Sea View is a magnificent 9 hole links course on the edge of the Indian Ocean. The views out to Rottnest Island are sensational and you’ll be surprised at the quality of the playing surfaces. The greens are a match for any of the top Perth metropolitan clubs.

The course is characterised by small, well guarded and heavily contoured greens, fairways lined with tea trees and ever present ocean views. Add to that a morning easterly or the afternoon Fremantle Doctor and you have a course that challenges the skill and strategy of even the most accomplished golfer.

The course is available to green fee players on the following days: Monday all day, Tuesday and Thursday pm only, Friday morning and Sunday afternoon.

Interstate and overseas players with an official handicap may compete in club competitions on payment of green fees and competition fees.

See STEWJ05 comments. The bunkers have improved, and the price has gone up to $25. It is a good quality course though that would be a great test with the breeze blowing. Had the course to ourselves on Tuesday.

One of the toughest courses in the Perth area. Great value for money and other than Saturday until around 3(comp day) is always pretty easy to get a round here. Stunning views and ever present wind conditions always make it a real challenge.

Great course … terrific links style with narrow fairways and small greens. The course looks great and is in good condition. Everpresent sea breezes make this a tough day out but it has its rewards with stunning ocean views from every hole.

The jury is still out on this course. For nine holes the price was a bit steep ($20), but the quality of the course is good. Wind is a major factor here, and will change your choice of clubs. The driver can be used on all holes of distance though. Greens are small, and not hard and overly fast. My only beef here are the bunkers, which are basically a thin layer of sand over hard; makes it very difficult to play a proper bunker shot. This is somewhat unusual for a coastal course (and semi-private to boot).

Sea View is a well maintained and interesting little course. What it lacks in length it makes up for in its tightness, wind exposure and small greens that are firm and of links character. The view is fantastic out over Cottesloe, down towards the port of Fremantle in the south and west towards Rottnest Island. Dont let the view, slip you into holiday mode, because you are up for a challenge if that wind blow, and most days it does.

I played this afternoon and I had a shocker, putted ok but struggled to find the fairway on some holes from the tee and paid for it. I would actually only hit driver on about 3 out of the 9 holes and the same from the tees for the back repeating nine if I go back for more. This is because the greens are small and hard to the point that you need a fuller shot to hold them as the wind dries them out and literally blows the ball past the hole when it lands.

Visitors are welcome here with golf link handicaps to play in the comp. Green fees on a Sunday are $30 for 18 holes. Its a little pricy for a course that has 9 repeating holes in my opinion though its good for a hit at now and then. This course is for good ball strikers who can hit very low, penetrative shots but if you cant hit it solid, you may as well try to catch it when it blows back to you. This is possibly the windiest course I’ve ever played in WA. A true test of character.

PROS

  • Windy and tight course with undulating layout, good greens, great views

Cons

  • Its just a repeating 9 holes, public can distract play as tees are close to boundaries of course

This is a great little course, distance isnt huge but in the wind it becomes very tricky. Best course in WA in my opinion, great fairways, fast small greens, extremely challenging for those who cant hit low and straight. Narrow fairways and postage stamp greens. Club pro is quite the character, good bloke! Views are awesome, if only they had enough room for 9 more brilliant holes. Those who complain it is too complicated, either can't play in the tough conditions or they aren't intelligent enough to understand the relatively simple layout. Thankyou Sea View, great experience. The junior pennants team also looks incredibly strong

Tough critics. A great little course, good fun. Given space constraints it was never going to be Kingston Heath, but I always have a ball when I come here, especially when the wind is up, which is every day. And yes, has teh best ocean views of just about any course in the world.

The best thing about this course is the view - which is superb. The course itself is a criss cross of greens & fairways which can be a touch confusing first time round, especially as there was no course map when we played. 1st/10th & 8th/17th greens are almost on top of each other & there is a seperate hole for each, so check with the pro shop what colour flag goes with front/back nine. When going on to green at 6th/15th watch out for anyone teeing off at 7th/16th. Need to check weather before playing here because when the Freo Doctor blows it can reek havoc with your shots. Watch out for pedestrians using Jarrad St to gain access to beach (runs through middle of course).
