Simple and short, can be crowded on weekends. Our tee time got pushed out over half an hour late just by poor pro shop organisation. Nearby Hillview would be a better place for golf

October 2010

Played the course recently and had a great day.

As a mid handicapper I enjoyed the wide fairways and relative ease of the course, there is very little in the way of obstacles i.e; sand, water or undulation and this makes for a great place to work on consistency.

Rosehill must have been through some upgrades since the previous reviews on this site, the course/hole markers are no longer panted bins, they’ve been updated to large sandstone blocks with hole no. and meter age plaques (look good) the fairways are in good condition and the greens are quite consistent (only encountered one that was sub standard)

In conclusion, as an average player looking for a quiet course with plenty of room and affordable greens fees, Rose Hill made for enjoyable round of golf.

Played there two weeks in a row 09/10/2010 9 holes and the again 16/10/2010 18 holes and I must say this little course is great. Not many bunkers but a few good challenging holes makes you think about club selection. Greens are like lightning so be carefull. Facilities are pretty good all round and the driving range helps alot. Value for money at $30 for 18 excellent value. Thinking of joining the social club there.

This course isn’t too bad for what you pay although some of the greens have seen better days. Although the signs of what the hole numbers are they are bins which is a bit poor

I played Rosehill Golf Course for the first time today in a social club and was rather dissapointed with the conditions and layout of the course, well where do I start? It just wasnt what I expected. Well, speaking from a 5 handicapper’s perspective, the course may have some challenging tight fairways and the rough is very sandy, thick with tuffs of parramatta grass and Kikuyu if you happen to spray one and get caught up in it. This makes the course no easy walkover despite being one of the shorter ones in the area, though many of the par 4’s especially lack length, bunkering and imagination. The greens are relatively small and in quite poor shape. They are very moist, bumpy and their speeds are not consistent throughout the course. Not the course where the low marker can expect to hole putts, thought a great course for a 12+ marker and beginners. They can learn to manufacture a great deal of shots on this course from a wide variety of lies that you encounter. The bar, clubhouse and driving range probably comprise the better facilities of the course, together with the practice putting and chipping green (I give those the 2 stars). Good course for a relaxing social hit but not good value and degree of difficulty for the better golfer, go to Maylands Penninsula for around the same price.

this course has to be one of the easiest in WA. the lenght of the course provides simple shots of the tee and minimal trees allows golfers to recover from sprayed tee shots.

the biggest challenge i have on this course is holing putts. the greens are in poor condition, some are bemt grass, other are invested with couch others with weeds.

for approx. $20 this course is good value for money and a great confidence boaster when you shoot a low score. watch out for the final three holes, a good round can come undone, very well designed finished.

the course if worth playing every now and then.

As a student its hard to find a well priced golf course that still has an atmosphere and course like the more expensive ones. I found that the ladies at the clubhouse were not very welcoming and $100 for a cart deposit is not seen these days at any other course. As Rose Hill close to home I went for an 18 Hole round and was very disappointed, I can see now why it is cheap in price. The course numbers are printed on old concrete BBQ fireplaces and the fairways along with the greens are not maintained very well. With quite a lot of sand in the fair ways and nearly no bunkers, unless you get into the rough the course is not very challenging at all. I can play at Altona, Collier Park, Bayswater, Whaleback and the Peninsula for cheaper and the course is much better maintained and challenging. I recommend that anyone planning on going to Rose Hill reconsider because you can get better value for money.

Staff are very helpful but you can't help but feel that it is a bit of a goat track. The greens are in pretty ordinary condition and we thought the fairways were a bit patchy. It is a good distance though and the staff were very helpful. But after playing courses close to it like The Vines (great fairways!) and Altone Park Golf Course (Great greens!) felt a bit let down. Much better than Embleton though!

I played at this golf course last week end, i had played there 15 years ago and there was a astoneshing inprovment, the fair ways used to be brown in summer, barely any trees, and poor greens. now the fairways are bright green and in excelent condition, the greens are nice and fast, the course has been well laid out, beutiful club house, and friendly people.( the only problem is the club house is across a busy road from the course) the day/night driving range is inpressive apart from there is a valey in the middle of it. all in all a beutiful course with friendly people

Rosehill provides the weekend golfer with a mixture of long par fives and short par threes... and everthing in between. This 18 does not break the bank and the chances of losing many balls is relatively low with the course setup as many head to toe holes with hardly anything to divide them.

Although the course is not overly challenging, ie minimal hazards and very light rough, the firm conditions and relatively exposed greens do provide some variety for a Perth public course.

Overall Igive the course as a six out of ten.
