the course is in great condition the fairways and the green look good. we had our PRO AM a few weeks back and the Pro’s said that the green are as good as any A grade course .Not bad for a public course. Well done to Kev and he’s little helper.Kev you can make the fairways a little wider. onechipgeorge 2012

Played Rosnay on the weekend for the first time. Gotta say i was impressed, this has to be one of the nicest public courses in the Sydney area and the Proshop staff were very helpful. Fairway’s were in fantastic condition as were the tee beds. Greens were rolling very nicely, was a pleasure to play there for only $28 on saturday.
Will definetly be going back for more.

To give this course more than a 2 1/2 is really pushing it. Some of the fairways are cut up and being relaid. Some greens are under some disrepair. There are some good holes, around the 6th to 8th are interesting. A lot of the course is simple, straight but you get punished for going into the rough.

Its a decent round but nothing better than a 2 1/5.

PROS

  • Some decent holes
  • friendly and well stocked pro shop

Cons

  • Cut marks on some fairways
  • some fairways are cut apart
  • some greens are severly damaged

the course is in great shape.well done kev and staff.the rain over the last few weeks has been good for the course.the fairways are too nice to land on so I don’t want to damage them so all my shots were in the ruff left or right of the fairways.

I dont know what jumpedtheshark is on about here, i think he just woke up on the wrong side of the bed and played terribly. I played the course recently and i thought it was stunning. It rained a fair bit in the lead-up but it has world class irrigation so you barely noticed it. In any case, it created a challenge which jumpedtheshark clearly couldnt handle. Im not suprised it was voted the best by the Pro-Am, it was one of the best courses i have played and i have played in 4 continents. Credit must go to the greenkeepers, they were in superb touch. Will definitely come back soon and at such competitive prices, it will be hard to resist.

well I think jumpedtheshark must have found the course to hard. What you didn’t play that well so it’s the course not the players fault.A poor tradesmen always blames he’s tools.it had been raining and that was why the course was not looking that good. but if you don’t already know This course was voted the best by the PRO-AM last year, But what would the pros know. They should get some tips from jumpthewhatever.A grader.

I am assuming a lot of these five star reviews come from the club pros themselves because this course is comfortably one of the worst I have ever played after playing there recently. The ’fairways’ look like a suburban backyard they are that unkept and long, the greens I referred to as the ’moat’ because the fringe was entirely mud, and the bunkers may as well have been made out of concrete. Avoid this course at all costs. $26.50 for 18 holes is daylight robbery. There are dozens of better value courses in far better nick in Sydney.

the course is looking great thanks to kev and he’s team. it would be good if the player could fix any divots on the green it would help keep the green in good condition. also the pro shop is looking good lots of new stuff and the staff, dean chad and daniel will do you a good deal.very friendly staff. just say george sent you.after your game pop in to the club house for a meal and a drink or two.good value.

hey fingers01 good to read your reveiw, you would of noticed a lot of improvement after your hiatus. the greens staff do a wonderful job in providing the best course they can. Rosnay actually won the best metropolitan seniors pro am last year, and from all accounts can’t wait to get back there this year! if any one out there wants a bit of a challenge then come on down and have a game, Sundays are the day with a huge raffle at the end of days play and a few bevvies.
did i mention george can’t 1 putt??

I played here today after about a 5 year absence. The course has had a lot of good improvements since then. I do recall the new pro shop being put in previously but the conditioning of the course has improved a heap.

Firstly the greens were excellent. They’ve always been pretty good here but are great at the moment. Perhaps one criticism is that they’re a little slow but that’s being picky. On a whole they were perfectly true and well presented.

New bunkering has added to the course and alot of the tees have improved significantly; especially the 15th tee and the fact that you no longer have to play off artificial grass on the short 16th is a welcome change.

Some of the areas that used to be quite ’goat track’ like areas of dirt and heavy mud after rain, particularly behind the 10th green and 11th tee, have improved out of sight with great little gardens being built.

Good practice net facilities are now available to warm up before your round and on a whole the course have improved significantly since I last played. And for 20 odd bucks on a Monday with no around it was definitely worth the visit. In fact seeing I’m on leave, I might head back tomorrow!

The course is a flat and easy walking track and although it’s short with only a par 68 rating, there are plenty of long holes to get the driver out on, with the 1st, 7th, 11th, 12th and 18th being favourites.

Definitely worth a hit if you’re after a relaxed mid week round with a mate; particulalry if you want to play local, inexpensive golf.

Absolutely love this course! greens would have to be some of the best around, i have played here many times both socially and in comp and very very impressed, the superintendant is doing a superb job! hats off to him.certainly should be a stepping stone for him to move onto a top group 1 course in the future. nothing but praise for this course especially being that i have shot my lowest score ever here 1 under 67, just great great greens to put on.

Well kevin has cored the greens and the fairways, the rain has come so the course should be in better condition now.The greens are some of the best in the state. I would rank them in the top five public or private greens. If you have not played the course in a long time then you should book yourself in and see for yourself.

I have played over 20 different courses all over Sydney and I rank this one in my top 5 and I have played at Concord (naturally number 1). For a public course it is 100% number 1. Fairways are well maintained and the green rival any greens you will play. Friendly Pro shop staff, friendly staff at the pub after your round and also friendly on your back pocket. Don’t let the price fool you it is a challenging course with long par 5’s and the infamous 15th. But some short par 3’s to help your score (or hinder in my case).
All in all the only disappointing part of all my games at Rosnay is my golf game!
Enjoy!!!

Played here recently and found the course in good condition for a public course, no doubt a combination of the weather and good green keeping. The greens were great and they have also put some work in on the tees. The course itself is not that long with some short par 3s and 4s, but some of the fairways are tight and therefore require some degree of accuracy. Also we went into the club house and found the staff friendly

the course is looking great. Kev the (green finger) green keeper should be awarded the green keeper of the year award. We are currently still playing in the warren and gibons trophy so the gourse hasn’t been cored yet.It will be done after we finish.Good luck to both the Warren and Gibson player on Sunday we are comming first in both grades.

keven the head grass cutter has the course in top condition.

with a new tee box on the 17th and a new bunker nearly completed on the 15th, will make the hole a little bit more challenging for those that lay up on the hole.

Dean,James,& daniel in the pro shop are all good guys and will help you with any of your needs. (be cautious on the 10th tee for a flying pink sherrin!) saturday and sundays are both good quality comp days with sunday being the one most members enjoy with the big raffle afternoon. all in all a good course that is being improved every year.

did i mention that george can’t 1 putt?

We just finished our club championships and the greens were in great condition. The greenkeeper kevin not (Keven)had the course in top shape. The greens where very fast. All approch shots had to be under the flag anything above the pin needed to be in the hole or you could finish up with a ten to twenty foot up hill putt. With all the rain over the last month it been like playing aqua golf. The fifteenth hole now has a fairway bunker just before the creek and the seventh has a new tee off area. After you finish your game drop in to the Rosnay golf club house and have meal and a drink.good value and very friendly staff and members.

this course is one of the best public golf courses in sydney.Rosnay or Auburn golf course if you like, is looking very good. The fairways are in great condition and the greens are as good as any in Sydney, but don’t take my word come out and see for yourself.the Green keeper Keven and he’s team have done a great job in turning the course around from a patchy tied looking old course to a excellent and well maintained course. The fairways are mostly straight but are narrow so you need to be very straight of the tee or you will be in the rough or in the trees alot.Lots of good holes My three top hole are the second par 3 201mts, fourteen hole you can reach this one if you are long of the tee but need to clear the trees or aim right through a narrow gap and fade the ball from right to left to hit the fairway. hit to sraight and you will be in the trees. and last is the fifthteen, ranked the number one hardest. This one give you to choices, if you are a long hitter you can attack this one and have a short second shot in or lay up and play a long second shot over the creek. It about 200 to 220mts over the creek, good luck.

Played Rosnay 3 months ago and joined it last month as the people there are extremely nice.

Greens are very consistant and fair.
Fairways are adequate and being improved
Most tee boxes are flat and being improved too.

Overall a throughly enjoyable course and would recommend it to anyone.

Played a few times recently and was quite impressed with its condition. The recent rain has put the greens and fairways in good nick. Favourite holes are the long par 3 second, and par 4 third. Most of the previous reviews slam this course, but it offers value for money, much better greens than most public courses and moderately challenging layout.

Royal Rosnay as some of the memebers like to call it is exactly that a members run club house and public council run course. The course is one that many will find the testing material and if you can run around on this course below par you’ll be doing well when it comes to hitting the pro courses. with slow running greens and enterprizing fairways the course will give you a run for your money.

26. ClubChampNOT | Rated | 09 Jul 2007 | Add A Review

This course located at Auburn in Sydney is a tough par 68. The greens are as good as you can get for a public course thanks to the local greens staff. Unfortunately I think the council have forgotton about the fairways which would have to be some of the worst in sydney. Woolaware a km away has far better fairways. Loved by the Koreans, forget playing saturday afternoon unless you want a 6 hour round. Midweek is far better for quicker rounds except if you get behind the ladies on a thursday morning and its a stroke round. 2 stars only becasue of the greens

Played @ Rosnay yesterday with four mates (Yes - they allowed a group of five to play with three carts!) and I have to admit it was in a lot better condition than I had expected.

Fairways reasonably good, Greens were genreally ok. Some were a bit harder and flatter while there are a few sandy bumpy ones out there.

I liked the mix of Par 3's (one quite short 89m, one long 220yds or something like that) and that long Par four coming home is a tough to get it close. One of our group eagled a short Par 5 on the front nine so it offers you value for good storkes.

We ended up playing 27 holes - and although there aren't any water hazards technically on the course, every one in our group had sprayed a ball into the river O.B at one stage or another.

Good Value and Good nick for a public course

This course has one of the hardest par 4s in sydney, the 15th.

29. q-tip | Rated | 14 Dec 2005 | Add A Review

Auburn Golf Club (Rosnay GC is the clubhouse name, donít ask me why) offers a little more than one may think. Measuring 4936m Par 68 with 8 Par 3s ranging from 90-205m, 6 Par 4s ranging from 265-360m and 4 Par 5s ranging from 450-525m, it offers a good mix of holes.

Fairways are in quite good condition, although not overly great. Greens are slow and flattish with the odd green (12th) playing a few tricks. Teebeds are in below average condition. The best holes are probably the 18TH Par 5 and the 6th Par 3. Both require accuracy as bunkers protect the greens. The worst hole is the 16th a 90 metre dud. They seem to have ran out of room on the way in with the quality 15th hole followed by the 16th shocker.

Played here on Tuesday 13th December 2005 and paid $20 for 18 holes. Uni students get a discount and pay $8 for a Tuesday round of 18. Not bad value for averagish course. Could do with more options off the tee for many holes, but worth a try.

Rosnay is my local course and has recently been renevated. This course is firly short but still has some challenging holes. It has a good mix of par 3,4,5's. The 2nd and 17th holes are challenging par 3's. The 18th is one of the longest par 5's I have played and there are some good par 4's in the 15th and 6th holes. The greens are very well maintained. New flags gardens cart pathways and some 11 new bunkers have been put in. As if the 15th wasn't long enough a new garden has been put in to extent the water hazard in the middle of the hole making impossible to clear with a driver unless you can hit close on 250 -270 leaving no option put a long iron and a long approach to the green. These recent additions has added new dimension to this well maintained course. Excellent value for money for the social golfer.

If your handicap is non-existent and clinching a par or more a round is a major achievement then Rosnay rates very highly.

Good mixture of par 3's 4's and 5's, if somewhat straight forward on some holes.

Great value for money ($17-$20) makes this one of Sydney's best kept secrets for the "social" golfer.

Beware the 14th. Hell hath no fury should you screw this one up.

Good walk, especially in winter when the 6km distance isn't as taxing.

All in all - a fairly good course for the amateur golfer.

Rosnay was a challenge I thought. The fairways tended to be a bit dry when I played there and the greens were slow. It did get very hot at Rosnay?

This course had a few par 5 that were straight as. The front nine was average but the creek came into play on some holes.

The backnine was a challenge!..Heavily surronded in overhanging trees from the champion plates made you think. Duff creek is always in play on the back.

Some holes were unsual up and down on most. If you tend to slice the back nine would be a problem for you.

Rosnay was a challenge but on a hot day it can be tiring. Very good price too.

33. rm7828 | Rated | 01 Jul 2004 | Add A Review

This course is great for those who don't enjoy walking up and down hills all day.

The tees and greens are in good condition. The fairways seem to suffering from the drought a little.

The weekday price of $16 was most reasonable for the quality of the course.

The fairways are pretty straight so most of the greens are visible from the tee, even on the par 5s.

The fairways are wide and the trees are not too thick so grab your driver and swing away.

This course is most suited those with higher handicaps.

Lower handicappers may find it unchallanging as there are very few bunkers or any other hazards for that matter.

34. Spike | Rated | 09 Jan 2003 | Add A Review

Rosnay is a fairly short and easy golf course...

But for the average golfer can prove to be very challenging.. It has wide open fairways, and a large number of par 3's, this is where I think Rosnay's strongpoint lies, as the par 3's come in many shapes and sizes some proving very difficult others not...

It is great value for money as it's only $20 for 18 holes on the weekend, even cheaper on weekdays I think...

I wouldn't really bother. I don't know why I did.
