Measures 5796m Par 72 with four par 3s ranging from 117-191m, ten par 4s ranging from 230-385m and four par 5s ranging from 445-532m. Course is well-maintained with smooth greens which played 2 paced at times, fairways are good without ever being lush and teebeds are flat and green. Most holes are bunkered with some deep pot bunkers protected most par 3s quite a challenge. Depending on the winds all holes could be a challenge during your round.
Holes 4-6 are carved out of the native vegetation and whilst they are not overly long par 4s they do demand accuracy off the tee to score well.
Other holes worthy of mention include: the long 191m bunkerless green 2nd, the elevated 230m par 4 8th is very interesting with a green deep wide green surrounded by bunkers – take an iron off the tee, the 532m 10th (rated the most difficult) is uphill with thick vegegated treeline on both sides – not often you play a course with par 5 rated index 1, the 385m straight 11th is a testing hole with thick trees on both sides and the 117m 13th is uphill with the 2-tiered green sloping towards the front.
Overall a good variety of blind teeshots over fairway crests, good bunkering and the wind all make a challenging layout.
As a visitor to the coastal city of 30 000 people I played here in the open Saturday competition on 20/11/2010 with $26 comp fees with 2 elderly members and enjoyed the round. Having played all courses in the region I feel Warrnambool, Port Fairy (20 minutes west) and Portland (75 minutes west) are the best conditioned and most challenging full length courses in the area.

This is a fanatstic country course. I played recently and the course was in excellent condition and it appears they have plenty of water. I try to get down to Warrnambool twice a year to play here and at Port Fairy. The course can be quite challenging in the wind but on the calmer days allows for good scoring. The stretch of holes 4th to 6th is as good as any I’ve played. This is a more challenging course than nearby Port Fairy however I recommend you play both if you are in the area.

this offers a good challange to most golfers, plays harder to wot it looks like on paper especially when the wind blows. i enjoyed it ere the 2 times i played in extreme wind and calm conditions which is about 7am in the morning. favourite holes to play were the 4th, 5th, 6th, 13th, 14th & 15th. bit more challaging than the port fairy course down the road i’d reccomend if your in the area to play warrnambool & port fairy!

a good course to play the 10th or 11th unless you are a long hitter is a very long hole while the par 3 up the hill on the back 9 which mainly consists of sand ie they play like bunkers is a get to the flag or suffer the course is very open plenty of room to hit and enjoyable especially if you are on holidays there

I will always remember one hole (I can't remember the actual hole number but somebody will know from my description). Very elevated tee shot to a deep, wide fairway. The second shot is straight uphill again with a complete right dogleg.
Alternatively, you can risk a lost ball by trying to fly over the trees and cut the corner. I hit my best drive of the round on this hole and made a good birdie.

Warrnambool is one of the best value for money courses in Australia. For around 20 bucks you get to play one of the best courses in the country. Built on land close to the beach, many of the holes are played from elevated tees through hilly terrain surrounded by tee tree. Notable holes include the 4th 311m par 4 the 5th 327m and the 6th 345m. All are spectacular in appearance and beautiful to play. The uphill par 3 13th and downhill par 14th par4 are sensational. The course is always in excellent condition, greens are true and well bunkered and the variety in the holes excellent. If you are bored playing this course you are bored with golf. Each hole is unique in character. Great course.

A good test for any golfer, tight fairways with plenty of Tea tree, large undulating greens, not a long course but very enjoyable with tough par 3's.

A very good golf course that is worth the trip.
Conditioning during the summer of 2010/11 was fantastic. Greens were in great condition and were quick and even. Likewise the fairways, though they are Kikuyu grass. The committee may be well advised to consider a roll out of couch in the future, but they are making the most of what they have.
The course requires considered play to score well, and while smart golfers lay up on several holes, it is not mandatory. The course gives the player options and the inevitable wind adds a further element.
The clubhouse is dated but comfortable, and the members and staff are friendly. They did not serve meals however, and given both the fields the club attracts and the population Warrnambool boasts – especially in summer – is surprising. I’m sure the club could make good money putting a chef on their books.
Green fees are not cheap, but when compared with clubs closer to Melbourne appears a steal.
There are sea views from the sixth tee block, and ocean can be heard on several holes with the water being just over the dunes.
The other golf club of note in the area is Port Fairy, and while it has spectacular views and is a great course, the track at Warrnambool is better.
