Wow! Middle Ridge in my opinion on par with City – very hard to split them. Very friendly staff in pro shop and the course was in terrific condition. Greens very true and a good speed. Course layout has some interesting holes. If you can hit it straight here you should score well – if you don’t then the rough and trees will sort you out. Bunkers probably the weak point with not much sand in them when I played. Signature hole – Perhaps 17th which is small par 3 but very scenic with a water carry.

My home club and fantastic. Great greens with well kept fairways, great staff esp the greenstaff and extremely friendly Pro-shop staff…But need to find the idiots who vandalised the greens.

The on-course pro and staff are what first makes Middle Ridge such an inviting club…great friendliness and advice. Course is in excellent condition with the introduction of new watering systems. To be applauded is the removal of the old (new) pine trees and the positioning of new fairway bunkers on the 3rd and 4th. Toowoomba Golf Clubs greatest feature is that it requires a range of shots suiting those players who can shape it both ways and then rewarded with assessible pins. The bent greens are surviving well the heat (global warming/climate shift) and roll true. Local knowledge is certainly an asset on the greens.

This course is the diamond in the rough when coming to the Toowoomba region.

With its postcard par three that can trap the savviest of all golfers.

It has the best fairways and greens in the region. Perfectly scultured into the treelined fairways.

Stay on the fairway and enjoy the rough go into the trees and have a lot of fun coming back!!

If you are in town it is one course you must try!!

Played there today and was pretty impressed by the condition of the course. dispite the lack of rain the greens are very very well looked after and rolled true. Some very long par 4s in the course that made the tee shots that much more important. The postcard par 3 on the back nine was enjoyable. Next time im in toowoomba ill be sure to play here again!

I recently became a member of this course and it has got to me my favourite golf course to play. This course epitomises what golf should be all about - an examination of your tee shots your second shots and your short game.

I make the journey from Brisbane (where I live) to this course 2-3 times a month because I enjoy it so much.

The conditioning of the course is always superb and each hole presents a unique challenge offering a variety of shot options. I can stand on the tee on most par 4 and fives and decide on either a driver, 3 wood or iron off the tee depending on the conditions of the day and how badly I need a birdie.

It's a course that rewards good shot making and can severely penalise a miss hit. I recently stood on the 6th tee, a majestic double dogleg par five with a stiff wind in the face. This hole sets up beautifully for me from the tee as it sweeps to the left and I usually play a nice draw. Well I overcooked my draw and hit it out of bounds, reloaded and hit it straight down the middle, I followed it with two beautiful irons to put me within 4 feet and putted the ball in for a 6.

That is what Middle Ridge is all about. It challenges you from the tee, then it challenges you again with the second shot tempting you to aim for the flag to reach the small greens. Once on the greens quick surface make for the final challenge.

You'll love this place and you'll want to come back again and again and again. By the way we have one of the nicest club pro's around Paul Hapgood - great bloke and a great golfer.

Having played Middle Ridge many times (and quite often in the Blue Marker Challenges - third or last friday in the month - check with the club) - it is highly recommended. When this course is in excellent shape - it is possibly the best inland/country golf course in Queensland. The bent grass greens are something you will not see a lot of in this state and will test out your putting stroke. The course has it's nuances (which are not for everybody) - but the back nine will be one of the best examinations of your game. The back nine has plenty of dogleg holes that call for you to hit it either way (fades and draws). If you are on your game you can play very well here. This course will test your patience, game plan and course management skills.

If you make your first visit, I assure you it will not be your last.

Steve's review was quite comprehensive... Some more pine trees have been added around the course. They have been placed on fairways about where big hitters will land a ball. This makes it more challenging for the longer drivers. Also, word around the club is that the stableford indexs are going to change soon.

Just so that noone can say that I did not tell them. Middle Ridge has gone tee up until further notice.

I still love it.

A fantastic course...I'm biased as I am a member here. In truth I would say that this is the better of the 2 Toowoomba 18 holers. It is certainly an older eestablished course with beautiful old trees lining the fairways.

The first is a shortish par 5 with bunkers in the landing zones of your first 2 shots before you reach the green which is guarded by bunkers left & right. In truth the bunkers in the landing zones will only catch balls that stray to either side of the fairway.

You then head back the way you came for a long dogleg left par 4 to another green guarded left & right by bunkers.

We then cross over a road for the next 4 holes; a dogleg left par 4; a straight par 4, a 130m par three with bunkers left, right and behind as well as a stand of pines to the right (if you get under or behind these you are looking at at least bogie); and then a dog leg left, dog leg right par 5 (do not hook on this hole).

Back over the road and onto a seemingly innocent dog leg right par 4. This hole is short and simple looking but if you are short of the corner you are looking at a blind shot into a raised plateau style green. If you miss this green left, right or behindd you better be a good wedge player. Short is safe as you can bump and run up through an apron and onto the green.

Our last 2 holes on the front are a down then uphill par 5 followed by a fairly straight forward 150m par 3. My only comments are to hit your second shot to the left side of the fairway on the par 5 or you will not have an easy shot into the green.

The 10th is a long straight par 4. You really need to geet a good drive away to ensure a decent chance of par here.

11 is a 183m par 3 with pleenty of sand on the right.

The twelfth is a straightforward looking par 4 but you need to be left to have a decent shot at the green due to the massive eucalypt that encroaches from the left.

2 tight driving holes follow. The 13th has a narrow fairway with trees cutting in from the left at about 2 iron distance. Anything too far left is dead. I am sure that someone specifically planted these trees in a pattern so that if you get in you can only chip out sideways. 14 is a dogleg right, dogleg right. If you are short of the first corner, you better be able to hit a fade.

The course widens out again after this with a par 4 that sweeps right and uphill before the signature hole (a 125m par 3 water carry). Water front and left, bunkers right and sloping steeply behind into OB.

2 long par 4's complete the round and into the small but comfortable clubhouse.
