Certainly a hidden "gem". Although not long, this course really suits the ’thinking golfer’. You must weigh up the risk for reward as errant shots will cost dearly. You must hit straight.

13 of the holes have water in play, being either full/half carries, or creeks running parallel to fairway. The ’Rough’ here is rough! Real ’rough’, not just fairway grass kept slightly longer. And with varied grass strains, can offer some very hard to play lies. Fairways are well watered since new irrigation system was installed, Pumping water from the adjacent Georges River by the famous ’Windmill’, (now that’s "Engineering")!

Bent Grass greens, that are not slick, but ’run true’, small, with subtle breaks, swails, and other idiosyncrasies.

The hardest hole, but only 4 on Index is the Par 3 7th. At 220 metres off the plates, it is a 3 or 5 wood on ordinary days, but when a Southerly or S/Easter blows, you won’t reach with a ’flushed’ driver. Unless you are on 5 Hcp or less, or can hit 280 to 300 metres.

Good practice/warm-up facilities: range(max 7iron), nets, chipping green w/bunker and rough, simulating possible course conditions, and a putting green.

I was so impressed, I joined. And for $380 annual subs, with a $75 bar tab included, how can you go wrong?

Give it a go, you won’t be disappointed!

PROS

  • Cheap, but not 'nasty'!

A very interesting 9-hole test of golf off the members tees, although I would not recommend for beginners due to the amount of water around – it would also seem that new hazards constantly being created/refined.

The use of a creative double tee system fairly much ensures you are playing 18 completely different holes.

Driving accuracy is important as strategically placed trees can greatly reduce playing avenues to many of the greens. Course condition is variable and you can meet a number of tight and fluffy lies.

Notwithstanding, a very interesting test of golf.

Can be a tough course for the beginner. Bring a lot of spare balls for the water hazards and the out of bounds and if you like coloured balls, watch out for the crows who like to steal them. Beer is cheap and staff friendly and helpful

Drainage after rain is a problem. No fairway watering so fairways are bare in places. My lest favourite course

Great little friendly course. Only 9 holes but with 18 tees. The Par 3 first over water always swallows the rusty golfers ball. Fairways are in good condition as are the greens. Water in play on most of the holes. Friendly staff and cheap prices. Can always get a game there. Well worth a hit with the mates. Toughest hole: 8th/17th. In par 4 config it is a 90 degree dogleg right with lots of trees on the right. Cut the corner and try and thread the needle through the trees or go long and risk going out of bounds trying to setup your second shot. Hit the ball straight and you will score well here. Not the toughest layout, but as a 9 holer it is one of the best going around.

The course has an interesting 9 hole layout which is actually harder than it looks. The course just needs to fix the problem with drainage and it would be an excellent course. The course is 9 holes and 18 tees seven of the 9 holes play very differently the second time round it is a good round and should go and have a go..

Great Par 70 5386 metre course. 2586m going out and 2740 metrs coming in with five Par 3s, ten Par 4s, and three Par 5s. Played here on 28/11/05 and was pleasantly surprised with this course. Firstly, it has 9 HOLES and 18 tees, positioned around 50 metres or so from each other. It FEELS like a 9 hole course. I played two balls, one for the front nine and one for the back nine and finished in 2 hours (beats playing front nine then walking around again from for the back nine, when tees are quite close to each other).

Hazards include water (1st/10th, 3rd/12th, 5th/14th) Good sized bunkers guard most par 3 greens. Best holes are the 130 metre 1st/113 metre 10th and the 138 metre 5th/ and the 167 metres 14th. Straight tee shots are a must, as the water seems out of contention, but soon becomes in play when the wind picks up.

Cost is quite reasonable. $14 for weekdays and $17 for weekends. I paid $9 for unlimited holes after 3.30pm (for 7 days), which is great value for this well-maintained course. Plenty of dams, so water is not really an issue for this course. One the few 9-hole courses I would play again quite happily. I must say this course is in my top 3 nine-hole golf courses in Sydney.

It is a lovely little 9 holer with not too many surprises and is a great course for beginners, low handicappers will find it not so good but it is not going to break the bank and it is a friendly place to play.

One of the best 9 hole hole golf courses ii have ever played. The fairways are tight but fair, the greens are small and challenging. The members are open and friendly and the bar prices well the cheapest in sydney. Definitly worth a visit.

9 holes with 18 tees.

Flat & mostly poor condition, but you do get to play around a windmill.
