This is a pretty great course considering it is covered in snow half the year. Fairways nice, greens beautiful and soft. The course is not long with many par 3’s but the rough is alpine tundra, and full of snakes(i saw one!). So you lose a lot of balls.
But in terms of design some holes are pretty spectacular, one par 3’s playing over a wild gully from a hidden tee. The 9’nth, a challenging par 4, has a spectacular view of the valley and village.
However, for the novice, this course will be brutally hard. Blind tee’s, steep hills and just ruthless rough will result in a very difficult round.
But it is very beautiful, breathtaking even, and i loved it.

Played the course at Easter this year with a mate & our two sons,course was in great condition,fairways lush & greens were true.A few blind tee shots makes it interesting for first timers.Not overly long except for the 9th, but it is down hill anyway,relaxed atmosphere with a great day had by all,although a few balls went missing in the thick rough.

Played the course as a 3 club event (rescue club, 9 iron and putter)so i didnt have to carry a full bag around the hills and found that this was adequate. The course is fairly tight with a few blind shots off the tee. It has a good covering of grass and the greens run well but if you go off the faiway be prepared to loose you ball. If your in Thredbo you would be silly not to give the course a go.

Measures 2145m Par 32 with five par 3s ranging from 96-202m three par 4s ranging from 298-354m and the 451m slightly uphill dogleg right Par 5 1st which has Thredbo River on the left from tee to green to a fairways which slopes to the left and a green guarded by a bunker short left.

Course conditioning is great with lush couch fairways, the rough is Alpine Tundra and native flora, whilst the greens are mostly flat and have been cored recently so now play a little slow, and the teebeds are flat and are usually tucked away close to the natural creeks and Thredbo River so you hear running water as you teeoff.

There are 15 bunkers on the course whilst all holes except the 2nd has bunkers guarding the greens. Thredbo is a challenging course for less frequent golfers as accuracy is paramount off the tee.

The holes here are across the slope so you don’t climb any steep hills. Having said that there are 4 blind tee shots (3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th) where you either can not see the green or have to hit at least 150 metres to get over the crest in the fairway. There are no bad lies on the fairways.

Highlights here are the 354m par 4 slight dogleg right 3rd with a blind tee shot over a crest 200m from the tee with rough both sides of the fairway less than 150m from the tee with 2 bunkers over the back of the green. The 202m par 3 5th with a blind tee shot over a crest to a green guarded by 1 bunker short left, thick but playable rough on the right from tee to green with 2 fairways bunkers short right. The downhill 308m 9th is picturesque as you see the entire village from the tee with a water hazard on the left and thick rough on the right from tee to green which is guarded by 3 fairway bunkers about 10-40 metres short of the green.

Overall the par 3s are quite challenging as are most of your tee shots as some can be narrow with overhanging tree branches to get around or over just to hit your fairway or green.

Played here 25/11/2010 and green fees are now $21 for either 9 or 18 holes. Definately the best conditioned and most challenging grass green course in the area (if not for a 200km radius as well).

On the scorecard it (rightly) claims to be Australia’s highest golf course at 1370 metres above sea level. I highly recommend a round here at Thredbo Village.

Great Little Resort course and very much worth while playing if your down that way. Will only play well if you’ve had a few drinks and even then you can get disgruntled by the course design and ground structure.

Very much enjoy playing Thredbo Golf Course and am looking forward to doing so agoin throughout this 2007 / 8 summer.

The course is looking great at present as spring has arrived early this year and the warmth has greened up both the fairways and greens. You should play Thredbo at least once in your life so that you can enjoy tight fairways and how far you can hit the gol.f ball at altitude!

Played Thredbo a couple of times in the summer (obviously). Very hillly - but it is in the snowy mountains. Have to hit a few shots over the hill with no idea where it's gone.

Some parts are lush, others a bit of a goat track but all good fun.

Wouldn't go to Thredbo just to play golf, but while your there its a lot of fun.

Just played Thredbo last week at Easter. Thredbo is a short 9 hole course with a large variety of medium difficult holes. No really long holes but plenty of Par 3 and 4s. Most fareways protected by thick bush so the inevitable lost ball will result. The course is a great alternative to a city course with a tremendous feel. Accuracy off the T is required on nearly all holes. At $15.50 for 9 or 18 holes it's good value. The only problem is at peak times there are a lot of time wasters on the course. Greens are small but in good condition. Start early for a quicker game. Considering the locality it's a good course.
