Good country track which is totally voluntary. Lovely lush fairways and the greens are small but in pretty good nick. Very friendly members and i guess i’m a little bias as i grew up in the town and moved away before the course was established. Always enjoy getting out for a round when i get back for a visit.

South Pines for me is the ultimate relaxing course to play. This is mainly due to the fact that even during holiday periods, there is a good chance that this course can be played and another soul not be seen. I played twice over the recent Christmas break, the course was a lot greener than I have seen it previously and I would like to see it like that all the time. Unfortunately though during drought times though it does get very dry and the fairways hard. An enjoyable course to play overall, I feel almost hesitant to recommend it as it would be lovely to keep such a hidden secret. Even iseekgolf currently has it listed as in South Australia..!

PROS

• Hardly ever busy - no queues at tee off & no waiting around
• Lovely scenery & wildlife - Rabbits, ducks, even the odd Kangaroo or Echidna
• Only $15 for eighteen holes - bargain!!

Cons

• A few doglegs - can seem a bit repetative
• Rock hard fairways when there has been a lack of rain

South Pines is a club run entirely on voluntary labour. The condition of the course has improved remarkably over the past few years with several greens getting makeovers and the fairways now having a good, even, kikuyu spread. The greens are also in excellent condition, and the undulating layout has wide fairways with an excellent mix of holes. All round this course is excellent, and definately worth playing when in the area.
