Measures 5753m Par 71 with three par 3s ranging from 131-203m, thirteen par 4s ranging from 260-375m and two par 5s ranging from 446-509m.

The medium-sized tree-lined parkland-style layout is quite hilly with some quite lush and sloping kikuyu fairways with poa/bent grass greens that were a little slow. There are 12 bunkers on the course and there is not much water that comes into general play.

The course is higher than the town at approximately 300-360m above sea level with the highest point on the course being the elevated teebeds on the 13th and 15th.

Highlights include: the 509m 60 degree dogleg left 2nd (index 12) with a dam on the right through the dogleg with OOB on the left to a green guarded by a bunker short left; the 347m slight dogleg right 3rd (index 5) with the flag visible from the tee where homes are behind the tee, there is also an OOB on the left side of the bern on your left with a green guarded by a bunker short right and a small pond 10m short left; the 375m straight 5th (index 2) with a downhill teeshot with a pond 200-240m off the tee on your left and a fairway tree 50m short right of the bunkerless green; the 203m Par 3 9th (index 4) with a small pond 20m short left of the green also guarded by a bunker short right and the 375m slight dogleg right blind teeshot over a crest 10th (index 1) which plays slightly uphill with the OOB maintenance shed left off the tee and a greenside bunker short left to avoid.

Note sure if I agree with others as I found the hilly back nine quite boring and unimaginative with a similar elevated teeshot over a crest to a dogleg with the same club into the green. To top it off, the 13th and 15th have exactly the same strategy – straight hole with an elevated tee! The flatter front nine had much more variety off the tee and although slightly shorter was more challenging than the back nine.

I do not remember playing a course with so many par 4s that play the same length – 8 out of the 13 par 4s are less than 340m. It must be this area, as Gundagai also had many shortish par 4s. In contrast the par 3s and par 5s were all of different lengths to each other with greenside bunkers to avoid and more options off the tee.

Played here 6th September 2011 with $30 social green fees in steady light-to-moderate showers all morning. Tumut is a town of around 6300 people at approximately 280m above sea level on the foothills of the Snowy Mountains. It takes 25 minutes in either direction to Gundagai or Talbingo from the town and about 1 hour from Wagga Wagga.

Fantastic course NOW WITH WATER! Just wait for summer to come, with a new dam and watering system this will be a cracker of a course. Take a weekend and play twice! Beautiful scenery, challenging golf, great little pro-shop and neat country town clubhouse.

This course still needs water. The middle holes of the back nine have a very patchy covering of grass. Greens in good nic. The back nine is much tougher than the front nine perhaps partly due to the grassless patches on several holes and tighter tree lined, dog legged fairways. On the back nine you basically play across a broad gully for a few holes- dog-leg right on the way up the gully and dog leg left on the way down.

I will definitely revisit the club when the course has seen the results of more water and regrowth on the fairways. In the mean time if I wsa in the area I would go for a game if time permitted. Some holes are a little frustrating. 8th with huge tree in the middle of the fairway. 15th (I think) with fairway that slopes severely to left and right and a narrow raised green that is of the bald headed man variety.

A great course, not long but very tricky, small elevated greens, very hill especially the back nine. Cart rental is the best income earner. Middle of the drought, fairways and rough like concrete, greens magnificent. They tell me they have water coming mid 2009 – being piped 5klm from the towns new sewerage tratment works. Be a great course to revists when there is grass on the fairways.

Had many games here over the years with the most recent late December 2006. Like all areas of Country Australia, water is an issue, however cogratulations is in order for the course management as the Greens are in good condition. Fairways are patchy in places but not club damaging. The layout is of a high standard with couple of picture perfect holes with, in my opinion, the best being the par 3 17th. Bring on the Rain..

18 holes of doglegs and undulating fairways

A great test for all levels of golfers.

Based at the foothills of the snowy mountains gives for some scenic tee shots and panoramic views.

20 min off the Hume highway from Gundagai and only 1 hour from wagga wagga ... worth the visit.

Good luck and good golfing!!!!
