing their again this weekend, can’t wait.

I havn’t played Riverlakes for over 3 years and was plesantly suprised, a little damp under foot in places but no boggs which was good. Didn’t have time for 18 so thought i would take my time and play 9. After hitting a small bucket into the dam i was -1 going to the 2nd tee, being +1 after 6 having missed chances i was stoked, especially not having a handy cap and being an average golfer. But then my average game came out and i finishing with a single, tripple and double bogey. Gutting, but a great afternoon and a nice quiet course for a mid week game.

What got me the most was the ridiculous crowd! Waiting for 15 minutes on every tee is not my idea of fun. Ended up a 5.5 hour round. There seemed to be no one coordinating the tee off. Just groups straight after one another.

Unfortunately I don’t think I’d bother to play here again – glad to be a member at RBGC.

Course is in good condition but playing behind a group of 5 caused us to skip 4 holes. Lucky we did because by the time we finished hole 18 this group was teeing off on the 10th. 3.5 hours for 9 holes. We then went back and completed the four holes we missed.

Played 9 holes here yesterday arvo 6.04.2010 with 3 mates. This is a nice little course. However I thought the layout was a little confusing, had to drive in front of tee boxes to get to the next hole etc. But other than that the course is well maintained and provided a few challenges. We will play 18 next time !

Been a member at riverlakes for about 10 months so far. This course is nice, not amazing, but its a course where you could play there every week like I do and not start to hate it.

Fairways are tight with not alot of rough – but alot of water. If you can, hitting alot of irons off the tees will save you lots of balls. Greens are generally very good and improving all the time.

Bunkers are quite poor and there arent many of them with is a bit dissapointing.

PROS

  • Well maintained generally
  • Challenging
  • Risk-Reward

Cons

  • Bunkers
  • Set up too easily during the week - a completely different course from the blues

Overall a good course. I think they haven’t cut the greens for awhile very long. The holes on the greens a few of them could be cut better some of them looked like a kid did it. So with a few maintenance things it will be a great course.

Managed to play 18 holes in 2.5hours – was impressed with the time saved. Course is in good condition (on the fairways/greens), however if you hit into the rough, it’s likely your ball will get plugged in the mud. Rampant slicers will lose many balls.

Played today. $15 bucks walking on a Sunday is always good value. Have played there a few times now and enjoy it every time. It’ll bit you if you don’t hit them straight….

Its always quiet there in the late arvo which is great!

One downer is the shared greens on a number of holes- would have been easy to split the green and plant some trees to segregate them but oh well…

I’ll be back!

Played yesterday for the 8th time and have not had a bad day out, picked up one of the $20 mid week specials which is phenomenal value for $$
Course was in pretty good nick considering the rain we’ve had.
I always enjoy this course as you don’t need to be a big hitter and you are rewarded for straight play – I probably only pull the driver out on 4-5 holes, if you hit left and right you will find water, greens are in really good condition but usually well guarded, only criticism is that the bunkers are a little inconsistent and the green on the green on the 11th needs to be moved/upgraded.

I would go back every week if I could find the time

Arrived to a packed car park and thought oh oh. Went into pro shop where the staff though under the pump were curtious friendly and very helpful. The course was in beutiful nick, although the rain that was around made it a little less pleasant. Will definatly be back hopefully in some sunshine.

Interesting Course. Well kept greens and fairway. Some of the holes are too short. Lost heaps of balls due to all the water.

Played last week, good course with very good greens. It is relatively short in length, there is plenty of water and trouble around the greens. The fairways are in reasonable shape given the rain over the last month and the staff are friendly. Thepace of play was reasonably slow, but not bad given some of the other courses I have played.

This course is well worth a game and is fantastic value for money. I have played quite a few courses and if you are looking for an interesting layout with a bit of a challenge at the same time, you cannot go past Riverlakes. It’s only problem is it does get very boggy after rain and would suggest playing when it hasn’t rained for a while.

Payed on Friday afternoon at an unbelievable price of 20 bucks with a cart thru i seek. Usually can’t get the cart for that. The course is in very good nick at the moment due to recent rain and I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

PROS

Love the course a very hard one at that, you do really need to know when to hold back at times.
Lots of water to contend with but that’s what makes this course so good, i am a novice player but shot selection is so important here. Using irons of the Tee for most of the holes, helped keep my card down.
But there are good opportinities to use the big stuff as well.
All in all i would gladly go back and play again!

Real challenge, especially after all the rain that claimed a portion of the fairway on most holes – Very affordable green fee’s …. maybe to offset the cost of lost balls. Great fun overall

Played here 22/01/2010 and found it quite challenging on some holes and easy on some others but all round a good test. Got through a slow group on the 2nd or 3rd hole and got around in about 3half hours in a cart which was good as it was a very warm morning. All in all a good Qld course for a reasonable price.

Played this course for the first time today and for $34 with a cart, can’t go wrong.

Good mix of holes, some really challenging tee shots, kept me thinking all day.

Only used driver for seven or eight holes, the others had me taking three or four iron due to the danger on both sides of the fairway, but still allowed for short irons into the green.
Greens were awesome better than most ive played lately.they were very quick (the way the should be)

Not a very long course, maybe next game will be able to attack a bit more with the driver and have some fun.

PROS

  • challenging
  • decent price
  • slick greens
  • won a carton off my mate

Cons

  • tad dry

A Very good course at a very good price.

Not overly long but a good challenge for a beginner like myself, I especially enjoyed some of the shorter par 4’s where placement was paramount. A good mix of holes to take both irons off the tee and open the shoulders with a driver.

The fairways were in great condition overall and the greens also very good. One or two bunkers were a bit firm, but still playable.

The only annoyance was having to rush through the round due to the Cart required to be back at 5.30pm, I had a 3pm tee time and if I was not playing by myself I wouldn’t have gotten 18 holes in.

Really pleasant course. Greens are quite large in size and run well. There are some quite tricky approach drives required to maintain a decent score. The staff were very friendly and the course was in very good condition. The water plays a feature in a majority of the holes, but smart play will keep you clear. The cart tracks are a little uneven, however the buggy handled it well. I only lost my bag of the back twice!!!

Played there Dec 27 after a whole lot of rain. Only the front 9 holes were open and even then still drove cart through bout a foot of running water at times which was fun. There was water in bunkers and on some fairways but was playable. We were stoked to get a game in as we were very stir crazy after a few days of rain…

Second time I’ve played there. This time it cost $25 each including cart which is a bargain! Not the best course round but worth the price! Hole 4 is the signature hole.

Take plenty of balls…

Played Riverlakes in the rain on 28 Dec 09. The course was in great condition – the fairways were lush and the greens well grassed and ran true all day.

My playing partner and I really enjoyed the course. It is not long but has lots of water in play (not a surprise for a course called Riverlakes) and does make you think. The greens have enough variety to be interesting.

And the ISG deals including carts are very good.

PROS

  • Course was in very good condition - although a bit water logged after a weeks non stop rain. Water ensures you have to concentrate and make good choices.

Cons

  • Cart paths are very potholed. I'm not a fan of the 135m marker - prefer a 100m marker, but most of the sprinkler heads have a distance on them so that is great.

Fareways & greens were overall very nice. The paths are very rough with a cart and look very run down, full of pot holes. Our cart battery died on the 13th so we had to race back to swap. The cart itself had seen better days too.
We got lost on a few holes, with no maps, and the 9th actually had a sign saying 6th!
Course was nice & quiet & for $25 can’t go wrong. No-one rushing us.
A few nice challenging holes with a fair amount of tricky water obstacles.

Very enjoyabe and challanging course. I have to agree that there should be a map of the coarse on the score card or something to indicate the water on the hole better as I lost about 4 balls on shots that I thought were good until you get over a hill or around a corner and see that it is in water.

Course was in good condition. No hold ups playing early. Easy course to walk and will be playing there a lot more, especially for the price.

Found that the value from here made it great. $39 including cart, who could go wrong, As we got there we were very lucky to get in front of a social group and behind a pair that were walking. That did not phase us at all as we got to take our time which was good. Nice little course i must say and challanging. Though only thing that was a bummer about it was course maps and not even on the score card. As being the first time on there, found it confusing. Also no drinking fountains. Could atleast been a couple of them. Was not a fan of the one green with 2 holes on them but each to there own i guess. Over all, enjoyed the game and course, as for coming back, It may be on the cards, but keen to experience other courses.

Played on the 26th Nov and not one of the greens (none) were affected by duck droppings as reported by others – in fact the greens had recently been worked on and are now on a par with other courses in the local area.
Pleasent idillic course to walk with each hole offering a different challenge from the very first hole to the last. Had no problems finding
my ball on the fringes of the fairways so dont quite know how far into the scrub others are losing their balls.
All in all our whole group (members at Pacific, Windaroo) found our day on the course enjoyable and would definitely play here again if course kept to the standard as at the 26 Nov.
Only negetive as mentioned by others was the lack of water/detergent in the golf ball cleaners but was not needed on the day by our group

Played Riverlakes for the first time on Sunday. Booked a tee time for around 1pm and was a little confused when we got there and found about 20 or more ladies heading towards the first tee. Little did i know the practice ground is beside the first hole and they were doing a clinic.
Pro shop staff were friendly before and after our round which was done just on 4 hours.

As expected, there was loads of water which isn’t just there for looks. Water on almost every hole which comes into play off the tee, around the green or both. Managed to avoid the wet stuff purely by hitting irons off majority of the tees. There are some holes where a driver is needed but accuracy is key over length around Riverlakes.

Fairways were firm and tee boxes flat. I was a little disappointed in the greens as most reviews have looked favourably on the putting surface. We may have just played at a bad time, but the greens were a bit patchy (11th in particular) and quite bumpy.

The course really needs some maps, or hole layouts as first time players can find it hard to know where to hit.

Enjoyed the round, will be back for sure

Third time I have played on Friday and the back nine was so slow we walked off course after thirteen holes waiting for twenty minutes on each tee is tedious

148. ueswafrid | Rated | 20 Oct 2009 | Add A Review

My 1st visit here and not too impressed. The rounds were overbooked and incredibly slow with a constant wait every hole. The fairways are hard and dry and the greens have been sanded and are in attrocious condition with more bumps than my lawn and very slow.

The layout is quite good but with plenty of water expect to lose a lot of balls.

Course maintenance doesn’t seem to high on the list as every ball washer was dry and unusable, and the cart paths are like goat tracks, full of pot holes that shake you and you clubs to bits.

I won’t be back unless the greens improve. They ruin an otherwise decent game of golf.

Was a great little course, interesting holes, customer service left so much to be desired that we will not be playing here again. Pro was un-necessarily rude to one of our players for not meeting dress standards (no collared shirt). Even though we had prepaid our tickets and he had no intention of not allowing us to play as a result, he made no bones about if we hadn’t prepaid he would be refusing entry to the course. He could have offered for us to purchase a shirt from his pro shop which we would have been happy to do, but based on his service, we weren’t really interested in proving any more custom to the facility. Layout of the course is confusing at times, has poor signage and no maps on score cards.

Other than that, the course is aesthetically pleasing, pretty well kept and challenging. What made it more challenging was the fact that the greens had tractors driving all over them the day we played. Obviously each course must maintain their greens, but some notification of this process occurring on their web-site or during booking would have been nice.

Worst round of golf I have ever played as a result of the above experiences. Will never return.

What we found was a course with only 2 playable greens. For the money we paid we couldn’t complain, but when we picked up the cart keys someone should have told us that we weren’t going to have a real game of golf.

We played here on a Sunday afternoon – perfect – except that the wind was blowing 30 knots which made the course extremely temperamental. Everything is in good condition; fairways & greens in great conditions. The 10th hole was my personal favorite – nothing but water if your tee shot strays left in any way and water/trees for anything right. The only annoying this was that the ball washers on nearly every tee were BONE dry – as it turns out, quite difficult to wash a golf ball with no water. All in all, a great day out, and you will be hard pressed to pay less than $39 for 18 holes and a kart on any course of similar quality.

An interesting and challenging course, albiet short. Current dry conditions have seen a number of dry spots around the greens and the lack of water, both in the ball washers and for players makes it less than comfortable. With some decent maintenance (and water) this course could be a good days golf

Played here on the 9th August and walked off after 3 hours and 9 holes.

We joined the group in front on the 2nd as we were waiting for 2 groups of 4 in front of us at each tee. There were social clubs in front of us and they seemed to be taking their time on each hole with one player walking to other player’s balls, dropping and hitting a ball from there and then coming back to her own ball and playing it. This would sometimes mean she was walking a couple of hundred metres to hit different shots. They had no regard for the others behind them. At one stage there was 16 players lining up on tee boxes behind us as we waited for the group in front

When we got to the 10th there were 12 players waiting as another social club (8 players) just teed off the 10th. I complained to marshal at the 10th tee and he advised there was nothing he could do about it.

I spoke with the manager who advised it was unusually slow and that the 2nd social club played off the wrong tee – should have gone off the 1st. The manager could not have been more apologetic, understanding & accommodating. He gave us a voucher for 18 holes with cart to come back another time.

From what I saw, a great little course that was quite challenging. It did lack hole maps so as never having played here it was impossible to know exactly where the water was and was not.

We will try it again (only due to the voucher). This time we will check if there are social clubs in front of us before we book

Fantastic Golf Course, challenging, tight, deceptive all at the same time. Very highly recommended for a great day out. Would be a fantastic golf course to play again know that we know the layout. A large number of holes are tight, blind and almost every hole involves water or hazard of some sort. For value and a great challenge I would recommend this golf course to play. It proved very testing from the Blue tees, I would not recommend playing from the whites as they apeared to make the course far far shorter.
The greens were very slippery, dry but albeit ran very very true.
Some great holes for the adventurous, par 4’s to drive for if you are a big hitter and water hazards to contend with on some really beautiful holez.

After getting the krudd handout I was looking around for a course to call my own. I was a member at Pacific till about 7 years ago and since then have played golf about once a month.

Pacific and all other Brisbane metro clubs were far beyond my meager budget and to be honest I no longer find them welcoming. They are interested in placing as many players on the course as they can and in the mighty dollar.

My choices (based on 20-30 minutes from home) were Mt. Warren Park and Riverlakes or Logan.

Logan was considered for about 15 seconds—No bunkers, crap fairways etc.
I like Mt.Warren butwhen I walk on each tee, most holes didn’t give me that gut feeling—"Gee I want to play this hole".

On the other hand, I get thet feeling at Riverlakes.

I joined 3 weeks ago and have been genuinely welcomed by other members, pro shop staff, pro, green staff, club captain and president.

The course is not as easy as the previous 2 mentioned, but I want to be tested at golf. If I walk away with a good card, I want to earn it.

Yes, there is a lot a water (it is called Riverlakes) and real sand in the bunkers.
The front 9 is a real test, especially off the blues, whilst the back 9 tests your shorter clubs accuracy.

The couse has been a little hairy in the past, but a whole new attitude to course maintainence is being undertaken, plus a huge membership drive is underway—$650/year plus $300 of free extras.

I know I have made the right decision. Well worth a game….

Despite the last few negative reviews from users..

I think this is one of the best courses for the price in Brisbane i have not played a round where i’ve been rushed along by someone behind us and you can always get on…

Played two weeks ago after all that rain course was pretty wet but once again a most enjoyable experience..

Overpriced compared to Nudgee South Course. Should be $25-30 not $34. LOTS of Water (it is called Riverlakes I guess), so bring plenty of balls unless you can drive with pinpoint accuracy. Looks nice, but the turf is currently extremely hard. Greens were very fast on several holes – the 11th hole green was very patchy due to a lack of sun it seemed. Not a course for beginners.

Generally disappointing..

PROS

  • Tavern
  • Looks good from a distance

Cons

  • Tight design, holes very close together
  • use of double greens
  • Tee times too close, delays all day
  • getting told by members to 'step aside' when playing social round
  • insanely difficult, no holes without water in play!
  • short & tight holes limit use of driver
  • greens not great & dry fairways

Played this course and found it to be an enjoyable experience. The course did not have many people on it, so it ended up being a 3 hour round. The course is designed for straight hitters, and there are some very challeging holes, I really enjoyed 10 which is a 380m par 4 around the lake, requires very accurate driving, and I imagine the really long hitters could go for the green (by cutting the corner it may be 300m).

The staff were friendly, and it was a good mix of par 3 4 and 5s. The bunkers were well maintained, and the greens had sand covering, but that was explained.

Would definitely play again

I’ve played this course a few times and found it was a good challange and gave a shorter hitter with better accuracy a bit of an advantage compared to my big bomber partner. Control was the name of the game. Greens were in good nic and bunkers playable, but i think this course is still just a little bit over priced. I also played when there was a comp on unfortunatly and was not told by the pro-shop when booking and was forced to play the back nine twice. the front 9 is a wonderful experience with fast greens that are hard to hold and tight fairways to hit down but the back nine almost seems like they’ve tryed to squeeze in as many holes as possible into a smallish piece of land. who really cares what the club house is like i go to golf for the game not for the beer, i’d rather head down the pub for a pale ale, better to spend money on course maintanence then a flash club house that sits a 100 but you’ve only got 20 coming through the door a day.

Course is a par 70 not 68 as stated at top of this page! – Played it on a Monday and course was very quiet Good layout with some very interesting holes, not very long, but if your tee shots stray a bit you can be in lots of trouble very quickly The course management really let this club down, some of the fairways could not have been cut for at least two weeks, Greens wern’t too bad, looked like they were coming back from coring and sanding (which is fair enough) There was a good covering of grass on all fairways but so much weed grass coming through un-checked spoiled the whole look of the course $29 mid week is over priced for a course in this condition

To be honest, the course itself has the potential to be a great test for all calibre of golfer, however, poor management may bring this course undone. Before playing there, we phoned to confirm that the course had pull buggies for hire and they stated that they had plenty. When we arrived, there was one squeaky, welded-together dodge job parked around the side. Therefore, seven of us had no buggy. Therefore, we enquired to see if we could use their electric carts, expecting to get some kind of small discount, given that we had driven 45 minutes to get there and they had misinformed us. No salami. After seven holes, three of the four carts ran out of battery and we were forced to lug our clubs around for the remainder of the round. According to the pro shop, their batteries were archaic and needed an upgrade. To top it off, there was no drinks/food cart. Strange, given that it was Saturday and huge dollars can be made from the cart. Overall, mismanagement is ruining a potential gem.

Well done to the riverlakes team. I played a round on sunday morning for my first round on the course and it was excellent!. dispite shooting 5 strokes over my handicap i found the course to be very enjoyable. Green were pretty good (some duck poo on the 1st and 10th) and fairways are the best ive played at. For mine the treat of water just adds to the excitment of the game, which is why the 10th was my favourite hole. A long par 4 which doglegs left and has water going all up the left side. You have to make a choice of the tee whether to take on the water to get max distance or to play it safe. The front nine was very challenging but i found the back nine to be much easier with more par 3's inlcuded.

Ill be back to riverlakes very soon!

I have also played this wonderful little gem in the heart of Logan. I played in early March and as I am a low handicap could see that they were getting the course ready for the Pro-Am which was happening later in March. On reading past reviews saying greens were the worst they have played, they obviously have no concept of what it takes to maintain a course. Anyone with golf experience could tell that they had just completed course renovations which is something all courses do at least twice a year (normally Feb and Nov)so of course the greens would not have been as good as normal. I have played on the course before and it was exceptional! Well done to all the staff-It is an unenviable job!

Played here in Saturday comp 25/2/06. Really not impressed by the presentation of the course particularly for a comp day. The greens had recently been scarifyed.cored and sanded earlier in the week I believe and let me tell you, I would have rather putted on the beach at Surfers Paradise. They really were poor. The course in general just had that poor feel about it. The fairways were a bit rugged also. No licence to sell alcohol in the drinks cart and mustn't have had any ice because the drinks were warm. To top off the day went to the Tavern for a drink afterwards (it was cold at least) and they don't operate the kitchen on Saturdays. Very poor couldn't even get a plate of hot chips or a greasy old hamburger. Oh well, won't be back.

Played here the other day and loved it. the greens are great and the course is in excellent condition. shortish course but all of the holes have a challenge. so therefore the length factor goes out the window. all in all it is a great course.

Played this course with a mate of mine who hardly plays ( once every 3 months ) while I am a 12 marker. We both enjoyed the course as it was relatively easy for me and a good test for him. Good layout with water aplenty but does not really come into play unless you hit way off line. Course is quite short and if you where playing your A game a chance to shoot a low number however for the average player a good honest game of golf. The staff are very freindly and a pleasant morning was had by all

Played the course again last weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the improvement in the greens.

Still a very challenging layout, with all the water, but a very enjoyable round.

Despite the duck crap.I really like this course for many reasons. The staff are great, the countryclub sells well priced jimbeams and the course is interesting.

The overall maintenance is very average, but the layout reminds me of a resort course with plenty of challenging holes to match some of the better courses available around Brisbane.

Never a problem getting onto this course, only because most people would not know where to find it.

There is plenty of water on this course,as evident on the 1st and the 10th holes and the Logan river snakes around a few holes to offer a rather pleasant challenge.

Overall I would rate this course around the 6 rating.

Played it for the first time last wekend and found the course layout very enjoyable with plenty of water. Some holes you only notice the water once you walk to find where your ball went. Definitely worth playing, but the greens can certainly be improved (as per previous comments). The greens were long, bare and very duck fertilizer intensive.

On the whole, I thought it was good value for the price ($34 with card). Look forward to returnung when they improve the green maintenance.

I agree with the previous reviewers - this course has an interesting layout with some challenging holes and plenty of water.

The greens were, however, without doubt, the worst greens I have ever played on.

On some holes, the turf was an inch long and interspersed with next-to-barren patch that made putting on them an absolute nightmare.

This is all without taking the duck droppings into account which made putting on some a holes more akin to flipping a coin.

In addition, the course was poorly maintained - you couldn't even wash your ball as every single ball washer was dry as a bone.

Although the green fee + cart was reasonable, I cannot recommend this course, as the condition of the greens rendered it virtually unplayable.

Being only a beginer at Golf, I enjoy some of the other aspects of golf that others may not.
The sound of the wildlife, the gentle sway of the gum trees, the quietness of the morning. These are all things which I have been enjoying down at Riverlakes.

It is a challenging course for me as you have to be a fairly straight hitter, but to me it is a really enjoyable morning stroll among God's beautiful nature.

Well recommended!

Ps... if you go too early, you have to compete with the ducks, gees and swans on the greens around the back 9

I have never been to a course that has been so hard to find the ball. It could be the shot of your life and you dump it on the fairway, but here you may not find it. Not much of a clubhouse and is a little over priced.

On the upside it is a challenging course for the begginer to intermediate and can be fairly frustrating.

They keep the fairways fairly well but signage and fairway markers could be alot better, as you have know idea how far out you are for appraoch shots.

Socialy it is great, and with a little bit of thought and effort put in by the owners it could be alot greater!

Played here Quite a few times, it's a short course but has a couple of long holes and a string of par3's on the way home. Greens and fairways are quite good but layout is not so great. If anything it's a little short but still can be a chalange. Good course, playable but nothing special. 6/10

Riverlakes is a very interesting course. All 18 holes has water and bunkers. It may be short in lenth, however, every time I have played there it has strong wind. So when you are ment to hit a 9 iron into a green you can somtimes hit up to a 4 iron into the same green. Every day is different. The Greens are excellent and fast. Staff are great and they plenty of moterised carts. YOU MUST HAVE A TRY!
