Windsor Country Golf Club is a championship 18 hole course, perfectly located on the outskirts of historic Windsor, an hour north-west of Sydney.

Carefully developed over the last 40 years, the layout has been designed to make the best use of the natural features of hills, slopes, river flats and Rickaby Creek which forms the western boundary. The modern clubhouse enjoys panoramic views to the Blue Mountains.

The course has standard par of 71 and is rated 71 by the NSW Golf Association. It was developed on an old dairy, bought by members in 1962. The fairways are lined with a mixture of original and newer plantings of mixed native and deciduous trees. Garden beds abound at tees and throughout the course.

Played in the open comp yesterday. Course was a little wet but otherwise in good nick. It’s a tidy course and a good test with holes dog legging left and right. Very good value at $24.50 for a Sunday comp.

Played in work comp over two days this week and enjoyed the course, though I played well over my handicap. Would hate to play this course in the middle of summer, as the temperatures would make it almost unbearable. The November temperatures were bad enough.
The front nine is the most interesting and a bit of water comes into play, however only a greedy player would come unstuck with the water.
The fairways were in great condition and the rough was also well maintained and offered few challenges. I found the greens to be small and lightning fast, but there were few breaks, however I came unstuck as I played for breaks that didn’t exist.
The description of the course says it has a modern clubhouse, which isn’t true. The clubhouse looks stuck in the 70’s and could do with some modernization. The back deck of the clubhouse does have good views overlooking the Blue Mountains, however it cops the afternoon sun and under the awning it became like an oven.
I hope to play the course again as it was an enjoyable experience and if anyone is in the area I would recommend them calling in for a game.

Measures 5888m Par 71 with five par3s ranging from 130-186m, nine par4s ranging from 284-288m and four par 5s ranging from 446-547m. Good course with well-kept greens, tree-lined fairways and a good clubhouse. Open days are Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays $24.50 for visitors.

Played here 31 May 2010 and paid only $12 for a Monday social round. I didn’t find the back nine challenging at all. The uphill slight dogleg left 378m par 4 15th (index 2) is worthy to note that the front portion of the green slopes towards the fairway, which requires a carry to the centre of the green from the fairway. Other than that there are no surprises on the holes around the railway line.

The front nine here is quite impressive. Most of the courses lower index holes require some respect, although the 446m par 5 8th hole with dogleg left over the water is not as daunting as it looks from the tee…just don’t get too greedy off the tee!

Greens are smallish, mostly flat and can be slow. I qutie enjoyed the front nine but of the two courses here, Richmond has the better back nine, whilst Windsor has the better front nine! If in the area again, I will come back here eto play but only in an open competition.

Since May 2007 the quality of the course and the greens has improved a lot. It provides golfers of all levels a challenge. Its outlook is pleasant and the members make guests feel very welcome. The maintenance team have put in a huge effort.

Ive been a member at Windsor Country Golf Club for a few years now. When i joined it wasent a bad course, the greens wernt up to scratch also with the fairways, the greens were abit slow. The front 9 was by far the hardest 9 on the course by far. with the back 9, when i joined, the new trees were growing and made it easy to hit fairways. But about 2 to 3 years later, the trees have grown and made a large difference in the hole, such as the 12th, u can either hit the ball over the tree, or u would have to draw it round. But overall, i think the course is coming to good.

Windsor is in quite good contditions. After I played at ashlar and carnarvon, these two are just slighty better fairways then windsor. Almost all the greens are smallish and raised which gets a bit tiresome. The greens are good as well, although slowish, and normally flat except a 3-4 holes which are hard to judge. Another thing that stood out to me while playing at other courses was the sound of cars driving past which I was not use to, although the airbase or something has a lot of planes going overhead. Overall it does not get boring as there is lakes and train lines to watch out for, and in good condition compared to some at this time.

It's alright, but I think the maintanance team have to do a bit more work. Nonetheless, still a good course.

The front 9 is by far the better of the two 9's. A good, downhill opening par 4 of 384m, followed by a tough par 3 to an elevated green some 186m away. The 3rd is a 549m par 5 that will require 3 good shots to a small, domed green.

The 4th, 5th & 6th are 3 dog leg par 4's of similar length. The 5th is quite tight & will require an iron off the tee for safety. The 7th is a par 3 over the corner of the river & the 8th is a short par 5 that allows you to cut off as much of the river with the drive as you dare. The 9th is a tough, uphilt par 4, with a big bunker in front of the green that needs to be carried.

The 10th & 11th are reasonable hole, but when to cross the railway the 12th to 17 are quite boring, lacking any imagination. It's a shame as the front 9 promises so much.

The course is not heavily bunkered, only about 23 in all, & many greens are bunkerless. This doesn't detract from the challenge of the course, especially on the front 9.

Not a bad course. There are some good par fives and a couple of tricky par fours, but overall not too long.

The greens are slow which makes the course easy, especially the back nine.
