Measures 5674m Par 72 with four par 3s ranging from 128-170m, ten par 4s ranging from 290-367m and four par 5s ranging from 430-500m. Course is tree-lined with slow greens, lush fairways, with teebeds fairly flat but overgrown with rough just clumps of weeds and dirt. There are only 6 bunkers on the entire course.
The first 5 holes are across the southern slope of Princes Hwy. The rest of the course is entirely flat, with some doglegs and narrow tree-lined holes. Although the back nine is longer, the front nine is a touch more challenging and less boring than the back nine. Not a challenging course, but ok for the traveller or less frequent golfer.
Good holes include: the 328m slight dogleg right 1st (actually rated the hardest hole) with OOB right from tee to green, fairway slopes to the left with 2 bunkers short left and right of the elevated green and the 500m 14th doglegs left from 350m off the tee with OOB along the entire rightside to the bunkerless green.
The finishing 4 holes (15-18) are all 322-325m in length with 1 bunker and fairly wide fairways which gives Terang a boring finish.
Played here 24/11/2010 with $15 green fees. Terang has a population of about 2300 and is located 30 minutes east of Warrnambool behind the Thomson Memorial Church (built in 1894). Not a bad course for the town, but within a 30 minute drive there are quite a few better grass green courses around.
