Measures 2725m Par 34 with three par 3s ranging from 145-228m, five par 4s ranging from 302-354m and the 543m Par 5 slight bend right 6th with the OOB railway line far left from the tee mound to the scrape.

Course has natural grass fairways interspersed with kikuyu grass. There are 9 tiny black oiled scrapes with no bunkers. The layout utilises its natural asset – Werris Creek, which runs through the course on the way to the town.

There are alternate tee mounds to play 18 holes but are very close to the front and back nine tee mounds. Neither tee mound changes the par of the hole. Basic golf facilities. Fees are $5.

Course access is from the Gap Road which runs between the Kamilaroi Highway (11km west) and the town itself (1km east). Werris Creek is a small town of around 1500 people approximately 380m above sea level about 20km north of Quirindi and 45km south-west of Tamworth.

Closest grass green course is the 9-holer at Quirindi or the 18-hole layouts at Gunnedah or Tamworth.

I feel this layout is more interesting and challenging than the layout at Quirindi, however, until it converts to grass greens, it will always offer basic golf facilities.

You may think that werris creek golf course is just another goat track. But unlike must small town courses this course has grass coverage all year round and the sand greens are rated the best in the area if not australia. It has a creek which you have to hit across 6 times out of 9.the long par 5 4th hole which measures 543m has out of bounds to the left and the creek to the right and a pretty narrow driving area would have to be one of the most challenging holes in golf. If this course were fortunate to accumulate grass greens in the not to distant future and purchase more acres to build another 9 holes on then it would be a great little course.
