Tuggerah Lakes Golf Club, now known as Shelly Beach Golf Club, is located on the New South Wales Central Coast on the gentle undulating hills overlooking Shelly Beach, a leisurely 40 minute drive from Sydney’s North Shore.
Described as ’the hidden gem’ and acclaimed as the best golf course on Central Coast. The course is set amongst the stunning backdrop of the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean and features typical seaside terrain guaranteed to challenge any standard of golfer.
The front nine winds its way close to the beach with eye-catching views whilst not being long accuracy off the tee is imperative if the local winds are up.
Huge established trees line most fairways with lush soft fairways giving mostly perfect lies throughout the course with equally good true green.
A first class clubhouse with an extensive menu awaits all golfers looking for some respite after an afternoon of golf.
The course provides excellent practice facilities consisting of putting greens, driving range and chipping green with bunkers. The golf shop has a comprehensive range of the latest golfing equipment at competitive prices along with expert advice.

Shelly Beach is a fun course in a fantastic location… But the layout leaves a lot to be desired. There are very few memorable holes, and a number of holes rewards big hitters regardless of direction or shot shape. The course does not require any real thought or strategy from tee to green on most holes.
I always leave this course feeling like they should tear up around 14 of the holes and start again. With this piece of land they could build a true championship-calibre course – but it seems they’re happy to have a medium-standard track to keep the punters happy.
I’ll play here again from time to time, but if I want a real test of golf I’ll look elsewhere.
