Still measures 5470m Par 70 with five par 3s ranging from 135-210m, ten par 4s ranging from 240-436m and three par 5s ranging from 430-495m…currently the par 5 3rd green is closed for maintenance and measures 395m par 4.

As mentioned the proshop staff are quite friendly, the course is simple and flat but reasonably maintained, and the parkland-style, narrow tree-lined course lies in a natural floodplain of Manly and Brookvale Creeks. Course has kikuyu fairways usually in reasonable condition but can be bumpy and thinly covered, but the kikuyu teebeds are dirt-ridden and bumpy, and the mix bent grass greens are slowish. The course has 36 bunkers.

No memorable holes here as the layout is boring and flat. There are two long 4s over 400m and the par 5s are quite weak. There are too many shortish par 4s to score well on, 6 in fact, the straight 286m 1st, 333m 4th, the 240m slight dogleg right 7th, the 310m straight 9th, the 290m straight 11th and the 253m slight dogleg right 16th.

Open competitions are held on Sundays which are $32 and to play 9 holes it is $23 and to play 18 holes socially on the weekend it is $44. Quite simple and flat, better to learn to play here than Wakehurst which is nearby and much more challenging.

Having played here a few times now, most recently 4/7/2011 off the back plates, social green fees are now $38 weekday and to protect the members teeing areas the social players have to play 10-15m in front of the ladies plates which makes a social round here less than 5000m.

Nice little course, played when it rained and it held up well. Guy in the Proshop was really helpful and even gave us umbrellas to borrow. Also gave us a free drinks voucher due to the slow players in front of us. Bit weird going 500 yards down the main road to go to the clubhouse though.

PROS

  • Cheap
  • Cood condition
  • Friendly Staff
  • Nice little challenge

All-in-all, this is a pretty boring course and does not present an accomplished golfer with any major challenges. Most holes are pretty straight and the green can be seen from most tees. Fairways are all tree-lined but easy to play out of. The water hazards are few and far between and most don’t really come into play (except for the creek). The course is well maintained, the price is right and the staff are always friendly.

One of the most boring courses i have ever played, while it is decent condition, the layout is terrible. there are two short par 3’s which i can’t differentiate and i have played the course at least a dozen times. Very busy and not worth the wait

Played on 25 November 2007. Nice little course for a high handicapper but not much of a challenge for mid to low. Narrow fairways requires you to be accurate. I found that if you miss the fairway, you’d better miss it by a lot as it would give you a better chance of a shot from another fairway. Club selection does come into play with shorter tighter holes. Sometimes better to hit iron off the tee and leave yourself with a full wedge than have to play a 3/4 wedge into a well protected green.

Generally, course condition was pretty good. Greens were a tad on the slow side but for average golfers, it wasn’t a big deal. Fairways were nice after a few days of showers but could do with a bit more water.

My only disappointment was having to play off the public yellow tees. The course would have been more interesting off the whites. Something for the club to consider as I doubt I would return if I had to play off yellows again.

I'be played this course on & off for 25 years and it has always been a bit up itself.

Played it Oct06 for first time in probably 8 years and was told that I should play from the yellow markers instead of the back markers. Luckily they mentioned this on the 17th. Given the yellows are up to 100 metres ahead of the real markers (typically about 15-40meters) I feel as though I am not getting value for money. Also there are no indicators for hole length and nor is the scorecard representing the hole as it only gives members length.

Besides this the course is well looked after for a high use, suburban course. Well bunkered and greens not bad.

$32 for mid week 18 holes wasn't too bad and it is slap bang in the middle of the northern beaches courses both in locality and quality. It's better than Balgowlah, Palm Beah, Avalon but not as good as Long Reef, Wakehurst, Mona Vale, Bayview.

played a round here on 21/8, a fairly flat course just next to the Warringah Mall, almost every fairway is tree lined, front 9 is just relatively simple and easy, however, the back 9 is a bit more interesting with water in play in some of the holes and the river running across some fairways, you really have to think about where to put your ball in, over the river or lay up short of it

the course is currently not in a very good condition, most of the greens are sandy and bumpy and the fairways, especially in the front 9, are not looking good either, will probably wait for a while before going back

I played in 21/11/2004 and the course was in excellent condition following significant rain in the previous weeks. Almost all fairways are heavily lined with trees that will punish you if you don't drive straight. Infact this is a good course that will test your recovery shots if you hook or slice. There are few water hazards on the course, so it's difficult to loose your ball. They could make the course a little harder by introducing some bunkers that would make the average golfer think more. The 11th hole (par 4) was my favourite with a down hill drive pulling up infront of the river and a chip over onto the green. (Well...that's how I had planned to play it).

Overall this is a good course that has some good challenges and plenty of rewards. Worth a look and a good venue for golfers of all levels.

Played in January on a hot day. Nice location. Gentle sea breeze. Fairly flat course with some interesting holes, few bunkers in play. The back 9 has some water. Not easy to lose balls as rough is rare. Most fairways tree lined so if you drive into the trees you will be penalised. Reasonable length off the Yellow tees at around 5000m+ but not a long course. Greens had a lot of pitching marks indicating that a lot of the players do not repair their marks, but even so greens in good condition. Fairways holding up well in spite of the hot summer. For public access arrive after 1.30 on a weekend without prebooking and you don't wait too long (summer only). Certainly worth a look at $27.
