Hey Dawso – do you make par anywhere?

I played Tanawha just after all the rain and it was one of the only courses open, it was amazingly dry. They have completely replanted the 3rd green which is massive and has a huge bunker in front of it now, so in a month or so it will be amazing. All the other grees even the temporary 6th which is a bit of fun and easy to land on are in good condition considering all the rain, especially the last 2 months. The 8th tee has a black marker 215mtrs, which means you can get out a driver if you want. Value for money this is a good short course for a challenging game of golf, $15 for 18 holes during the week. Every time I go to Tanawha there is something different, they never stop working on it, Take the 7th Tee, it is newly landscaped and turfed and so pretty you just want to have a little break and take in the surroundings. I will be back again, loved it.

Thought I’d give this course another go while on holiday up the coast. Was good to see the course is in better condition, however the greens on 3 and 6 are a joke. The green for 3rd hole is a sand basin, so you are literally putting in a bunker! The 6th hole green has been moved away from the original position and is now the smallest green you will ever see on a golf course anywhere! The course was for a long time a must play when on holiday on the sunshine coast, but now I won’t waste the time or money to have a hit there!
Being used to playing in country courses, I don’t expect it to be resort quality, but for a par 3 course, I do expect good greens! Otherwise making par is near impossible!

I’ve played this course for years and think it’s a great little place. Even though all the holes are Par 3, it’s always a challenge and never gets boring. OK, it’s not resort course quality but at $15 for 18 holes during the week it’s amazing value. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and they seem to be always doing something to make the place better. The longest 2 holes are 215m and 183m from the back markers which means woods/metals for most of us with longer irons for the better players. With so many tall trees around and only dam water to rely on the greens staff obviously have their challenges but overall it’s really quite good.

PROS

  • Fun, cheap, friendly, relaxed

Cons

  • Shade on a few greens

Played this course several times recently. Weather over the last year or so made it very difficult to card a good score, but the ground staff have done a remarkable job in reinstating the place to a very playable 9 holes. Really good for my short game, but get to have a hit on the long 8th hole. Luv it.

PROS

  • Friendly staff
  • Scenic
  • Great coffee

Cons

  • Plenty of hazards

DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!
Have played this course a number of times and loved it, but… played the course over the weekend and was left very angry and disappointed! The staff were very rude and we were treated as if playing golf there was an inconvenience for them! The actual course is in desperate need for maintenance with the tee area being just mud and grass only covering maybe 2 of the 9 greens of the course! The golf course is currently for sale and I presume that the owners aren’t investing any time or money into course maintenance! It is a shame because I used to love this course, but won’t play again until it is sold and the owners bring the course back up to scratch!

Played here March 2010

Fun. Not the 5 star rating that a few below have claimed- I smell an inside job there….

Quite scenic though. Forest with running creeks. Not finished yet or maintained all that well but close to it.

Bloody tough to shoot a good score…

an enjoyable par 3 course that no-one has ever finished on even par. Great if you wanna practise your irons and wedges.

Great for practicing your irons game, forget about putting. The fairways are better to put on than the greens here.

Very good for practicing, thats about out.

PROS

  • Short game practice

Cons

  • Greens are rubbish
  • Some tee's are mud

A fun course to play when you want to work on your irons. Not necessarily for the super serious golfer, but definitely for someone who wants a quick and fun few holes. Can easily be played in casual clothes and in a short time. Well worth the hit and laugh!

Just played this course thismorning and it was AWESOME!!!!!

The 1st hole is a taste of whats to come, a 5-6 iron shot over a gully.

The 3rd is over a gully then stright up hill. Getting a bogey will be like a hole in one. The 4th hole has to be played perfectly. If you hit 10 meters short of the green, you have a long walk down the hill (50 or so meters)

The 5th can be played with a wedge as it is just down hill all the way. Stuffed my 1st shot as it only went half way down the hill but my 2nd came 3 ft from the pin after using the hill.

Then finaly the ninth hole. It is a great finishing hole. Over a gully and up a hill simerler to the 3rd but not as long and the hill is steeper but easyer to play. Watch the green side trap.

Played a nine hole match play with dad and lost in the final 2 holes. The only down side course wise is on the 6th green, it is the only gree that is unredable. I hit the ball soft but it just took off.

After, we had a beer and talked to the owners of the course. Very nice people to chat with. There was a function on at the time but they did not get in the way at all as there is an old horse stable with BBQ's and everything in it.

Great course 9/10

A very difficult Par 3 course, but a lot of fun to play. An ideal place to try out your irons.

Tanawha Valley Par 3 can quite possible be one of the hardest, but very user friendly, courses around. They freely admit that in their time being open, that no-one has ever scored par for the course, even come under par!

Probably the easiest fairway would be to the first hole, a nice long chip across a creek and straight to the hole.

The hardest is the ninth hole, a hole with much difficulty, from the proximity of the tee to the creek, to the slope of the hole. totally fascinating course to play.
