Set in a pretty little valley, 'Royal Teven' is one of our favourite local courses.

Sure it's not long, but still quite a challenge with some new bunkering and a fair amount of water around.

It doesn't try to be what it's not, just a really pleasant place to have a hit with your family or friends. The course is always well maintained and considering the green fees, is great value.

They don't book tee times and we play mostly on weekends, so as it's difficult to get a game anywhere else in the region give Teven a try.

Not a bad Par 58, 3114m course. 1363m Par 27 going out and 1751m Par 31 coming in with 14 Par 3s ranging from 70-215m and four Par 4s ranging from 220-260m. Played here on weekend of 18/2/06 and was a little disappointed not to use my driver. Firstly, it has 9 HOLES and 18 tees, positioned around 50 metres or so from each other. It FEELS like a 9 hole course. I played two balls, one for the front nine and one for the back nine and finished in 1.5 hours (beats playing front nine then walking around again from for the back nine, when tees are quite close to each other).

Hazards include a creek that runs through the course (2nd /11th, 3rd/12th, 6th/15th, 7th/16th, 8th/17th, 9th/18th). The only sand on the course is the lonely bunker that guards the 1st/10th green. Most par 3s need only a wedge and a handful need a low iron, but other than that the course has no real surprises, and if you hit straight from 5 iron up, you will have no problems. The course is mostly used for social and beginners so expect a relaxed feeling. Small greens and fairways that need some maintaining.

Cost is quite reasonable. $10 for weekdays and $13 for weekends. Not bad value for a course that seems hard to compliment. No clubhouse, but a nice drive from the beaches, so if in the area and have a spare 1 hour (or two), give it a go.
