Great course, championship for that matter. Great service and great price.

Will play again for sure. The night golf 9 hole special including dinner for $44 will also be a winner this winter.

We went in June, and the course was well covered and kept. Greens a bit hard but to be expected during winter. Club house was great and food good after a long round. Will definetly go back again!

The highlight of the day was my ’hole in one" on the 8th tee.
A memorable afternoon.

Slop, slop ,slop fairways still soaked and churned up from carts and took 5 hours to play as too many booked, greens are good.

Sadly the course was suffering from all the recent rain. It was quite boggy, and balls seemed to always land in these boggy spots. We were held up and our game was extended by 45 minutes because of a group of four women in front.

good course bit wet but that was to be expected. Layout good test but not to hard big bonus being able to finish in dark because of the lights on back 9.

On the whole good. Despite the recent bad weather the course was in reasonable condition. The staff very helpfull and freindly.

A little sad to see the urn for coffee in front of an honour board, which seamed to be causing some the printing to peel off.

Good course in great condition considering recent rains. Only criticism was that they didn’t put cards or pencils in the buggies which seems to be the normal thing..luckily we noticed just before teeing off!

Playing Sunday afternoon was an adventure as it took 1 1/2 for just 4 holes so basically we won’t be doing that again.
I like the course but not when people come there to teach their 6-7 yr old child to play golf in front of numerous groups of avid golf players who did’t really want to be held up by this sort of play!

Great value course and in good condition throughout. Staff, clubhouse and pro shop well above average and the last two times I’ve played here I’ve managed to shoot under my handicap ( which doesn’t happen often ) so I like the place and will be back. Best to leave the driver in the car. The only negative and it’s the same on most courses these days is the slow play. A lot of golfers need to realise that they aren’t playing for a million dollars and really dont need to look at the putt from all four sides on every damn green ( particularly when they’ve already had 6 shots to get there ).

Nice flat track for walkers. Not too tough but trouble lurks with water in play on several holes. Well-maintained and in good condition. It’s one of my favourites on the Gold Coast and very reasonably priced.

Really enjoyed the day at the Emerald Lakes course. It is in good condition and the greens and fairways offer the golfer of all levels a real challange. We had a dad and ten year old playing in fron of us and while the lad showed promise the play was real slow and we waited many minutes at every Tee. THe green keepers have a habit of spraying the greens while your still on the green!!! and several greens ahead had the spinklers on and were sodden and pools of water around the greens were negatives

First time at Emerald lakes and enjoyed the round of golf. We were slightly late teeing off so the last couple of holes were played under lights (a new experience). The lights are fine unless you go slightly off the fairway and then you have lost the ball.
The course is challenging enough for me a new player (4 months) but carded a 106. None of our party had played before and the map of the course is too small to give an idea the par 5 hole layout and dog leg etc. We were all aiming our shots into the water when we didn’t even know water was there!!!

The course was in great shape after the rain. The fairways were a little slow, but the greens were the right speed and were running true. As it is a relatively short course (only 5500 metres from the White Tees) it is very inviting and tempting for the long hitters to really let loose – but beware there is plenty of water to trap any wayward hit.

Played 18 holes on a Wed and found the course challenging and in fine condition. Most of the holes have got a challenging aspect, be it a strategically placed bunker, water hazard or dog leg turn.

This is my third time here and even though I’ve enjoyed playing the course, the amount of traffic still continues to be a problem. Management seriously needs to consider how it books players on tee times because its a major turn off for a lot of us who are visiting for the day and have other stuff to attend to after the game

28. kevin88913 | Rated | 06 Jan 2009 | Add A Review

Played 9 holes and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The course is a good length from the white tees with enough of a challenge to make it interesting but each hole is able to be reached in regulation figures. The tee times need to be more regulated- we had three sole players play through. The greens were very fast.

We have played the course before and it was superb. However, we played the course just after Xmas 2008 and our experience was not so enjoyable. Indeed, the course was virtaully unplayable due to excessive surface water. I realise that the course managers have no control over the elements, however some sort of compensation would have been appreciated given the circumstances.

It is obvious that the course has no drainage system as there was too much casual water on the fairways. We arrived for our designated tee time to find 5 groups of 4 in front of us waiting to tee-off – we teed off 45 mins late. It could have been later as we had to wait for a buggy to arrive (that was 20 mins late).

The course is in super condition. The gardens and grounds are equally maintained to a high stanard. Excellent value just $33 after 1pm met a member on the first tee who showed us round & pointed out where to hit.

Course in good condition, the greens were quite fast but very true with a smooth roll. Played off the blue tees but still quite short I put two in the water on one par 5 but still got a 6.

A plesant afternoons golf took less than 4 hours walking in a 3 ball. Shot a 85 one under my handicap first time out will go back one evening to play under lights.

Hard winter fairways and greens, slow play, and a cart that ran out of juice halfway down 18, other than that it was fun. It wasnt my cart that ran out, it was the other pair… I like Emerald Lakes, it’s always welcoming and even though it’s quite short, it is a challenge as you really need to stay on the fairway. I think I lost one ball on the day, shot 80 without a struggle and really enjoyed myself. It was the first time I have ever played golf with non English speaking people, two lovely Koreans, a husband and wife who couldn’t have been more polite, I hope I lived up to their expectations… This was a great experience and a lot of firsts for me. If the course wasn’t so short I would give it four stars.

started off slowly due to the 1st being a short par 4. speed of the round not great given that, the tees were all at the front & pins in friendly positions. having said that the course presented well, greens good for the weather(cold nights – frosts). should really put on 2 days – one for golfers with an agu handicap and have a handicap limit. then another for social golfers and less experienced golfers. the round was held up by 2 asian ladies who had no idea about speed of play + waiting for what seemed an eternity to play when they could not reach the group in front – general etiquette poor. they may have all day to play but, others dont, group in front of these ladies possibly 2 holes + ahead at one stage.

According to the Pro Shop the discount rate prompted an avalanch of bookings which put around 360 golfers on the course. Our time (11.57) was late but even so, with no stop at the halfway we finished at 5.19 pm. By the time I got back to Brisbane I had not only missed my dinner at Eventide but I had to seek a bed elsewhere. I was lucky that Pat Welsh was in China for the Games so I sat in his garage and chewed on his tyres for the night. Seriously, I brought three golfers down from Brisbane and even though they all played well the day was a disaster. I could never get them back again. Having said that, we were all impressed with the staff, service, and enthusiasm of the pro shop people.

We had eight players on a perfect day. The staff from Emerald Lakes (Proshop, drinks cart, BBQ) were very pleasant and well organised. Having someone on the 1st tee was not only helpful but got us off to an enjoyable start. We found the tee areas all excellent (Blue markers) and the fairways in good condition. The small shrubs to mark the 100m and 150m is a nice touch. Bunkers were tidy with soft sand. The greens were challenging and just a little bouncey. Some people obviously do not own a divot repairer. Overall though they were fine. The course in general is interesting and well organised around the water. It was suitable from our beginner golfer right through to our low handicapper. Had a great day and will enjoy playing there again. The price – What can I say – $18 with carts – WOW.

Played on 11/08/2008 I’m a Gold Coast resident and have played Emerald Lakes several times. I never found any fault with the course but the last time I played it took us 6 and 1/2 hrs. After that I promised myself never to go back again, especially with the great and varied choice we’ve got here. Well, I just couldn’t go past playing for 18 $ with the Iseek special so off I went. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised: even though there were obviously heaps of people, all taking advantage of the promotion, the pace was pretty good. Took us 4 and half hrs. The course was in good condition and the staff very friendly. They had organised a tent between holes where you could go and get drinks and sandwiches/breakfast. I saw the drinks cart at least 5 times running around. Even though it’s clear they made the extra effort to look good during the Iseek special day I think I’ll go back again next month to see if things have changed for the better. I might just use one of the vouchers that they gave us as part of the promotion….... :)

There are distances on all the Sprinkler Heads here, all measured with laser, and the card tells you that the 100 and 150 tree markers are there.

Emerald Lakes has something that most people don’t realise, all they see is a short easy course. For one thing, if you are not hitting the ball straight, you will lose a lot of balls in the lakes. Its not called Emerald Greens for a reason !

The other is that every green bar one has 2 or 3 tiers, which gives each hole some very different strategies depending on placement. Sure you can bomb away and most don’t notice the subtle difference.

Next time you play it, just look back from the green and see how different each hole needs to be played.

I played at the course on Saturday. I thought considering all the hype from different people who had played the course that it would have been better. We only played 9 thank god , because that took us 2 1/2 hours. No Markers for 150 & 100m , they are apparently 2 little trees that mark those distances which we found out after the game. Its built for the average golfer though, nobody loses very many balls.

Played in the afternoon, 2pm, and easily got in before 6pm using two hired carts with my mates. Had to wait on couple of holes but generally the field moved fast. Played in October 2007, two weeks before the Queensland PGA and after the storms. The course condition was great and greens excellent. This short course can be difficult but will usually flatter the “B” or “C” grader who is not too long off the tee but fairly accurate with a competative score. A graders will eat the course on the par 5s. Great clubhouse since the mods last year and a very relaxed atmosphere all round.

Quite simply I do not understand why the club takes booking for social golfers.

They offer an excellent deal for 18 holes, a cart, ball, towel etc for A$55. But then treat you like lepers for having the audacity to turn up the same time as members do!! Do you want to have an enjoyable social game of golf with friends – it won’t be – don’t get sucked in.

If you want to hit up on the group in front, blank their friendly "G’Day", powerwalk past them and then when you hit a bad tee shot at the next hole (as they waited behind you because you wern’t actually that good anyway) smash your A$500 driver into the turf and swear as if in the trenches then come along you’ll fit right in or be questioned when walking up the 16th fairway with "Are you lost?" because "I haven’t seen you here before". (The irony being that the "golfer" asking had sliced their shot so badly that they were on the wrong side of the wrong fairway). I could list another half dozen events but I think you get the idea…

If you want to have a social round with friends who are learning the game (not that bad, just learning) then I recommend you clearly state this when booking as you will NOT BE WELCOME when they are busy. (which from the previous entries appears to be always).

The gentleman organising the first tee tried his best to keep things moving but clearly there is a difference between the people organising the bookings and the capacity of the course to handle the volume of players being booked. Some will say we are the cause of this issue as we cannot play off a low handicap but from what my friends and I witnessed we were by no means the worst players on the day.

We were so upset at the way we were being harrassed by payers and the course marshalls we decided to only play 9 holes. We discussed this with the genteman organising the first tee and he heard our issue.

We retired to the clubhouse. After being stared at by every member of the clubhouse we decided to put this one down to experience and leave.

Now, maybe I am being naive as I have only just set out on my quest to master the wonderful game of golf. So far I have played on half-a-dozen courses with great enjoyment and camaraderie with the other players I have met.

The overall feeling we left with was that this was STRICTLY FOR MEMBERS ONLY.

yes this course may play a little slow due to large bookings but if you are going to play it you want to make a day of it. It has beautiful surroundings and i think offers something for all level of player. For the price i think it is a great day out, follow it up with a nice cold beer and great meal form the resturant. It makes for a great day.

if you are a long hitter who can hit shots under 100 metres then you will eat this course. the course is cheap and in prime position so always appears to be packed

Played here under lights early October and it took 3 hours to play 9 holes. Ok it took 2.45 mins but it was painful and really off putting. Everything else is well above satisfactory. Comon guys everyone complains about the same thing get your bookings sorted out.

I played this course on 16 September. Our tee off time was 1:40pm although we teed off a little earlier, thanks to the marshall on the first tee. The front 9 was quite slow, with a build up on a number of the par 3's (at one stage there were 4 on the green, and 2 groups of 4 waiting to tee off and then the 2 of us).

The back 9 was much quicker and it was about a 4.5-5 hour round for 18 holes.

A very nice course though, the fairways were quite good and the greens also pretty good. At $48 including cart and range balls (courtesy of the virginmoney voucher) this was a good price for a good course. I will play here again.

I liked this course the fareways were not as good as some of the other coast courses but they were still of a high standard. I found the greens to be quite difficult to read however perhaps i was just having an off day with the putter.

The course was pretty slow even with carts we still had a 4.5 hr game the course simply puts too many ppl on for the weekends with groups of 4 going every 10 mins.

Having said that the layout was really nice and dispite its shortish length still offered plenty of challenges Check it out for yourself.

I played here on Easter Monday with 3 of my friends & absolutely enjoyed it. We decided to get carts & to our surprise found they were fitted with GPS that made playing the course a breeze. Loved the new layout after playing here only once before back in the late 1980's and loved feeding the ducks. The cold beer and meal afterwards were superb coming back soon with my friends and we're not going to be counting the minutes on how long it takes, enjoying the experience will be far more rewarding.

Had heard glowing reviews about this course and was not disappointed.Having played one of the coasts glamour courses on easter sunday for top dollor we fronted up to this little beauty on monday expecting heavy traffic and a slow game as the day before. But was pleasantly surprised with a four and half hour game and the four of us had a great time, can't wait to get back and play the tiger tees.

Nice course with a great selection of different holes, but why does it take five plus hours to play.

There has to be something wrong here.

I would love to play again,on this course but not enough time in a day!

as I had looked forward to playing this course the group I played with pulled out after nine holes due to the slowness, it took us three hours just to play nine holes the course was over booked due to students playing from the University

the course definately challenging although short, green fee very competive compared to some of the more elite courses

went to this course with high expectations and anticipation of maybe getting to play under lights on the back nine and it delivered. was there mid week and it was very busy, joined up with a wonderful couple to play a very slow front nine but gave us all a chance to have a chat , perhaps a course marshall to keep it moving a little more would be something to consider.

the course was in great nick ,greens were very quick during the day which made it challenging for all but reward for good position and with some well positioned water and bunkers added to the challenge. the novelty of the back nine at night seemed to make my game improve and came away with a great round. the facilities are first class and you can see why they host the Pga there, this is a must play for anyone.

I played at Emerald lakes a while back in early january 2005.

Like all resort courses the entire course was maintained beautifully. The upside was that it was fairly short but still challenging and the greens were forgiving.

I great course for all handicappers high and low and i can't wait to get back there!

I played a round there in September, about 6 weeks or so before the Qld PGA Championship was played there. It's a short but challenging course, well mainted (as you would expect for a resort course).

Not too difficult, you can play to your handicap without thinking too much... the greens are forgiving.

A very popular course and a wait on each hole to tee off. The clubhouse food is great and atmosphere is fun.

Played in January 2004. Fantastic layout in superb condition. A variety of tee positions to cater for all levels of ability. Unlike a lot of resort courses you do not lose your ball to water each time you stray from the fairway and the cost to play was very reasonable. Would love to play the course again.
