Played this course last weekend. Despite the recent hot & dry weather the fairways were in reasonably goof condition and the greens were excellent. However the tee boxes were rubbish and the general aesthetics of the course wern’t too flash either with empty dams and dry scrub…but I gues they don’t control the weather.

I’ve played here a few times over the last few years and each time the course seems to get harder and the round seems to get slower.

I don’t mind the hard bit (a lot of blind shots and hidden traps) but the slow bit pissed me off. We were held up by too many walkers – now I don’t mind walking but not when I play this course, it was basically built into a valley so you go down the hill before having to come back up. It’s a tough course to walk, so when you get 50 year old hackers trying to walk the play can be oh sooooo slow.

At $56 it’s very well priced for 18 + cart IMHO which makes the walkers all the more frustrating.

Played this course last weekend. Course is in fairly good condition.

Having never played the course there are a few holes where you are not too sure where to exactly play too, but that makes it that a little more challenging.

It would be good to see a marshall like they have at moore park to hurry along and offer some advice to some of the more casual golfers playing there as you can get a little held up.

If you think you need that extra club on some of the shorter holes then take it as I am not sure all the yardage is correct of the tees.

Large greens that really need to be read well as some are not as obvious as others!

The trouble with the couse is that they allow too many “hackers” to play. The greens are challenging enough without all the pitch marks in them, I repaired about 4 per green and then my own as well. I would like to see the pro shop and staff more concerned about the greens than driving around selling ‘drinks’ to other players. If i was a member i would be very disappointed with the way the course is looked after.

Havig said this i would play there again as it is reasonably priced especially with the discount voucher, in total under $50 for 18 holes and cart.

I played this course in october 08 and it is not a course i would walk again. The whole time you are on the course you are going up and down hills which makes it very tough. The thing i found disappointing about this course is that most tee shots you have to hit blindly as you can’t see the landing areas. The greens were also quit slow the day i played and the unevenness of the green surrounds made it a tough day. This course is ok but wouldn’t rate it too highly.

Played here at the beginning of Jan 08. Considering we hadn’t played here before the pro shop gave us photocopied cards with no course map. If you have played here before you will know without a map it can be quite difficult to find the next whole.

The greens were quite good but no where near the claims of the best in Sydney. Some of the par 5’s can be reached easily if you choose to hit over the doglegs.

The fairways were quite rough but I expect this is due to the drought.

Not a bad course but not a good course either, I would not like to walk this course and not sure if I will race out here to play again.

Recently played the course after spending an evening there at a function and enjoying the great food and atmosphere. I thought if the food was that good then have to try the course. Being a hacker, it looked a little daunting although I was lucky enough to have a good round. The course has some challenging holes and has superb greens. The recent rain looks to have helped the fairways along from what I have read earlier as they are in excellent condition. The new driving range is a bonus as well and lets you have a bit of a bash before you get amongst it. The staff are friendly and very helpful, especially the lady at the front desk. She is only too happy to accommodate your needs and ensure you have a enjoyable experience on or off the course. Definately worth the trip out there and a feed after. 2 thumbs up.

After receiving an invite to this course I remembered the comments from people who had played it some time ago, they were not all good but I was presently surprised with the whole setup. Rolling up to the clubhouse I was pleased by its good standard with pleasant and welcoming staff. Before we set off to the course we had a bit of fun hitting a bucket of balls into and across the dams. The course, built just before the recent drought, was always going to struggle early on, but with the recent rain it seems to now have plenty of water and has put the course in good condition. The greens are a standout, and there was obviously a lot of money and effort put into them from the beginning. It is defiantly not a long course but it was never intended to be a ‘get your driver out on every hole’ type layout. Here you have to think and plot your way round to get the most out of it. In fact it reminds me of the courses in the south downs of England with a rolling landscape. You can get your driver out and have a bash at a couple of holes but beware the consequences. I would recommend this course for all level of players. Its good value and fun.

Played here last weekend as part of a social club, the Clinker Cup.

Day did not begin well, with an issue with tee times, that said, the super friendly pro-shop guy did get us on, with much needed carts some 40mins late.

Course has changed the numbering of holes since I last played there, but remains in my opinion, a decent track, especially at the iseekgolf rate of $25.20 plus cart.

The par 3’s are all of a testing enough length, and the par 5’s easy to annex points for the mid range handicapper. We also noted the club have cut back much of the dense scrub adjacent the fairways which makes for a more pleasurable experience. Greens are in good condition, albeit, on this occasion, pins were set in some crazy positions.

Toughest hole still the dinky little 15th, Eagles Nest, with a blind tee off to a raised green. Go for it and miss, and be in the lap of the Gods, amongst a heap of long grass. Thank goodness the recent rains have softened the previously flint hard fairway on this hole. Best play, unless you can hit a driver as straight as Fred Funk, is to lay up with a 4 iron, then hit a wedge into a tight green. Needless to say, the chumps I played it with all made heavy work of this gem.

Beware playing a coloured ball on the 16th or 17th, where crows prevail. Our 3 groups lost a total of 5 pink “handbag” balls on these 2 holes.

In short, this course IS hilly, but, has improved greatly with decent watering over the winter. An old jalopy well stocked with beers regularly polices the course, whilst the clubhouse is an absolute belter, complete with delicious calamari and chips and post Saturday comp roast.

Good players will destroy this place, but, it remains a solid test for the mid-higher competitors.

One word: Hills. One tip of advice: Get a cart. Some very narrow fairways, fairways usually pretty hard. All par 5s are potential eagle opportunities. Some large greens as well, has all the looks of a links course. If you saw the terrain, you wouldn’t think of building a golf course there. If your going to attempt to walk this course… make sure your fit (or either love walking, or are mad) as it is one of the most undulating courses you will ever play. Caught up to a group in front once that were playing slow… was due to the fact one guy was walking and playing… on a crutch (looks like he had an ankle problem) I took my hat off to this man. Friendly staff, and nice big clubhouse. If you want something different, check it out.

Boy what a hilly course, played in a cart and that was still a struggle.

There are some interesting holes on the course which do require accuarcy but generally I found the par 3s good, the par 4s average, and the par 5s average.

It is not the type of course you can play once and expect to play well, there are quite a few blind shots where if you dont drive to the correct part of the fairway you are penalised.

Al in all a nice place but not worth the $50 we paid to play in the comp.

I was not expecting a great deal from this course due to the recent lack of rainfall and that is exactly what we got.

The greens are some of the better around at the moment. I think that we caught them on a slower day as they were quite furry but I can imagine them being some of the best out there when a little faster.

The course plays very short, even off the back tee's. This is not just due to them being limited for space but also because the fairways are dry as a bone and fairway grass comes around not very often. Most of the par 4's that were not uphill were either driveable or a 4 iron and half a wedge

My favourite aspect of the course were the par 3's. Some great use of the landscape and interesting greens make these the most enjoyable. The par 5's were a bit lost on me. sitting in the middle of the fairway on the 7th about 220 out I had no idea where I was going and then on the 9th your confronted with a massive tree blocking 80% of the green which makes for no fun at all.

I would be interested in coming back when there has been a prolonged period of rain. The green fee (around $30 i think?!) including the cart is value but there are many better around

Many of the reviews to now have captured the essence of the place - characterised by good greens (certainly not the best in Sydney but a solid feature), hilly terrain and rather dry fairways.

It actually amazes me someone decided to build the course in this spot - it rises up into a gully and somehow fits in 18 holes with only a handful of holes close to one another.

I liked the use of the topography in most instances, and the variances in hole distance serve it well.

I think the best par 5 is the last, the best 4 is a toss-up between the 4th and the 11th (quite different so hard to split), and the best par 3 is the 17th, which is like an inverted Wentworth (West) 2nd hole, with a large tree astride the green, elevated tee with the green set into an upslope.

The disappointments were the 6th, 7th and the 1st. The 6th, a short par four blind from the tee with bunkers in the middle of the fairway and a very narrow landing area for the aggressive play (so you can't see where your ball goes if it misses that landing area), simply must have the ridge blocking your view from the tee knocked down. It's dangerous and leads to too many lost balls.

The 7th is a 5 with a blind 2nd, and we couldn't even spot the green walking up a ridge - with other holes close by it was a dangerous situation.

The 1st has too much camber to the right in dry weather - at best your ball will end in the narrow strip of rough separating it from the 9th. The tree guarding the green from the right therefore is virtually always in play.

At $30 for the round on a Saturday it was superb value though, considering Camden Lakeside (admittedly a superior course) down the road is more than double that.

I'd have to be injured to ever take a cart playing golf, and I enjoyed the walk in the very hilly terrain. Those who are less mobile will need carts.

Measures 5503m Par 70 from the back ëGrangeí plates (or 4720m Par 70 front ëlinksí tees) with six Par 3s ranging from 135-185m, 8 Par 4s ranging from 295-390m and 4 shortish Par 5s ranging from 445-485m. The greens were fast, true and, mostly large/long tiered ñ I was impressed with its condition and liked the bunkers that protect most greens. The teebeds were quite smooth, while the fairways were extremely thinly covered and very dry. The last 2 holes are the best challenges here, in my opinion.

Par 5s here just do not get my respect, but the large, fast double-tiered greens do. I love the greens here, but course has not nearly enough challenges for me. The large greens are good, but if you hit it straight here you find yourself making lots of greens in regulation. Firm, rewarding undulating fairways and prevailing winds makes this course easier than it should be, even from the back plates.

The course is very hilly (cart recommended) with a part ëlinks feelí layout that misses the mark with the par 5s not designed well, all reachable in 2 with a mid-iron, and a few par 4s too short. The proshop says there are plans to utilise the 200 or so acres within the clubs boundaries, but until they do this, I may visit others next door. Played here 10/5/06 with green fees $39 with a cart after 1pm.

Had a late tee time on Sunday, 2 April, so I figured we would only get in 9 or 10 holes, but we were able to get through 15 holes in just under 3 hours. Greens were in great condition - some of the best that I have played on in the Sydney area - and quite large. Layout of the course is good, but a couple of the fairways were pretty close together (I heard a few "fore" calls) and quite hilly so I'd recommend use of a cart.

I will definitely play this course again.

Seeing the low rating and bad comment almost stopped me from organising a round of golf in this course with my friends. I am glad we ignored the bad comments and went to see it ourselves.

The course is pretty good, people given it a "2" are a bit biased. It maybe new and rough before but it is certainly very enjoyable to us now.

The only bad thing is similar to the previous comment, the social/comp group simply selfishly overenjoyed themsleves and have no respect to groups behind them. they are two holes behind the previous one, took too much time on putting.

It is worth going, we will be visiting again, just hoping that we will not be playing after those selfish comp/social groups.

I played here yesterday with a social club for the first time in 2 years. The last time we played here, it was pouring with rain but the greens were brilliant so I was looking forward to playing here again.

The layout isn't too bad and the greens were quite good, although pretty spongy. There was quite a lot of "works in progress" on the course as well. While I know it is a links course, the rough is just too long on most holes. One slightly off line shot and you are penalised severely. When you are playing with a social club whose players are of average ability, there has to be some element of forgiveness in the course. We were also stuck behind a group of 6 people and another with 5 in it!! This resulted in the round taking in excess of 5.5 hours to complete - even though we were in carts!!

You are advised to leave the driver in the bag as often as possible and play the easy option if you don't want to lose any balls.

Let's see if things improve by the time we play here again.

Poorley designed course. I played there midweek and was very surprised with the course layout, I felt like I was playing some imaginary course on tiger woods 2005.

Greens are extremely large and very fast.

Didn't enjoy my experience at all, and left after 9 holes.

Best greens in Sydney. Worst fairways in Sydney.

18. gtsgubby | Rated | 31 Jan 2004 | Add A Review

Played it today and was somewhat underwhelmed.

The greens are large, true and quick and for the most part in good condition. A couple of the greens however were showing signs of wear and either lack of water or poor maintenance.

The fairways are hard, undulating in links style, a bit bare in parts but generally forgiving of the wayward shot.

The whole layout appears very dry and even dusty in parts particularly around tee's and cart ways.

The course seemed well patronised which tested the layout logistics. Several fairways run close to each other and the definition between them is not always clear. The 'Fore' cry was heard many many times which I think represents a design flaw, they are just too close. At least half the fairways had a player from an adjoining fairway playing from it.

The fact that our round took 5 hrs 15 mins to complete did nothing to endear our group to this course which, with lots of water, care, and solid greensmanship could be quite good.

I have played this course a number of times in the last 18 months and as it is only in it's infancy, the condition of the greens have always been perfect. I would say that these would go very close to being the best greens in Sydney.

Generally they are medium to large in size with a lot of subtle breaks... and some not so subtle.

The short par 4 4th green is over 60 metres from front to back!

The fairways are improving slowly but obviously have struggled due to the lack of water. There are 3 or 4 very large storage dams that at present are only about 5% full and the course is watered from these dams.

The layout itself is interesting with 13 tees being elevated and most, if not all the par 5's reachable in 2, depending on the wind direction.

The course is also probably the hilliest course in Sydney which leads to some interesting dogleg holes which require some good positioning off the tee.

Becuase of the elevated tees, distance perception is difficult especially on the par 3's notably the 5th, 13th & 15th holes.

The views toward the Sydney skyline are spectacular and the newly constructed clubhouse sits comfortably into the landscape.

I would rate the greens as 5 star however the fairways at present are only 2 star. The layout itself would be 3 star so overall, at present a 3 star rating would apply with an upgrading to 4 star when the fairways can get their fair share of water.

20. andrew14966 | Rated | 29 Dec 2002 | Add A Review

Very hilly & very firm, cement like fairways. Some interesting holes, but also some unfair holes as well.

The prevailing wind seems to be into all but one of the par 4's, but all the par 5's (except the last) run the other way, so the wind is with you. This makes the par 5's very easy. On the ones going with the wind I hit drive & a short iron onto the green. The 14th (par 5) I hit drive & PW over the back.

Make sure you get a cart when you play here.
