Southport Golf Club is an easy walking course with tree lined fairways and strategically placed water catchment areas. The course starts with a reasonable par 5 and most golfers meander through the first nine holes comfortably. The back nine is where games are won or lost with “amen” corner commencing with the par 3, 14th hole. This is where Southport has held itself together in tight pennant matches.
The greens are 328 couch with green leas park couch fairways. The trees on the course are varied as are the birds and wildlife. Water dragons can be seen sunning themselves on the banks of the water catchment areas and members have their favourite turtles, which come up to be fed. This all leads to a comfortable day for golf and a chat with friends and guests.

Played Southport today. Impressed with overall presentation. Short course but requires strategic thought, especially on tight and well designed back nine. Back nine is the highlight of the course. The greens are fantastic! Best I have played on the Coast. Roll fast and very true. Overall, impressed with the course. More could be done to raise standard of fairways.
