Played the St John’s course for the first time today. Found it to be an outstanding layout and a very good test of golf. Tees, fairways and bunkers were all in excellent condition. Greens were also good but were starting to show signs of being marked up etc around the hole and this was my only criticism of the conditions on the day that I played it.

On most holes there is plenty of room off the tee although the approach shots into the green need to be accurate. Lots of trouble off the fairways and poor shots get punished. Well worth playing if you get the chance although with a transferable membership share in the Club currently being sold by the Club for $40,000 plus annual subs of $3,100, I don’t think that I will be playing it too often in the future (unfortunately).

Great course – wide fairways I thought which if you’re hitting reasonably true will enable you to stay out of trouble. Trouble equals anywhere off the fairway. Long thick grass means it will either be a lost ball or several strokes before you’re back on track. There is also enough water around to let you cool your balls if you’re wayward!!! Good greens, bunkers and the grass cover is fine despite drought conditions. If you have the chance to play here don’t let it pass you by.

This is a benchmark setting course. The greens are fantastic, presenting many challenges. Plenty of birdie opportunities available on this course to reward good play. However, if you're in trouble, you're in trouble.

Avoid playing early mornings after corporate days, the course takes a pounding with unrepaired pitch marks and divots. The ground staff are able to get the course back in shape by mid morning, the only blemish being the multiple sand repair marks on the fairways.

The clubhouse treats its members a class above everyone else, so be wary if you're a guest of The Sebel as restrictions apply.

I have just joined the club having played it a half dozen times with a member over the years.

The design is very good, the views are endless. One thing to note is the amount of divots and unfixed pitch marks - there needs to be more encouragement for the members and the like to fixing these.( but it may be that time of the year with constant traffic when I happened to join).

Otherwise, a great layout with challanging bunkers and greens - a truly world class golf course.

The second Henley course by Tony Cashmore is supposed to be better so it's worth the membership purchase if you love quality golf and can play the game. Fingers crossed it is what I think it will be.

All good holes on this course and proof that good design can create an enjoyable challenge that rewards good shots and punishes poor shots. Lots of room off the tee but be accurate in to the greens.

Excellent use of the water, again not intimidating.

Can't wait to get on to the Henley course and play it's planned 491m Par 4!

The course is one of toughest course you will play from the gold tees. Greens are the truest you will ever putt on.

Pretty hard to say anymore than the comments section above!

A delight to play, absolutely loved the course.

Only criticism was the 18th fairway was being re-sown when I played it.
