have recently begun playing this course and it is definitely getting a bad rap. The course itself can is in pretty good condition and although preferred lies are on i dont really feel that they are necessary.
I was surprised at how long the course is considering it is basically a nine holer with 2 sets of tees and some of the holes are quite tricky calling for some very accurate driving. To top it off the staff are fantastic and genuinely friendly. I liked it so much im joining !!!

Not in great condition. Needs a bit of work to bring it up to scratch. Just a 9 hole course. One Mile is in better nick and you’d be better off playing there. Cart made a weird noise. Be easy if you could play. But the course isn’t attractive. Possibly one of the lower echelon courses around. Hard to see me going back there. I did win on 9 holes in matchplay.
PROS
- No one else on the course to worry about.
- Affordable
Cons
- Bad condition
- Bad environment

im a member down there and from an unbiased point of view what do you expect? you can easy go down for a hit with out interuption, the fairways are not so bad that you can’t play plus they give you prefered lie cause they know the condition is not great, and plus they have multiple tees to make it 18 holes but they dont market it as 18 so get off it. i like it good atmosphere, great staff, and reasonable little course

Sandgate is a great little course, the course itself might be not pretty but the setting is and it is always cool.

Sandgate isn’t that bad, plenty of grass as long as you keep to the fairways. Has been getting a pretty bad rap as far as I can see, but probably doesn’t deserve it. $18 for 18 holes midweek, find another course that cheap. the greens were pretty good last week, and although not as challenging or long as alot ( most) courses in Bris, still a good cheap alternative, and good fun. Sand every where, charge like a proper 18 hole course????? I think some golfers need to up their meds! The staff were some of the friendliest I come across, and you gotta love par 4’s that you actually need the driver to have any chance of reaching the green in two. For what it is this is a great little course. Those who don’t like it can stay off it.

This is without doubt the worst golf course in Queensland. There is absolutely no grass on the fairways, there is sand everywhere so the ball can’t roll and they charge you like it is a proper 18 hole golf course. I don’t know how anyone could play this course twice.

I played here today and found it to be a great course for what it is.
It is inexpensive to play and for a nine hole course had some good challenges.
The Fairways need some rain but that is true of plenty of courses at the moment.
Easy to get a game, friendly staff and a fantastic place to have a hit and introduce my sons to Golf with out upsetting anyone.
I look forward to playing here again.

Used to play here a lot about 6 years ago and recently played there again and it has improved a fair bit over that time. The fairways are a lot better. There are still a couple holes that don't have enough grass but mostly that's in areas you should be able to hit over anyways.
It's quite a challenging little course so worth a go.

This course must have been improved. You can see where they still have problems but also where they have fixed them. Some challenging holes - lots of water. Nice staff at clubhouse.

This course gets plenty of baggings from those who have played it. The most common insult is that it's "a farm".
Not so in my opinion - A farm has grass on it!
A nine hole course with two tee areas to get it up to 18 holes. The greens are barely passable but the fairways are a joke.
The best hole is the 8th - itw ould not be out of place on any course if they could ever get some grass on the fairways.
If you have to play there then grit your teeth and get through it. If you have an option - Pass

Played sandgate on 19/6. good course. generous fairways and greens that test but arent overly difficult. only issue was in pro shop. bloke who served us answered with grunts and was fairly rude. apart from that was a thoroughly enjoyable round and will definitely return.
