Tanilba Golf Club is in great condition at the moment and the fairways are curved the greens are quick short and green. There is a fair bit of water and the crew there is awesome. This course is under rated and should deserve 4 star lots of trees surround the course and a game is very cheap. If you don’t like waiting in line to tee of go to Tanilba Bay golf club because it is very relaxing and easy to stay focused when someone isn’t up your tail hitting golf balls at you at 300kmph. And when your done having your game have a cold refreshment with a mate or two whilst having a bet on a dogie or horse race. The practice facility’s are great. So have a game at Tanilba Bay Golf Club because your in for a fantastic day! :)

Played Tanilba Bay yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised. Very user friendly course. Fantastic greens. A great day out and will definetly return.

As there hasn’t been a review for three years, its worth adding my 3 cents.

I played the course in late October (just before the most recent rains, it seems) and it was in good nick, but not great. About what you’d expect for a course that offers a daylight saving special of $10 after 3pm.

The course itself is Ok. Not as good as its competition in the Nelson Bay area, but much better value that Horizons or Pacific Dunes. Some of the greens looked ’newer’ than others, so I suspect there has been a bit of remodelling over the years. I’d say the newer greens, with their slopes and tiers are more difficult than the older ones, so I hope they continue updating.

One tip, the 7th hole has a watercourse across the entire fairway at about 200m (but it looks further away). So you hit 180, then another 190 for the second. A silly hole. But the rest of the course isn’t bad at all.

It's refreshing as a visitor to enter the pro shop at a foreign course and be greeted as royalty. Such is the case at "Royal Tanilba". This is a golf course where the "wank factor" is removed.

In a sport so often associated with self importance and pretence, Taniba Bay disassociates itself totally. Friendly banter in the pro shop followed by an interesting and challenging first hole and surprisingly challenging (albeit a little rough) following 17 makes for a great day out. If you are a golf @!#$* looking for a "piss-on" to call you sir or madam and collect your clubs at the bag drop, this is not the course for you.

If you're a golfing adventurer with an admiration for local hospitality and a warm and welcoming atmosphere, make your way to the first tee (but watch out for the brown snakes!).
